    Re: MLB 16 PS3 or PS4?

I'm probably one of the few PS4 owners who isn't going to tell you that you need to upgrade. Really that's something you need to decide for yourself.

HOWEVER, and this is important, you said you were using an original ps3. You, my friend, are gaming on borrowed time. The most of the original ps3s died out years ago due to heating and hardware issues. I spent a fair amount of money to keep mine alive, and in the end selling it did not come close to recuperating the repair costs. Even worst, 1rst gen PS3s are like a Stradivarius: Game too often on them, they break. Game too little on them, they break.

My advice in the end is: Get a PS4, I don't see that 1rst gen PS3 lasting much longer.

I bought my PS4 and my sons with my tax money last year so if you have tax money coming back then there you go, i love the show on PS4 and so will you and especially this year with most features being PS4 only.

I also bought a PS4 last year for the sole purpose of The Show 15.

I was able to trade in my PS3 for $175 credit towards the PS4. Opened up an account with the store I purchased it from to get an additional 10% off as well. Got the console, a game included with the console (The Last of Us, which is pretty awesome) and The Show for about $275. Paid off the account and then canceled it.

I would look around in your area to see if there are any specials for trade-ins available.

I bought 2 ps4s so I can play in the living room or the bedroom. No regrets. The Show is amazing.

                I would appreciate some direction.

I know this can be a sensitive topic because not everybody has the same amount of disposable income but...I don't get why game makers are still producing PS3 games in 2016. I mean, just think how much further along The Show could've been by now if they didn't have to make multiple versions (don't even get me started on the Vita...). If people saved $100-150 dollars a year (YEAR, not month!) from the time the PS4 came out, they could've bought it by now.

                    Okay, rant over

Yeah, it's really hard to justify the upgrade when you don't have the disposable income. Unless you're just an insane person like I am.

When I bought mine, I was surviving at the time on odd jobs, but I knew that once The Show 14 came out, I had to have a PS4 lol. There was no way I was playing on PS3 knowing there was an awesome next gen version out there. I have a bit of OCD here and there, so once I became fixated on the PS4 and next-gen The Show I couldn't get it out of my mind.

So 4 months or so before release I started saving what I could, just $10 here, $5 here. Then I sold my PS3 and got what I could for it, which helped. Then I went through my DVD/Blu-Ray collection and sold everything that I didn't really want/need to own anymore. The stupid purchases you sometimes make when you *do* have disposable income. Who really needs a hard copy of The Pineapple Express? Nobody... that's who.

In the end, I scraped up enough to get the PS4 about a month before the game came out. But I didn't have enough for any games to go with it lol. I had my $60 earmarked for The Show and I had exhausted all my other quick money options, so I would go through and download free demos of games from the PS Store, or just play around in the menus. Let me tell you, that was a LONG month owning a shiny PS4 but having nothing to play... staring at it longingly on the shelf... daydreaming of crushing homers. Using at as a glorified Blu-Ray/Netflix machine. But once release day came... it was glorious.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend that route to anyone. It worked for me, but most people have their priorities together a little bit better than I do. Take care of what's important first. But if you *do* think you can spare a few bucks here and there, and maybe you've got some old electronics or blu-rays lying around, or old games you don't play anymore... There are ways to make it happen if you want it bad enough lol.

EDIT: Also, just wanted to say I agree about wishing they'd stop producing the PS3 version. Having those extra resources added to the PS4 version would go a long way IMO.

                      Re: MLB 16 PS3 or PS4?

I packed my bags and sold everything and left my country. I came back and had little money and needed something to keep me busy while I was at home without a lot to do. I bought a ps2 and NFL 2k4 and MLB The Show 07. I am now looking to upgrade to a ps3. Going that far back has helped me appreciate the PS3 version(s) of the game that I used to play. I have had a PS4 and I was disappointed in 14, hardly played 15 due to no stride but since playing 07 I have become a button hitter and am now looking to buy a ps4! I think either way you, I and others alike can be happy with either version. Up here in Canada is tax refund season and I just might blow it on a ps4 and a nice HD TV. God Bless America and their awesome sports video games.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Wondering who still buys this on ps3.

If u really can't or don't want to spend money why buying a new PS 3 version of this every year and not keep playing the one from 3 years back or at least last years for half the price.
On the other hand if you are able to spend 40 bucks on ps3 games you should be able to afford a ps4 after a while too...

And if you are a real casual gamer you probably can do the same and continue to play a few years old version of the game. Cos you simply don't mind.

Really beats me who this audience is still buying the game for ps3.

That would be me. There's absolutely no way that I can afford to drop $400 on a PS4, 3 digits on an HDTV and $60 on The Show. However, I can justify, at some point after bills are paid and the roommate's car is fixed, $40 on the PS3 version of The Show.

The thing is that I happen to live in an area of the country where rents are increasing at an out of control rate. My roommate and I are paying $1120 per month for a one bedroom apartment in the suburbs. There's a chance that the rent could increase significantly at lease renewal. This is happening all over where I live.

I can afford a PS4 but I'm happy with my PS3. EA's NHL is better on PS3 than PS4 and the upcoming Show with all those great changes, (a lot of them included in the PS3 version) sharing rosters across platform(s) and classic stadiums only on PS3 (until now). Not to mention the technological leap between PS3 and PS4 is small, compared to PS1-PS2 and PS2-PS3.

(I hate the stupid beards and pyjama uniforms that make my game look like a hillbilly jamboree, anyway. Last thing I need is to see each individual beard strand or moo-moo like outfit in more detail on the PS4.)

In answer to why do they still make a PS3 version, there's only one reason. It must still be profitable for them.
