    Need some help with contracts

I'm trying to get through the offseason of my Rays franchise so I'm ready to start spring training when MLB 16 drops. I'm going through the roster and ran into a player that wasn't interested in re-signing with the team. So I advance to the start of next season just to see if he's off my roster but when I look he's still there. I check out what his contract is and it's just blank. Does anyone know what's happening?

He didn't like your offer, but due to his service time, he can't sign elsewhere because you offered him something. I had this happen a couple times, you can probably sign him, but I don't think he can play just on your roster, he needs to sign something first.

umm, isn't the contract renewable? Can't you just renew him in February? If you don't, doesn't he become a free agent? I'm very confused by this situation.

Depending on service time he is either renewable, arbitration eligible or a free agent. The game should tell you which one it is. If he is arbitration eligible you will make an offer and there will be an arbitration date. If he is renewable when you look at the calendar there will be a date by which you must renew his contract.
