    Disappointed in Defense

I'm disappointed in the defense and the lack of variety in catches. There's only your basic diving catches, basic jumping catches, robbing a hr against the wall. There's some great athletes and defense is where they showcase that.

Defense in my career feels bad, like I lack control. I'll like a sprint button and a button to take steps after a catch. If I touch the left bumper two times then I'll takes two steps. And it would be nice if the controller rumble a few times after reaching the warning track.

    Steps

    Catch while Sprinting

Not a fan of defenses either. It feels like the CPU can track down every ball in the gap by taking the perfect route or infielders will stretch all the way out to field balls in the hole and then throw as if it was just a step away. Now I know some will say to turn down the outfielders speed sliders but it affects my fielders WAY more than it does the CPU's. Mind you, I have fielding on auto.

I just wish this game had more balance yet more individuality, if that makes sense.

Sliders can fix almost all of that and not talking abut just speed. You realize there is a reaction slider right?

The one's that seem to bug me the most are the pitcher and catcher reaction times. To me the pitcher always has perfect reactions to bunts, but is slow to cover first or to cover home on a wild pitch. The catcher seems to always be slow to the ball on bunts/short hits. You see him stand up, then throw off his mask, and finally go after the ball. In real life it's all done in one fluid action with no delay.

Probably just being goofy. Like when Freddie Freeman of the Braves ran the bases with Kelly Johnson on a double after Johnson had been traded to the Mets earlier this year.

That needs to be fixed in next years game (erg I meant that on the gif.)

I have a hard time trying to pull off in MLBTS what Manny Machado does in the real game. Not sure what they could do to make some players pull off these great plays on the corners. Many times my players just miss it.

Can never seem to pull this off...

I don't expect to pull this off, I just like to watch it.

                    Re: Disappointed in Defense

Using auto-fielding, would increasing the fielder reaction slider (and probably throwing arm strength and lowering baserunner speed as well) help?

I don't know much about controlling fielders as I put it on auto fielding and just handle throws.

I don't know what, if any, impact that slider has on user control.

Yeah same here, and also with the shortstop going deep for a grounder. A lot of times I dont even bother making the throw, seems like it just takes too long for the animation to play through. I have everything on manual so maybe that has something to do with it.

Nope. I see the same thing from CPU fielders. You're right, the animation takes too long. Fielders take too many extra steps and such.

I even have baserunner speed at 1, infield throws at 8, and still see the same thing from average or below speed batter-runners. I mean, I could see just eating the ball against Billy Hamilton or missing on a bang-bang play versus a 70-ish speed player that hustled out of the box (or was lefty) but not someone in the 40's in speed.

Nice play. I guess what I'm looking for is players with outstanding defensive abilities to standout more. Maybe the reaction rating and /or arm strength rating should have more of an effect

I can throw runners out with Adam Jones on a realistic level but I can't replicate machado at all. Routine grounders only
