Another thing to consider is the catcher's API suggestion of pitch type and location.

For example, I'm currently playing as a 'true knuckle-baller' in RTTS, and every time the catcher API suggests a knuckle-ball, the API glove location is almost always in the middle of the zone. If I aim at that location in the middle of the zone, it's pretty difficult for me NOT to get a strike, unless I'm waaaay off on meter (analog). On top of that, I can aim for the middle and still have the ball wind up anywhere in the strike zone, so it's not going to land in the middle every single time, which is why the catcher always suggest to middle.

With that said, if CPU Dickey is getting API suggestions from the CPU catcher to aim for the middle of the zone and he follows it, that could be why your seeing so many strikes from him.

But I think the fact that the vast majority of knuckle ball aimed at the middle of the strikezone become a strike is a big reason why waiting for your pitch is not as effective a strategy in the game, when in real life there is a significant chance that each knuckle ball ends up outside the strike zone and therefore being selective sometimes gets rewarded in terms of walks.

And given that knuckle ball isn't a pitch that real-life pitchers can command much (if at all), aiming for the middle of the zone simply makes sense even in real life.

My CPU vs. CPU franchise (no simming) is at the all-star break, and Dickey has only issued four walks in 124 IP:

I think the pitch consistency of knuckle ball needs to be made much worse than it is currently in the game to make this not happen.

Wow...I've had 4 walks in a single start (sometimes not even a full outing), let alone 4 in over 120 innings.....

No idea how guys are having this much control over knuckleballers. Granted, this is the CPU, but still...

Next time my knuckleballer starts, I'm going to have to play a "for fun" game against my own team just to see how the CPU does with him.
