Is it time for "the show" to implement "inside edge" like MLB 2K?

I would love for San Diego to implement this feature. I love the dynamics of inside edge and the OSD when you're at bat or pitching. It was the best feature in MLB 2K.

Dynamic Tendencies - Player performance fluctuates dynamically as player ratings update from pitch to pitch and at-bat to at-bat.
Inside Edge & Stats Inc. - Strategize for each at-bat with authentic scouting reports and data from Inside Edge & Stats Inc.

Can you better explain what inside edge even is?? I don't play MLB 2K because I have MLB The Show.

Been a while since I played 2k. But I recall you could scout the pitcher and see what % of the time he threw what pitches. Could eliminate pitches with certain guys.....

I never liked inside edge. I always felt it made the game easier to play so I always turned it off.

I am all for it so long as its dynamic. The tendencies never changed. If it changes on a game to game basis (or even season), I can see some real value. Otherwise, it is just fluff.

Yes, I asked for in the MLB 16 Ideas thread that Russell posted awhile back.

            This is what I said:

"1. INSIDE EDGE: This was really cool when 2k did this for their game a couple years ago. You could see what hitters were more likely to chase out of the zone when behind in the count, hitters that had issues with hard stuff in, hitters that take the first pitch, as well as having similar information on pitchers like hard stuff early in the count in and off speed stuff late and away. This could add another layer to the hitter/pitcher battle IMO."

I think it would give the hitters a real life feel. I mean there are things that we know about hitters from watching a game, like Papi struggles with off-speed stuff away, but crushes fastballs in. If this was implemented based off real data sky's the limit. The show is already my favorite game, but this would take it to the next level.

I actually disagree with this. These tendencies are tendencies for a reason it takes more than a few good AB's to change a tendency. Just because Ortiz is 5/10 against lefties to start the season, doesn't mean he is going to hit .500 for the season. It should be based off actual data from previous seasons. Now if user control over the course of a season of play in franchise changes the tendency, then I would agree and hope that it could dynamically change.

Maybe I'm losing it but don't we already have hot & cold zones for batters and different pitch type ratings for pitchers? Personally, knowing that David Ortiz struggles low and away on an 0-1 count during the day, while facing right-handed 3/4 arm angle pitcher(s) with mustaches at temperatures lower than 65 degrees sucks all the fun out of playing the game.

                  Then don't use it.

I loved Inside Edge in the 2K games.
It added more depth to the game and really helped me learn about players from around the league.
Going into an AB knowing a pitcher favoured breaking balls or a 4-seamer gave me an idea what to expect and how to adjust my approach.

It's little things like that which really immerse the player so that not every game and AB felt the same.

I realize the 2K series is a laughing stock in the Show forums and many members feel the need to dismiss anything that series had to offer.
However, it did have many great qualities that should be considered for MLB 16 and beyond.

Inside Edge was fun, but I was hoping it could be used in ways that like we "had to remember" or something. For instance, a mound conference could be used to talk about the next three batters' scouting reports, and then they will be available on display for you. Things like that.

Gary Thorne and that crowd ambiance tho. Just saying!

I won't. 2K baseball wasn't bad at all and parts were better than the show some year(s).
