Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
I try to run the organization like I feel a real team would and play the game of baseball with respect for the sport. However it's not life or death if I win/lose. I'm not going to restart if I get lit up for 7 runs in the 1st inning.
So I take my franchise seriously but I just have fun with it.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

I play seriously because it's fun to be immersed. I'm choked that performance progression, IMHO, breaks the game because of what happens to the pitching so early.
I don't mind losing my fair share of games but I'd like to have stats that work and make sense.Comment

Playing the game? What is this sorcery you speak of?
I have barely played this at all in the last two years, I've modded it.
Which is fun to me. And scratches my OCD itch.Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
I played 15 "seriously" the first 2 1/2 weeks it was out until I perfected it, then casually for fun afterwards. Then grinding a bit during the triple play and double play challenge era, then back to fun.
Basically, just casual fun until something presents itself to where I need to focus.
[Edit] After seeing what you define as serious, I'm nowhere near that serious.Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
I take it as seriously as a well-functioning adult man should, and then I lie about it
I don't know. What is serious and what is fun? Is there fun in taking it seriously?
I take it seriously in the sense that I don't restart games just to win. I prefer to lose than win in an unrealistic way.
I don't take it seriously in the sense that I've never thrown the controller at the screen. When someone stupid happens you just have a little WTF just happened moment and get 'em next time.
Like any good game there are tense moments that momentarily make your nervous or excited or whatever. But it doesn't carry over into normal everyday life.
I kind of feel "fun" has become a bad word in the video game industry lately, but I feel the same way.Last edited by Spokker; 02-27-2016, 11:59 AM.Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
I guess it depends on your own definition of seriously. I'm not a perfectionist. If things are a little out of whack with real life with the game, or if the stats are a bit off, ect, I live with it and deal. Move on.
But when I do play, I take each game very seriously and try to do the best that I can. I get immersed in all 162, and take every pitch seriously.
Like with any video game, be it sports, or action or RPG, if I'm going to buy it, I'm going to take it very seriously and put all of the time I have available into it. But I also am ok living with the limitations each game may have.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

AINT NO FUN IN BASEBALL! I'm one of those guys who didn't make it to the Majors outside of college! So it's serious 24/7 I watch every pitch and player at bat. Created a player with low base stats started a franchise and I build from there. I became even more serious when year to year saves dropped. So my virtual SS can live out my virtual dream!
Just wished for better movement and animations while playing SS on defense but didn't see anything on the streams. Thankful for the new running animations though!Proud member of the 0.04%Comment

Re: Do you play The Show serious or just have fun?
I definitely don't take things as serious as you do when it comes to the little details. If something in the game is off a bit, it may strike me as disappointing initially, but you just need to remember that its a game and not real life and accept and embrace it for what it is. If something really bugs you about the game, voice your opinions in the various improvement threads that pop up here every so often.
But when it comes to the way I play, I have never been one of those serious types of players that would throw controllers, break things or just get angry about losing. i'm a very cool-headed person and have a lot on my plate to stress over during my work days. So when I am on the couch in front of 'The Show', thats my "Me Time" and I keep that time care free and stress free, lifes too short to blow a gasket over a game. lol I played a Diamond Dynasty game online last year and got absolutely blown out. I didn't get angry or frustrated, I actually was laughing along at how badly I was getting killed. Thats just the type of personality I have.
I am serious about the time I devote to the game, but in that time I spend playing, I play strictly to have fun, enjoy myself and escape my real life stress.Comment

Mostly just for fun now a days. I was very serious when I was younger. But I grew out of that.Comment
