Does high fielding negate playing out of position?

In my DD, I have 4 legend outfielders and I am about to get my 5th. I did this partly on accident but they are the best players on my roster, I have to play them. I am 2 cards away from Al Kaline (97ovr) who has 97 fielding 90 arm str 93arm acc 81 reaction but is kinda slow. His 2nd positions are 1b/OF but I want to put him at 3B for now until I finish another collection. Does his very high defensive stats counteract not being accustomed to the position?

You lose 20% of your fielding ability at your secondary position and 40% completely out of position. So take the fielding ability and multiply by .80 or .60 if you're playing out of position to see what the player's fielding skills will be like out of position.
