    30 Team Control Question

    Hey Guys,
Quick question because 16 will be the first time I use 30 team control for my franchise. Do you guys monitor all 30 teams rosters and lineups every day to insure they make baseball sense? Or do you just let the computer handle lineup/roster decisons on a day-to-day basis. I'm thinking of making sure all 30 opening day rosters are correct then letting the CPU handle the other 29 teams from there since I really only care about being able to veto stupid trades the CPU offers. But if the lineups/rosters are gonna get really screwed up for the CPU teams than I'll handle them all myself.

    Any advice? Thanks.

    Re: 30 Team Control Question

I only just started using 30 team control with 15 to keep the manager contracts set to off when/if I carry over to 16.

I however do not mess with any of the other teams. I enjoy the fictional universe side of things and do not monitor trades, contracts etc for any of the other 29 teams. For me its fun to see what happens with the computer teams and I really don't care if what happens is realistic or not.

      Re: 30 Team Control Question

I have done 30 team control for several years, and it is mostly to keep 11-man pitching staffs. I wish they gave you an option to make each team keep 10, 11 or 12-man pitching staffs.

If you have the DH and a 12-man staff, you literally have 3 players on your bench. You have an extra catcher, but he cannot be used without a lot of risk. A bench of 3 players is a joke to me.

I grew up watching the 5-man rotation and 5 bullpen guys, so there were fifteen positions. That meant you have the starting 8, and 7 back ups (6 if the catcher isn't counted for in-game subbing).

With this game, I let it go at 7 back-ups because I get tired of having to change so much, but when guys come back from injury or whatever, the computer instantly goes to a 12-man staff. To me, it is silly.

Aside from that, I don't mess with lineups unless it is something like having Adam LaRoache bat leadoff, and then I do change it.

        Re: 30 Team Control Question

I always use 30 Team control for the very reason you mentioned. I want my season/franchise to be as realistic as possible.

The joy in the game for me is to see what differences play out using the identical players and same moves as in real life. However, my personal strategy is to monitor one division i.e., National League East, closely as to lineups, bullpen, and roster moves. The other divisions I just make sure the same starting pitcher and the transactions are the same, not the lineups, as I discovered that takes too much of my time.
