So having the PCI move until the point of CONTACT instead of where it is when the first detection of the swing button being pressed happens, that would be very nice. Even if the PCI position lock happend just a few hundredths of a second later from when the swing button press was detected could make a huge difference.

This should be on the wish list.

      Re: Directional hitters

I think The Show makes hitting overly complicated. The directional hitting was wack, and in zone hitting, moving the cursor to precisely the right location and hitting 'x' at the right time is too much.

In real baseball, it's much more about instincts and mostly just about timing and deciding whether or not to swing, not where to swing.

In The Show I often find myself getting a meaty fastball on 3-1 that I knew was coming, and often pop it up or ground out because I moved the cursor slightly too low or too high. A good baseball player is going to square that up the majority of the time.

This is why MVP Baseball 2005 had the most intuitive, realistic hitting mechanism ever. It was largely timing based, and the joystick allowed you to push or pull the ball-- just like real baseball. In MVP Baseball you could look inside fastball with a guy like Sheffield, and if you got that pitch, you could destroy it. In The Show, it seems like the outcome is determined by the precise location of your cursor combined with some hidden algorithm.

I also think mvp baseball nailed the hitting mechanic. Especially on the highest difficulty level. I do like directional hitting though. Are there guys out there still using it. I like that attributes play a larger role in the outcome.

I know this is an older post but I am just now seeing that. Isn't that exactly how the devs described directional hitting when they first implemented it? I'm not sure why it would have come as a surprise to anyone.
