Challenge replay
I hope Sony fixes the challenge replay next year and give us challenges other than just the 1st base. Today I got robbed twice in the same game. 1st a.j. pollock stole 2nd base clearly and got called out. 2nd i hit a ground ball to ss Brandon Crawford with again pollock at 1st Crawford then threw to 2nd and Joe panic missed the base and again pollock got called out. Anyone else got those situations or similar?Tags: None -
Re: Challenge replay
The second one wouldnt matter. The MLB has some stupid *** "neighborhood" rule where the fielder doesn't actually have to touch the base on a double play. Just be close and show intent and he's out. Happened against the Rox earlier this year and I about threw my phone at the TV. How the hell does a fielder not have to touch the damn base. Still gets me all riled up.Last edited by BDrizz; 08-31-2015, 03:11 PM. -

Re: Challenge replay
I can see where the MLB is coming from though, it's an injury thing. It's so SS or 2B doesn't actually have to touch the bag and then get taken out by the incoming baserunner. The rule they really fix is the one that allows guys to slide anywhere as long as they are within arm's reach of the bag. Because that allows a big tall guy to go in full speed and take out slide a guy and shatter his ankle and it's all legal because he has long *** arms.Comment

Re: Challenge replay
As kehlis said it doesn't matter. He doesn't need to touch the bag. Unless it's really noticeable they will call the out 10 out of 10 times.Comment

Re: Challenge replay
The "phantom" double play tag of second base is a "rule" that doesn't bother me at all. Usually, I'm a guy who wants as little opportunity for judgement calls as possible because that leads to unfairness in how games are called, but there is just too much room for injuries on this sort of play, so as long as the covering player is at least close, I'm cool with it.
In The Show, I have a problem with the first base animations. There are a few ground out animations that clearly show the first baseman's foot off the bag when he catches the ball. By now, I know that the runner is out and that's just the way the game works, but in a close game, sometimes it's a little frustrating.
And, yes, there should be a way to challenge every "challenge-able" play whether the game lets you do it or not.Comment

Re: Challenge replay
I've always just taken animations with a grain of salt. Animations aren't perfect. One thing I've noticed is when someone hits a "sure double" but the OF gets to the ball too quick, the outfielder often is painstakingly slow in his throwing animation and then throws it offline so that the IF has to reach back for the tag, thus allowing the "sure double" to occur, even though the OF speed was quick enough that it shouldn't have been a double.
I see "wrong" calls the same way (and things like players morphing through a hand on NBA2k, but I digress). Sometimes you simply have to accept that animations aren't perfect and the player was "meant" to be out or safe regardless of how the animation looked on the screen.Comment
