    Help! Trade won't go through!

I'm trying to make a trade in my Jays franchise but it won't work. I'm trying to get Mike Leake from the Reds. It keeps saying "The trade cannot be completed because of budgetary constraints". Even though I would have 2.2 mil after the trade.

Edit- I tried to trade for someone with the same contract as Leake which was Sean Marshall and it would work. So it's not letting me get Leake.

    Any help?

That's weird; do the Reds have a plus budget?

This is probably a stupid question but how do I check that?

I saw something in another thread about players not being able to be signed in the offseason because of budget when there is plenty available. It has something to do with the 40-man roster not being full.

Maybe this glitch bleeds into trades also?

How many years is Leake signed? Is it possible that your budgetary issue exists in a future year, instead of this one? IE: Maybe some of your players/staff are due to get raises next year and you won't be able to afford Leake during that second year?

It's saying this because the other team's budget is in the red. The player you are trying to trade away has a higher priced contract than the player you are trading for, meaning the other team's budget would go further in the red by taking them on.

To trade, the players must have the same contract value (other team's budget remains the same after trade), or the player's contract you are trading away needs to be lower than the player's contract you're trading for (other teams budget will rise after trade)

Basically on the trade screen you check to see if the Reds would still have a positive budget after the trade would be completed. You should see both your budget after the trade and the Reds.

It only shows my budget not the other teams.

I'm trying to give them 3 prospects so their contracts are really low (around 70k each) it makes no since because Sean Marshall has the exact same contract as Leake (2.4mil) and it when I try to trade for Marshall it works.

Are you using custom rosters with custom player contracts? If so, the value of a player's contract shown in the trade screen could be different than what's listed in his player card. Check Marshall's player card to see if his contract value is the same as what's shown on the trade screen and get back to me. Do this for Leake's as well.

That could be it...because Leake's contract is for around 3 million more IRL.
