Going Through My Worst Hitting Slump

Recently, I can't seem to get more than 3-5 hits a game. When I say recently, I mean a good 2-3 weeks of play (not every day, but close). Unreal. I feel like the timing on my swings has been good (although most of my "good" timed swings still wind up going foul or result in an out), but I'm just not getting the results and it is a little frustrating.

Any tips you guys have for breaking out of the cold snap?

if you are getting 3-5 hits a game, then you are a God. majority of real life big leaguers usually go maybe 1-4, 2-4. not many actually go 3-4 or even 4-4 or 4-5. those are like god like numbers.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about franchise...

Anyways, when I am in a slump I tend to take a lot more pitches and wait for something to drive, even if it means taking a couple of strikes to start an at-bat.

ya sorry was thinking RTTS for some reason. but ya like you said, you just have to try and be patient. i sometimes get too aggressive if im struggling.

Step away from the game for one week.

Just take a break. Trust me that usually does the trick.

When you come back....be patient. work counts, take pitches. Get more selective again. Your pressing probably.

For the most part of this season, I would switch back and forth between timing and analog. It seemed to help in the short term, but I would always go back to slumping.

I agree with taking a break. When I take a good, week long break, I always come back more selective and patient. If I wait too long though, I lose my touch.

Thanks, guys. Going to pull the plug on quick counts, too, as I'm sure that's not helping.

I pulled the plug on them in 15 after playing them exclusively in 14. Although they are fun and a time saver I just felt something missing.

I just love working the counts, seeing all my pitches. I drew 6 walks last night non quick counts. I also fell in love with zoom 3 as my hitting camera. Absolutely love how it really puts me in the box and see the ball so good as if I am standing in the box myself.

Basically feels like the old school camera from the very first World Series Baseball from Sega Genesis. That helped me so much this year in becoming an even better hitter.

this happened to me in DD, i was shut out 3 straight games, lost 4 of 6. then then i won a game 1-0, but still wasn't getting hits. so i just quit thinking, started just reacting to the pitch. if that doesn't work for you, just quit swinging unless its right down the middle, it's ok to take a strike if you wouldn't have gotten good contact on it anyway.

Loved that game on the Genesis! I haven't touched the hitting camera in a few years; I'll check that out and see if that helps, too.

Re: Going Through My Worst Hitting Slump

Whenever anyone is in a slump... you, me, the pros, an NBA team, who cares... you get overly aggressive trying to force results out of nothing. In baseball terms, that means swinging for the sake of trying to get a hit. Obviously that's the key to getting a hit, but you have changed your approach.

The next few times you play, the first time through the order, take until you get a strike. The hope is that the pitcher will already be a few pitches deep into the count time to time, and you may potentially get a hitters count, coax out a walk, or lower the pitcher's confidence in some pitches just enough that they aren't always corner-pitching you. Then the next time though, all bets are off. Either they're stable and you have to see how you're reading pitches then (and may you're in the lead at that point and feeling more comfortable about yourself), or you're facing another slump and you'll just have to try it again next game.

The last thing you need is to tell yourself you're slumping, though. That's not easy to break, we all do it. But a physical slump also becomes mental, which becomes physical... you get it.

                      Good luck!

Good idea. Although the quick counts provide a time saver and maybe a bit of excitement, I honestly think that it throws you off. I feel that I can't take control of an AB if I'm not able to run the count a bit. Starting an AB 3-2, 2-2, or 1-2 is gonna make you anxious and want to swing at everything lol. I only use quick counts when I wanna blow through a quick franchise game (I don't like simulating).

                          I feel your pain.

I was playing almost daily during the summer. I was doing so well at the plate, I went up to All-Star and, much to my surprise, I kept hitting there.

I've only had a chance to play a handful of games since September, and I've lost my mojo. The Yankees swept me, winning 6-1, 5-1 and 9-0. I hope I get my mojo back soon or I'll have to drop back to Veteran for awhile.

I wish quick counts had an option to only be enabled for pitching I am just to much of a noob to go into a bat already down 2.

But I also was recently in a slump took a week off and am doing better now.
