    Franchise Question

I couldn't find anything on it because I've been busy with school. Do they have contract extensions mid year now?

It seems like this year would have been the perfect time to include in season extensions.

Could someone be so kind as to explain to me why it's a big deal that you have mid-season contract extensions when you can just extend players in the offseason?

Like it kinda makes sense to have to wait until the offseason because it makes you pay more attention to morale. You lose a player's morale, it should be incredibly difficult to resign him or extend him, no?

My only concern with in season extensions is the cpu teams would retain all their potential free agents and there would be no free agents in the off season.

In real life contract extensions are given out all year. This can help teams sort out cap space.

                Re: Franchise Question

The part I dislike most about no in season extensions is the fact morale is tied to contracts.

So if you have a player who doesn't like their contract it sucks not being able to redo their deal so they aren't upset all year.

I mean realistically how often do players sign IN season extensions. Hardly ever. Especially in a walk year.

I don't remember exactly what they said in the stream, but it was something like only 7 or 8 players signed an extension in-season last year, and only 10 or so the year before that. so yeah, not very often at all.

                      Re: Franchise Question

Most extensions occur during arbitration and renewable years. The system is set up already to buy out free agent years of players.

Yeah, I think the team said there were 10 over the course of a year. It's really not worth including. I'd rather have the option to exchange cash in a trade.

You can redo their deal every off season prior to the season.

I think deferred money would be sweet to include. Could probably break the game, but it would make hitting a budget more fun.
