    Too many close games

Need some forum help. Im 22 days in to May playing a 2 team franchise (80 games played combined now). Stats look great overall and Im very happy as far as that goes. My issue/problem, I can not win or lose a game over 1 or 2 runs. Ive had maybe 5 games Ive lost by 4 or 5 runs, but I can not get a blow out win/lose, and I cant get a big lead. Ive had a great variety of games. Pitching duels, hammer time games, small ball games. Every game though, I could have a 5 run lead, or a 7 run deficit (examples), but in the end, I win or lose by 1 or 2 runs. Through 80 games, Im past the ouw and awe of close games. Im not really sure what I can do or what can be done to seperate the games more. Any insight or help would be great.

Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

    re: Too many close games

If I wanted to open up batting more (more hits/runs), which would be better? My pitching seems a little overpowered. ERA's are a little lower then I would like. But my strike out and walks seem pretty par over the whole league. Even a little low if by comparison.

    Currently Hum/CPU
    Contact 5/5
    Power 5/5
    Timing 5/5
Foul Freq 2/2 (was 3/3, just changed it 2 games ago)
    Solid Hits 4/4

Would I want to up Contact or Solid hits?

What's interesting to me is that I think you're using MikeLowe's sliders like I am, and I've had a really good mix of close games and blowouts. I'll see several 2-3 run games and then I'll see a few 7-10 run games. I'm 109 games in with my Braves franchise, so I also have a good sample size.

Im actually using A&S sliders. Im also using the OSFM V.2 roster. I do like Mikes sliders though and his broadcasts are great to watch. Ive toyed with them.
When I say 2-3 run games, I dont mean the score. I mean the deficit. I see a good variety of scores, but for instance I went and looked at the month of May (now on May 26th) and I had 3 games where the Indians won or lost by more then 3 runs and the Braves had 5 games where they won or loss by 3 or more runs.

It very well could just be thats the way it is going in the early days of the season. Im not unhappy with the stats or gameplay for the most part. Its more the ouh and awe of close games are gone. Up by 6, lose by 2 in the ninth. Losing by 4 and win by one. Hold a 4 run lead for 6 innings and only win or lose by 1 or 2. I had 1 game where the Braves lost 0 - 6 and I was happy just because it was a big loss lol.

*** DISCLAIMER: NO I do not think or believe this has ANYTHING to do with the mythical comeback code that is going around.

I usually up the contact and timing for myself to 7 or 8. I also up the AI contact and timing to 7. Because my ERAs were much too low, and I was getting blown away pitching on HOF difficulty. I find I have good scores with this. Some close games, some blow outs on each side.

Ya, thats my dilemma atm. Whether to up contact to 6 or up solid hit to 5. Im seeing a lot of chopper and worm burners by heavy hitters (both me and CPU) which is resulting in more then normal DP's. But my speed/contact hitters are hitting HR and doubles like no ones business. However for the HR and XBH's they arent over extreme. They are staying in line for the most part. But mine and the cpu pitchers are averaging 6 - 8 strikeouts and about 2 - 5 walks a game, which I am ok with. I would like to see guys like Kluber and Carrasco striking out more bats, but that is a sim vs play games K and BB /9 issue. So all in all, I want more hits and more runs without effecting batting averages to much. So would raising solid hit help with better hits, but not hurt guys still striking out or chasing pitches?

I messed around with solid hits a bit last year. To me everything was hit too hard and in the air. I had a small sample size of about 3 games however. I just didn't care for it. I've tried about every slider combo I could come up with. For me contact and timing up a few ticks is what I have the most fun with. I've ended up with pretty realistic batting averages for the most part.

I see a few sets that have solid hit at 6...... Just seems to me that that would just be big hit city. However Nomo showed screenshots of batting averages through May and they seemed pretty fair. Now he is a cpu vs cpu guy, so they are simmed. Im hoping some of the gurus see this. I know one, either the contact or the solid hits, only has a minor batting average adjustment, but dont remember which one it is. I cant for the life of me find the thread where I read it back in like June or July I think it was.
