You're right actually. These are issues that have existed for a few seasons now and they are issues that need to be rectified or I cannot warrant another purchase of this game for 16. There are simply too many glaring issues in my opinion that honestly make this game one of the most unrealistic sports experiences I've ever played. As it stands, I've removed this game from my PS4 and am going to play basketball until the developers fix these issues or even acknowledge that they are issues because as currently constructed, in my opinion of course, this game simply isn't good and I wouldn't give it more than a 6/10.

Re: My 3 years in Review of MLB The Show 15
You guys are forgetting about the change-ups too! I just finished a 162 of my 2023 Pirates franchise and I started out using the catcher calling the games pitch wise (classic pitching) and after the 1st month I was sick of scratching my head and yelling at my tv "why are you asking for that pitch in that situation?!!"
So I started tracking the cpu pitch calling against myself as the hitter, Here's what I found.... while they seem to have the 1st pitch strike thing worked out including walks. the change-up ratio was crazy! almost 36%.. that's nuts and off speed stuff in general was called way too often. And if you struck out a couple times via the change.. get ready for change-up city..
But I also found on traditional Fastball counts even with say your #5 starter you rarely saw said FB. almost 80% of the time I saw change's or breaking pitches? too much.. hopefully with the new "Sabermetrics approach" this will get looked at as wellMLB The Show Hybrid Roster ContributorComment

And on the other side as the pitcher, if I try to emulate fastball ratios of guys that lean heavily on the fastball, I'll start getting hit because "I'm not mixing it up enough".
Except...the average rate some type of fastball is thrown (2-seam, 4-seam, cutter) is 62% across the league among SP and a touch higher for relievers at 64%
So 3-out-5 pitches up to 2-out-of-3 pitches being fastballs is *average*. Let alone some pitchers who throw it even more.
I shouldn't have to pitch every guy like Paco Rodriguez (Dodgers reliever who's noted for his very infrequent use of fastballs). I mean if I have a guy with a 102 MPH fastball and a 96 MPH cutter, I should be able use at LEAST the MLB average frequency of fastballs."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Well this descended quickly. A mod could close this please. Plenty of threads for complaining about the game. Not what I was intending. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: My 3 years in Review of MLB The Show 15
I agree 100%. I too have a big problem with the fielding/animations this year, and the commentary is way past its salvage date. Like Blzer, issues with the ball physics continue to trouble me.
I've thought about going back to '14, but "Back of the house" improvements to franchise mode, settings, and the overall core menu systems in each mode (everything is so much more efficient and intuitive, from scouting to roster management, than it ever was previously) keep me here. '15 definitely made superb strides in those areas.
Overall the game is solid. It's a beautiful house, but there are cracks in the sheetrock that have been there for far too long. I hope the time comes when the cracks are truly addressed and filled, instead of just painted over.Last edited by Bobhead; 09-21-2015, 06:35 PM.Comment

Re: My 3 years in Review of MLB The Show 15
I loved 14. Fantastic game.
15 is better on far too many subtle under the hood levels in the core gameplay.
I have never been able to go back and play previous versions for any extended period of time.
But I agree that some legacy issues need to be fixed (pickoffs flying into the stands, still too many lazy outfielder animations costing me runs, catcher play on swinging bunts and nubbers etc).
But I am at the point now as well that play by play and commentary needs a complete refresh.
It really really does.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 09-24-2015, 06:04 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: My 3 years in Review of MLB The Show 15
While I respect the decision to go back to 14, I know I couldn't. 15 does have it's issues but overall I find it a far better game, and is my favorite MLB the Show I've ever played.
Plus I don't think I could handle going back to 14 because grounding into easy double plays when I square up a pitch perfectly and watching CPU outfielders make highlight reel catches on my hard hit balls in the gap EVERY SINGLE TIME is enough to make me turn it off (especially after playing 15).
Also, I don't think I should be allowed to play 14 anymore since I am one of those people who abused the old trading system. Seriously my team is ridiculous and it's all thanks to 14.
Not criticizing your decision just throwing in my 10 cents.Comment

Re: My 3 years in Review of MLB The Show 15
It's strange but some games are taking from me, and some are giving to me. beside some weird animations...some pitches looks unhittable when crunch time is in play. I feel cheated and rewarded at times but that's baseball you know whatta mean lol!!Last edited by DmaXmius101; 09-24-2015, 11:28 AM.Comment
