I don't think at all that the development team doesn't care about franchise mode. However, I do deeply miss the days before online play, when franchise got the bulk of the attention in sports gaming. 10-12 years ago, I was worried that online would be the end of gaming as I know it. It hasn't yet come to pass like that, but its gradually trending in that direction, sadly. They have no realistic choice but to put time into the modes that I'll never play, and that means that the one mode that I do isn't as great as it might be.

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Franchise Mode
You know, there have been a lot of accusations that the devs don't care about franchise or don't pay attention to it, but I don't think that's true. People say the other modes make more money and are more popular, and that is true, but I think the devs understand that Franchise is the foundation of any sports game. I may not have personally liked the focus on stats the video showed, but you have to admit that it's what the community as a whole asked for and applaud the obvious effort to put it all in.
It's just like that Frank Underwood quote: Other modes are the McMansion in Sarasota that starts falling apart after 10 years. Franchise is the old stone building that stands for centuries.
I'm pretty sure that's how the quote goes.Comment

I like the new morale system I don't like the compatriot thing replace that with Market size and the I guess prestige or reputation of the team. Some guys might be attracted to the bright lights or maybe they prefer a quiet life in a smaller city.
One thing I'd like to see in Franchise is to be able to do practices or drills with the entire team or individual players playable fielding drills, pitching drills, batting cages.. I'd also love to see the Bowman scout day in Franchise or scheduling a workout where you can get a early look at a prospect. Something similar for veteran free agents to see if they have any stuff left in the tank before you sign them.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Franchise Mode
Quick counts quite literally was the best addition ever to this game. It completely rejuvenated my interest in the title and keeps the game fresh by offering interesting at bat challenges both pitching and hitting.
Prior to QC's it is just too easy to pitch in the zone. I felt like I had to try and walk somebody. I see it posted all over OS that guys rarely walk people without using QC's. I am generalizing. Yes there are people who get realistic walk rates without QC's. You're the minority.

The other thing that has me fully vested in this series is Year-to-Year Saves.
I started a Franchise on 14 with the Astros (I play one complete season and the following Spring per iteration of The Show). In 2014, I had the first pick in the draft (on the heels of the Astros 51-111 2013) and I took a SP named Omar Espinoza who was 18 years old.
In a month, I'll be playing the 2016 season. Omar will be 20 this season and his OVR is 72 (with A Potential). He's probably going to be just outside my 40-man roster at the beginning of this season but he could end up there before September (between his development, injuries and transactions - who knows?).
It is really cool to have this fictitious pitcher who I have privately been so excited for (and anticipating his arrival) for 2 (real) years now. It really makes me not even consider scrapping this Franchise and starting over. I really want to see how his career turns out.
That is the power of The Show, Year-to-Year saves and Franchise Mode.Last edited by steelerfan; 03-03-2016, 06:39 AM.Comment

does no one care about how the season feeling the same game 65 and game 155 there should be a playoff craze type atmosphere going on in those final games divisional games should be heated contest there should be tons of drama intense moments. I feel like in the franchise they don't capture the different atmosphere in the different games through out the year. Have the commentary speak on the playoff races starting with game 145 give us in game update like breaking news like EA did with college football and Fifa i wanna feel like I'm watching the showComment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Franchise Mode
Thats an excellent idea. Not every player wants to, or is wired to, play in NY or LA. Some guys are much happier in KC or Pittsburgh. Especially when it comes to signing free agents, I would LOVE if for some guys, that was a big factor. Player A wants the bright lights, and player B wants no part of them. It would be cool if some players also had a strong attachment to their current team if they've been there a while and/or had a lot of good times, and were more inclined to resign. Perhaps morale can take care of that on its own though.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

I definitely want something like this. I feel like little nuggets are there in the form of banners and small commentary.
From an overall immersion aspect I think SOTS was the focus. That's a step in the right direction for me.

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Franchise Mode
In regards to the playoff rosters, I asked Ramone via twitter and got the following response: @Ramone_Russell Won't be able to make the stream today. Have the postseason rosters been fixed? They use 40 man rosters for playoffs. thx. // @BMoreBlackBirds no stream today, and the 40 man isn't broken. // Had a brain fart knowing the stream wasn't yesterday. Anyway... not sure if that means playoff rosters are fixed, or they're not aware the rules they are following are incorrect. Hopefully someone can ask on the stream today as I won't be able to make it.Comment

Yea, one of the things I've been clamoring for is a training/practice mode in Franchise.
Example: Say Chase Headley is struggling in the field, you might get a popup in the lineup screen saying Chase could use some work in the field, then you have the option of fielding grounders and throwing to first base and based on a scoring system you could get boosts to your fielding stats.
Same thing if a guys is slumping vs. lefties you might get a popup asking to take extra B vs a lefty P, and you get points based on contact and such.
it'd be nice and would help you feel like you have some control over getting a guy out of a slump and what not.Comment

I will, unfortunately, be on the road when it happens. *sigh* guess it's another afternoon of blocking myself from looking at OS and waiting for the archive.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Franchise Mode
As far as stats are concerned, thats 99% of what I care about as well. Use the stats during the broadcast of the games. Put them up before at bats. Talk about the league leaders. Show how a guy has been doing lately.
We know that the game already has those abilities, because those kinds of things will show up from time to time. What I don't understand is why they seem to trigger so infrequently. While its cool to see something that I never have before, its also confusing as to why something will only pop up once in a blue moon.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment
