    PS3 Show compatible on PS4?

I'm getting a PS4 but 3/4s of the way through a season on a PS3. My quandary is if I buy a PS4 my current season will be lost UNLESS I buy The Show PS4 for the final 40 games which would be a unneeded expense.

So - can I get around this somehow?

Well, you can keep your PS3 and keep playing it there.

Do you only play one season for each year? If yes then just keep your ps3 version. If you play more than one season you could trade it in and maybe add that credit and get it used for cheaper. If you have gamers club unlocked from Best Buy you can get a used version for 26, and with the trade in it will be cheaper than that.

The best option you have is year-to-year saves. Remember back when the game came out, they detailed how to get your PS3 save over to PS4 (upload to cloud, download on PS4, continue). Playstation consoles have not had backward compatibility since PS2 was able to play PS1 games.

The first wave of PS3 consoles were able to play PS2 games.

The first wave had the actual PS2 hardware inside of the PS3.

The second wave featured software emulation where results varied.

Today you can still play PS2 games on PS3, but you have to buy them first. You can't just stick your disc in, which sounds to me like an artificial restriction, but I don't know for sure.
