    Release Date

Does anyone know if we will see again a 1st Tues in March release date again or are we stuck with 1st week of April date going forward?

    Re: Release Date

In the near future, any and all MLB licensed console games will be released to coincide with the opening of the MLB season. That means MLBTS, RBI or any new entries.

As much as I love the show, do we ever need another game or two of simulation baseball, or at least bring back the bigs for fun.

Competition is always a good thing in video games.

MLB and RBI have a mutual interest.

It's funny people keep saying this, yet since 1996 SCEA is the only one still around, (RBI is new) so they must be doing something right.

Competition doesn't mean jack. Visual Concepts/2K were competitors and look where that ended up. MVP/ASB ended 11 years ago and aren't coming back anytime soon.

I agree, but remember that the demise of MVP was initially due to licensing issues. (NCAA Baseball was just a shell of MLB MVP, hence it only lasted 2 years).

I'm not sure if the same MLB licensing agreements are in place today, but 2K had the only 3rd party rights to make a game. Sony has the rights to make a game for Playstation consoles, MS has the rights to make a game for Xbox consoles, and presumably Nintendo has rights as well. But EA, along with all other 3rd party publishers were left out of it. Not coincidentally, all of this happened a year after EA locked up Madden exclusivity and forced NFL 2K out of the game.

In an ideal world, the NFL would abandon the exclusive license to EA, and we'd get NFL 2K back. And MLB would allow MVP baseball to be made again. And while we're at it, for the love of Pete, can't someone make a better NHL game than that disappointment we get every year in the EA NHL series.

But I digress, I'm just sooooo thankful MLB The Show is a high quality game since it is the only choice we have.

I'm pretty sure that any company can make MLB games now if they want.

D/L Supermega baseball. It has received excellent reviews and is a lot of fun to play, has excellent ball physics, pitching and batting.

It's been 2 years already and nothing..........that should tell people something. EA has publicy stated they have no interest in baseball currently.

Yep, and even when 2k made a baseball game it was so bad each year that SCEA didn't have competition then, so its really no different now than it was when MLB2k was around.

I hear people all the time say competition is needed, and probably with certain games that's true, but I think the devs that make MLBTS have high standards anyway to make the best game possible each year, whether there was competition or not.

I hope RBI step their game up! I don't know if they can.....

As far as the release date goes. Is a good thing for me because the roster arent accurate with Spring Training still going on. I don't usually start my yearly franchise until Opening Day rosters are set. But with the implement of year to year carryover it will be moot point for some..

Ya no, you don't get it. MVP, High Heat and all star baseball, even 2K back in 2005 were all good franchises. Baseball games didn't disappear because of quality. A game would have been coming to us sooner had the EA madden debacle never happened.
As for super mega baseball, I own it we all know it's not the same, as fun as it was for a month or two
