    Player's energy level

I have player's that have very low energy after 6 games, even when the team has had an off day recently. Does playing a player with low energy affect their performance (more prone to errors, no power, etc.)? Are they more at risk at getting an injury?

    Thanks

The player's ratings get penalized when they are tired and yes, they are more at risk of injury. I don't recall exactly what the max penalty is, but I want to say 20% which is the same as the fielding penalties for having someone play at a secondary position so I could be wrong.

I have the same problem-- certain players need a day off it seems once a series and in real life probably play 145-155 games a year... is there a fix for this?

Maybe you are doing it too soon? You should the so and so needs a day off message on the line-up screen when it is really necessary to bench them and that isn't until they are below 20% energy

Usually what I do, is when I get the "player needs a rest" message, I play them that day and give them the next game off. If I have a decent lead, or if I feel player isnt contributing, I will pull him around the 7th inning.

Does having a DH for a game improve his energy level for the next game? If you pull him in the 7th does that improve his energy level?

A DH will still use energy, but being he is only batting, it doesnt disipate as fast. I havent really noticed if it has or hasnt helped keeping a player out the 2 or 3 extra innings. I like to think it does, but cant say 100%.

Im one of those guys that will play my full lineup 4 or 5 games in a row and then I will go with my "Sunday" lineup in which I will put all of my bench players in. I usually dont play a guy that has close to 50% energy because at that point ive realized they dont hit or field as well as a fresh backup (depending on the player of course). I think the team can do a better job next year in the player energy department for both position players and pitchers. Its really the only thing I dont like about this years' game.

                  Re: Player's energy level

The DH will gain energy for the next game depending on several factors. Think about it this way. Playing certain positions will drain energy. The amount drained is dependent on the length of time playing that position (i.e. the length of the game) and the position itself. Meanwhile energy is recovered every night based on the players durability. If a player plays a whole game at 3b say, even if their durability is at 99 they will still lose a little bit of energy because (energy gained - energy taken) is still negative.

Playing the DH position obviously takes the least amount of energy. As a result, most players end up positive after the (energy gained - energy taken) equation. They won't get as much as if they sat on the bench, but a full 9 innings usually ends up with a positive for a player whose durability is above 50.

Extra innings are a different story however. I've noticed that in those cases games can last long enough that energy is taken away from the DH.

Pro tip: If your game is turning into a blowout, subbing out players can turn the (energy gained - energy taken) equation into a positive, letting them gain energy even though they started.

It may not be true to life, but I still find it a fun mechanic within the game.

                    Re: Player's energy level

I routinely use the DH spot for my big bats that are getting tired.

Say a players energy is getting low. I'll put that player in at DH then use a suitible replacement in the field to keep his bat in the lineup. Then I'll pinch hit for him after 3 AB's to keep him fresh.

In my current season I really don't have an everyday DH because I'm constantly subbing guys in and out.

i think if you adjust durability it helps. i say this because in my franchise, i have a shortstop who has 98 durability and he rarely misses a game for me.
