How do you guys play The Show? Are you more casual or serious about it? I used to never get a season/franchise going because I was constantly tweaking things, but I think I'll probably have more fun just letting things be.

Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
So I've decided that starting this year, I'm going to just play casually and enjoy myself. If certain CPU stats are a little off during a season, I'm not going to worry about it. If I get started and realize my sliders are a little too easy or difficult, I'll adjust them but I won't restart my season because of it. I'm going to accept that The Show is an excellent video game simulation of baseball, but that any video game will always have something that isn't quite identical to the real thing.

I'm more casual, focusing mainly on RTTS but dabbling in other modes.
I have always been amazed at how detailed and seemingly nitpicky some folks get over tiny details, but to each their own. -

I play for serious fun. But the fun can get too serious and cause me to slightly stress over my franchise, batting avg, RTTS stats, DD record, etc. [emoji12][emoji12]Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
You might want to word the question differently. I've always considered my game world it's own little universe, so even though it's based on real life, it's allowed to be different. It's a fantasy. Still, I take dealings within that fantasy world (relatively) seriously, even though I'm not concerned with following the real world even the slightest.
So umm, both?Comment

Both!
I like it to be accurate to a point...then by June, I just have fun.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Click on the link in my signature and you'll see my answer. Anyone that runs a site for their franchise probably takes MLB The Show a little TOO seriously... and that obviously includes myself.Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
It's both for me. Online franchise I play for fun and try to play as few different teams. Offline I take very seriously. I play a 30 team controlled franchise. I follow all day to day transaction and injuries. But only play as the Mets.MLB: New York Mets
NFL: New York Giants
NBA: New York Knicks
NCAAF: Rutgers Scarlet Knights/Michigan Wolverines
NCAAB: Michigan WolverinesComment

Both, if it's not fun why bother playing...When I was younger I used to get pissed when I would lose..Maturity is a great thing...PSN-Shugarooo

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
Statistical accuracy is a key ingreident to my enjoyment of a baseball game. Fortunately The Show has always really been close enough for me yet also provide the odd ball season for guys you least expect.
That is baseball at it's finest.
I play this game for fun as I do every single game I own. But nothing has ever simulated the game I love (on the console) better than MLB The Show. I play to win of course and get pissed when I lose big games, playoffs etc.....but that is part of the fun for me.
I don't get too crazy if some things are a little off statistically (which will happen from time to time). I don't restart franchises. I always play them out regardless of what happens. I also have several going for variety and fun!
I can't say it enough, that the advent of Y2Y saves is probably the single best feature to ever come out for a sports game in the last 30 years. I have no worries about having to finish before the next iteration comes out anymore. So I have classic seasons going and 2 franchises going to carry over....it's glorious.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 02-23-2016, 07:01 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
casually. Being a dad of 2 with a pretty full day schedule, i don't have time to sink in an hour per game... but i still need my baseball fix, so i turn off all the bells and whistles (fast play, no walk ups, no umpire checks, quickcounts on... etc).
I wish they'd implement a higher camera angle so i could play timed hitting, without all the camera transitions. I think it'd be a fun mode to play, especially co op.Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
I guess to clarify what I mean by "serious" is that I would be unhappy with anything in the game that wasn't a perfect simulation of the real world. So, for example, I'd hate it when a guy would be out of MLB the previous year and would therefore be in The Show as a created player, which meant I couldn't use him (I refuse to play with CAP players).
I think I'll still insist on only using players with a photo but, otherwise, I'm just gonna play and not worry about things that aren't completely identical to the real thing. Hey, verfremdungseffekt doesn't have to be a bad thingComment
