Should The Show team up with Mlb Network?

They broadcast the draft, hall of fame ceremony, announce season awards. At least add it for rtts, some quick videos below.

    Draft
    Mike Trout

I'd also love to see a pregame show with Greg Amsinger and, although I am not his biggest fan, Harold Reynolds who'll break down the pitching matchup and maybe keys to the game....

or if the ever decide to add in game highlights from other games....have Matt Vasgergian say something like "We go to Studio 42 and Greg Amsinger for this MLB Network studio update"

NBA 2K is doing pregame with the guys from TNT. I'm a fan of MLB Tonight it would be cool to see it in The Show

Greg Amsinger and Harold Reynolds are the guys I would like to see. Maybe even have them break down the draft before it starts or have them do split camera interviews from the studio for rtts

They did this back in the ol Super Nintendo days(Ken Griffey Jr. baseball if memory serves correct). They had Chris Berman(who hosted Baseball Tonight at the time)talking about the game afterwards(had someone else with him if I recall). Was pretty neat to watch as a kid.

I'd prefer they focus on in-game commentary (which MLB Network isn't really about), but sure, this would be a welcome addition.

My memory must be pretty bad, because the only voice-overs I remember in that game were a few umpire calls and the batter yelling "OH, COME ONNNN!" time to time. Then there was the organ music with the electric guitar.

If someone can show me a video of what game BrianM207 is talking about, I'd be interested to see. Maybe he's mixing up an SNES baseball video game with ESPN NFL 2K5?

I'd be for MLB Network, though. Like all things, The Show (as a program) is a little tired. I feel the same with 2K Sports (as a program) and EA Sports as well. Thankfully, EA nabbed ESPN (I still think 2K using ESPN was a prouder moment in history though).

Sorry, it was the actual Baseball Tonight video game not Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball.

I dug up the short 30 second trailer they aired for it back in the mid 90s...

It's just a quick clip but its Berman talking about "tonights matchup"

Hell Yes! MLB needs to do whatever they can and should offer help to promote their sport in The Show.

Without a doubt. It's the perfect transition to fix a stagnant and unimpressive broadcast gameplay. Also the franchise and RTTS options are limitless with all the personalities.

2K and Turner Sports have already begun integrating this and ESPN's short lived NFL 2K series did it very well. Surprised it hasn't been done yet, hopefully it's not a matter of money.

Re: Should The Show team up with Mlb Network?

yes this is a MUST HAVE for this series. have at least a lead in to all the days games on like a brief MLB Tonight thing with upcoming games for t hat day and pitcher match ups.

we could even have a edited down version of quick pitch. a group of highlights from each game. as much as i love my radio show and i really do. i listen to every day of it in my season and use it in my franchise recaps over on TheShowNation.com.

hey we could even go as far as put in the Bob Costas and John Smoltz broadcast team as well... (hint hint, wink, wink, Nudge, Nudge)

I recall DrJones saying something like Bob Costas was impossible to work with during production of Triple Play Baseball.

Matt Vasgergian and John Smoltz work together on fox. I wouldn't mind having Vasgergian and Smoltz together.

I don't mind not having a story in rtts but having MLB Network involved would be cool. Having Gregg Amsinger and Harold Reynolds from MLB Tonight break down major events throughout your career from the studio. Seeing split camera interviews after a good performance or winning an award would be a great addition for rtts.
