Still using MLB 14 I love demo-ing my stride whenever it's possible. If it's a short leg kick, I may stride just to get my players kinetic energy flowing (even though it's not real lol). With a high leg kick or something more elaborate, theres always a dynamic feeling at the plate. When I'm foreign to a player completely, I'll take a pitch and fully simulate the stride timing out for the best chance to gauge timing. I spend plenty of time in the cages of practice mode for the fun of it. Unfortunately, all of that striding at the plate is no longer available but I'll go the whole PS4 cycle without it in favor of this format. Having a perfect stride does not mean automatic contact or anything, in the zone + analog depending on your level chosen. Likewise, getting your stride jammed up or mis-timed does not mean you won't make great contact especially with certain players. Nothing feels better to me than the PS4 version of the zone+analog,
I came from using the timing buttons and I never thought I would switch even though I used to always envy my brothers who played 2K with the stride control but I also thought it was gimmicky. Once 2012 came around, I eventually realized I should at least give the analog control a try. It took months to actually feel like I could even try using it in a game every day (franchise mode). With that said, it was always a very worthwhile addition. Now I maximize the difficulty (stride & contact sliders) and have a blast and I look forward to getting back into it this spring.
