Struggling to stick with something right now, but having just opened up with the Dodgers, i might have found my niche.

Game 1 vs San Diego, go 5 down in the 2nd as Kershaw is all over the place. He lasts until the 4th before I ahve to get the bullpen in. Then in the 7th we tie it with 5 of our own.

The Padres go back on top in the 8th, before a 2 run salvo in the 9th leads us to an unlikely win. We score 7 off 17 hits!

Game 2 and its role reversal. 4 up in the 1st frame leaves me thinking this could be a blow out. However Maeda coughs it up in the 6th, as he drops a no hitter and eventually watches a 3-run shot go over the fences to tie it at 4.

Bullpen time again, but its a brutal outing for us and we even 'balk' in a run as 6 more come home in the final innings to seal a 10-4 Padre win.

Beat the Mets in five games in the NLDS. Lost to the Dodgers in seven games in the NLCS.

Astros & Dodgers meet in the World Series. Dodgers sweep Astros to win the 2016 World Series.

Joe Maddon announces his retirement.

I LOVE this tread and would love to be a part of it.

First, let me tell you guys that I have not won a championship in ANY sports video game in the last decade. My last World Series win was back in 2001. So needless to say, I am in a drought.

My franchise is with the Toronto Blue Jays. We had a strong April and we were sitting in first in the AL east following the opening month. But things took an ugly turn starting with the back half of the Texas Rangers series. We have not lost 6 of 7 and 4 in a row. We are looking to avoid the sweep in San Fran. Record at the moment sits at 17-18. First time being under .500 all season.

We have made one deal so far. We sent Saunders and Bo Schultz to Seattle for Alex Jackson and Ryan Cook.

Talks are still on going with Bautista and Edwin to get them signed on past the 2016 season.

I also created a few missing Jays prospects (From OSFM rosters) Justin Maese (AA) Clinton Hollon (AA) and Reggie Pruitt (A)

I love these threads too guys. It's cool to see how everyone advances through their franchises though the ups and downs and what you guys do with your prospects and stuff. I bounce around so much from franchise to franchise, but I have found a team that I love to use without having to make a bunch of roster moves and that is the Chicago Cubs. I'm playing on All-Star hitting and HOF pitching with pretty much everything turned to off(guess pitch, strike zone, etc).

Cubs @ Angels Game 1 "Opening Day"

Cubs win 14-2

Fell in love with this team right from the start as they came out with a bang! The offense combined for 14 runs on 18 hits including 7 2B and 2 HR! Arrieta went 7.0 giving up 2 R, 1ER, 5 H, 4 K, 0 BB for an easy win. Kyle Schwarber went 3-5 with 3 2B and 3 RBIs. Zobrist and Fowler each homered.

Cubs @ Angels Game 2

Cubs win 6-3

We sweep the 2 game interleague series on the road to kick off the season. Jon Lester goes a strong 6.0 inn giving up 3 R, 3 ER, 5 H, 9 K, 0 BB for the win. Kris Bryant led the offense going 2-4 with a 2B and his first HR of the season. Rondon pitched a scoreless 9th to pick up his first save of the season.

Scooter, have you considered moving Correa to 3rd to make room for Bregman?

Correa to 3rd, while Carlos himself does not want that, has been discussed as an option for more than a year.

Just a thought.

I have thought about it for sure but to try to keep it realistic Im going to try every other option first. Plus he has made some crazy plays at SS for me. Ideally Ill put one of the guys I said before at 3rd DH one and then trade the odd man out.

Bullpen blows it, Adams saves it..Cards 6-4

Cardinal fans were tested with a roller coaster ride as the Cardinals came from behind in the 8th to win the game against the Giants 6-4. With a 3-2 lead going into the 8th, Matheny turned the ball over to the bullpen. Kevin Siegrist is facing Diego Santana who is making his major league debut, and on the 2nd pitch that he sees, Santana belts one to right center tying the game at 3. Siegrist manages to get Span and Panik out on back to back strikeouts. When Posey comes to the plate, Matheny turns the ball to Jordan Walden. Walden proceeds to leave a fastball right down the middle and Buster puts it into the upper deck of left field giving the Giants a 4-3 lead.

But the Cardinals wouldn't go away. In the bottom of the 8th, Matt Carpenter reaches on a throwing error by Panik. Rios manages to strikeout. Holliday, who already extended his hitting streak to 19 games, draws a 4 pitch walk putting two on with 1 out. Grichuk comes to the plate and proceeds to flyout to center. So 2 on with 2 outs, and Peralta is hit by a pitch making it bases loaded with 2 outs. Matt Adams comes to the plate having been hitless on the day. After going down 0-2 in the count, he takes a ball and on the very next pitch, smokes a Sergio Romo slider into the right center gap scoring all three on the bases and giving the Cardinals a 6-4 lead.

Trevor Rosenthal came into the ninth and allowed a hit with one out, but then followed that up by getting Brandon Belt to roll into a 6-4-3 double play to end the ball game.

The Cardinals and Giants face off tomorrow with Michael Wacha facing Jeff Samardzija.

What sliders/difficulty are you playing on? And do you like the results/stats you've been getting? Looking to play 162 like you.

The second series of the season was a 4 game series visiting the Diamondbacks.

Cubs @ Diamondbacks Game 1

Diamondbacks win 6-5.

Lackey went 8.0 inn giving up 5 R, 5 ER, 9 H, 4 K, 0 BB and ended with a no decision as the game was tied In the 9th. Rizzo went 2-4 with his first HR of the season and 2 RBI. Miguel Montero hit a pinch hit RBI double in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 5-5. Justin Grimm came in to pitch in the bottom of the 9th and gave up a walkoff HR to the very first batter he faced, Welington Castillo, handing the Cubs their first loss of the season.

Cubs @ Diamondbacks Game 2

Cubs win 6-5 in 11 inn.

Cubs bounce back and take a close game two to even the series at 1-1. Kyle Hendricks went 6.0 inn giving up 3 R, 2 ER, 10 H, 1 K, 0 BB for the no decision. Dexter Fowler went 2-5 with a 2B and his 2nd HR of the season, driving in 3 runs. Schwarber hit his first HR of the season and in the 11th Jorge Soler his a 426 foot bomb(2nd of season)the opposite way to right center for the go ahead run and game winner. Zobrist got hurt in BP and was scratched before the game for Javier Baez at second base who then proceeded to make 2 errors which led to 2 unearned runs. Zobrist would be back in the lineup for game 3 of the series.

Cubs @ Diamondbacks Game 3

Cubs win 9-3.

Strong outing from Jason Hammel to pick up his first victory. He went 7.0 inn, giving up 2 R, 2 ER, 5 H, 5 K, 1 BB. Dexter Fowler remained red hot going 3-5 with a 2B and his 3rd HR of the season, driving in 3 more runs(10 RBI through 5 games). Addison Russell went 3-5 with 2 more 2B giving him 7 2B already. The Cubs also got HRs from Kyle Schwarber, Anthony Rizzo and rookie Nicholas Cooper(1st career). The team slugged 19 hits with 5 2B and 4 HR total.

Cubs @ Diamondbacks Game 4

Cubs win 4-0.

Jake Arrietta was Jake Arrieta. Untouchable! He gave up one hit in the third that was a cheap ground ball past Kris Bryant who seems to have very poor range on grounders at third base. Other than that he was perfect in his second outing of the year. His line was 9.0 inn, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 13 K, 0 BB for the complete game shutout improving his record to 2-0 on the season. Dexter Fowler went 3-5 with 2 2B and is hitting .483 to start the season. Kris Bryant went 3-4 with a 2B and and 2 RBI, increasing his early season BA to .444. Kyle Schwarber was given the day off vs the lefty starter.

Cubs win the series 3-1 and end the first road trip of the season 5-1. Home opener vs the Reds to start a 6 game set at home.

NLDS Mets @ Marlins


Game 1 - Classic pitching duel. Lucas Sims and Damian Boeve were matching zeroes for most of the game. Both teams combined for five hits through seven innings. Boeve was rolling with the K's, getting 5 in a row at one point. Sims was getting his share, too, and the Marlins bats were just flattened.

Sims finally blinked - he left a fastball up-and-in to Stan Brito, the streaky young slugging 3B of the Marlins. He deposited that fastball 451 feet out to left-center field. The Marlins led 1-0 through eight innings.

Boeve took it from there. Leone was warming, just in case, but Boeve struck out two batters in the 9th to run his total to 14 strikeouts and finish the complete game shut out.


Game 2 - This looked like another pitching duel. Tillman gave up a HR to Logan Morrison right out of the gate, but settled down to retire the next 11 in a row. The Marlins were having fits with Syndergaard, giving the Mets an early 1-0 lead. The Marlins loaded the bases in the 3rd, but could not score.

In the 4th, Bo Winter took a pitch that might have been just low and hit it out to straight away center field for a home run to tie the game at 1-1.

In the 5th, the Marlins again had runners on. Two on for Chris Davis. This time, the Marlins got the big hit as Davis hit a 3-run HR to left field to put the Marlins on top 4-1. Syndergaard would get out of the inning, but that would be the last the Marlins would see of him.

After that, the bats came alive. The Marlins scored 3 more in the 6th as the bottom of the order started things going and Taylor and Yelish cashed in.

The Mets tried to stay in it as they got a 2-run HR off Tillman in the 7th from Wolters. That put the score at 7-3 and chased Tillman from the game. The Marlins answered back as Davis hit his second home run to help lead to a 2-run inning. That made the game 9-3, which would also be the final score.

Marlins did what they needed to do at home, so the pressure will be on the Mets to defend their home field to force the series back to Miami for game 5. Clay Huff will go for the Marlins while Rafael Montero is scheduled for the Mets in this pivotal game.

Well, it's mid September and I can already feel my excitement rising for playoff baseball. When you play all 162 games you really get more involved and the end of the season really feels like an accomplishment. This will be my third straight year with a franchise playing all 162 games. I plan to do year 2 as well hopefully playing all 162.

The Jays fell to the Red Sox 2-1 and failed to get into first in the division for the first time this year. The two losses were late inning collapses. First, Brett Cecil blew a 2 run lead in the 8th. Game 2 saw a 12-2 Jays win. Game 3 the Jays were up 4-1 in the 8th. Youngster Kyle Crockett came in and allowed 2 hits to load the bases and a grand slam by Ortiz (I really hope he retires haha). Crockett now has allowed 2 homers in 2 appearances. Meanwhile, other September call ups Chi Chi Gonzalez, Clinton Hollon, Carlos Contrares, Wesley Wright are all pitching well out of the pen.

Next , the Jays took the first 3 of a 4 game series with the Yankees. The series has seen the emergence of Zach Walters. He is playing SS for the DTD Tulowitzki and is destroying the ball. In 4 games since being called up he is 7/16 with 2 homers, 2 doubles and 6 RBI. He previously started about 3 weeks at 2nd base and the Jays got a glimpse at his power potential. This time around being a September call up he has really found his swing. If the play continues he could force his way on to the playoff roster at Ryan Goins expense. Other September call up got the start behind the dish for game 3 and went 2-3 with a homer and a double in the win.

The Jays got a scare in game 3 as well. They were up 5-1 against the plummeting Yankees with Josh Donaldson at the plate. Chapman went high inside and got Donaldson in the elbow. The hit by pitch floored him. Donaldson has been the best player for Toronto batting .302 with 28 homers and 93 RBI. In the bottom half of the inning Andrew Cashner drilled rookie RF Judge square in the middle of the back for obvious retaliation and the benches cleared. This should set up for an interesting game 4.

Donaldson suffered a badly bruised elbow and will miss a couple of weeks. Due to September call ups he will not be placed on the DL and will just sit out until he feels ready to play again. With 3 weeks left to the season that could have been a lot worse than what it was! Zack Walters will step in as the 3b for the time being due to his hot play with Andy Burns, Jose Fernandez, Ryab Rua, and even Jose Bautista providing depth there.

The team has also learned that Michael Saunders will miss around 50 days with his injury. He was transferred to the 60 day DL and that likely ends his tenure with Toronto. OF Anthony Alford was called up to the big club and added to the 40 man roster. Alford hit AA well and was promoted to AAA mid season where he manned CF and led off for the Bisons. He hit .297 with good power and speed numbers at AAA and the team is excited to get a look at him in the majors. He will likely serve as a pinch runner, defensive replacement and may draw a start or 2 against a weaker starter.

The Jays will have 1 more game against New York before a day off and then back home!

The NL shut out the AL 3-0, only hits for the AL were Correa and Altuve.

I made a trade at the deadline sold a couple of prospects high as they were having very good years in the minors and Brad Peacock for Drew Smyly. Peacock had been very hit or miss all year and didnt get much usage out of the bullpen.

Smyly will be inserted into the rotation with Mike Fiers moving to the bullpen. Smyly only has 1 more arbitration year but that is okay, Fiers had struggled a lot this year and I needed a 5th man in the rotation.

Smyly is 6-3 with a 2.81 ERA and 1.13 WHIP for the season. I likely will not make any more trades.

Bregman will be getting his first AB's in AAA soon. A.J. Reed is getting closer to me being ready to call him up but I still dont think he would be better than White, yet.

Edit: Smyly won his first game in an Astros uniform 6-1 against the Mariners. Smyly lasted 8.1 innings.

This was a big win as we are trying to create separation from the Mariners.

We are currently 56-34 and the Mariners are 50-40. Regardless if they managed to take 1st in the division we would basically have the Wild Card spot locked up unless we just imploded. But winning the division is obviously the goal.

Marlins Finish the Job
Harper Stars as Marlins Sweep

Game 3 once again started with the Marlins bats unable to do much. Montero was hitting all his spots and the Marlins hitters weren't doing anything about it.

Huff was doing as well with his finesse style, though he made the first mistake. He left a curveball up and Rafael Betancourt hit it out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.

That's how the game would stand until the Marlins finally got on the board in the 6th. Harper crushed a 2-run HR to right field to jump the Marlins ahead 2-1. He got another opportunity in the 7th, thanks in part to a couple Mets errors, with the bases loaded. He again delivered, this time with a grand slam.

"Different hero every night. That's the what we believe and tonight it was my turn to deliver and I was able to do so. Stanny [Stan Brito] did it, Big Chris [Chris Davis] did it. Bo [Winter] did it. Now I was able to add on. That's just the way this team plays, " Harper commented after the game.

Those runs by Harper were all the Marlins would get. Literally. All 6 RBI from his bat.

Huff made it stand up with 7 1/3 strong innings. He wore down as he had to use 106 pitches to get to this point despite no walks and just 3 strikeouts. The Mets scraped together a run to make it 6-2, but Leonel Campos would hold the score there and send the Marlins to the NLCS.

They await the winner of the Dodgers and Reds' series.

Cardinals comeback again, beat Giants 3-2

Last nights comeback was so exciting that the Cardinals decided to do it again. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th after two solo homeruns by Buster Posey, the Cardinals got a key bases loaded double by pinch hitter Reuben Tejada to tie the game at two. In the bottom of the 8th with the game tied at 2 still, Holliday singled with 1 out. Tommy Pham came on as a pinch runner. Randal Grichuk followed up the Holliday single with a RBI double to bring in the go ahead, and game winning run. Trevor Rosenthal shut the door in the 9th to preserve the win and earn his league leading 23rd save on the season.

The Cardinals will look for the sweep as Mike Leake will go against Jake Peavy in the series finale tommorow.

No sweep...Giants dominate Cardinals 9-1

The Giants plated 9 runs on 18 hits in a game that was decided very early on, as Mike Leake had nothing for the Giants lineup. Mike Leake ended up going 6 innings allowing 5 runs on 11 hits. Lance Lynn was just as poor pitching the final 3 innings of mop up work allowing 4 runs on 7 hits.

The only two bright spots for the offense were Jeremy Hazelbaker going 2-3 with a single, double and a walk. Matt Holliday extended his hitting streak to 21 games and also drove in the lone run with a sac fly in the 8th breaking up Jake Peavy's shutout bid.

The Cardinals are off tomorrow but will travel to Cincinnati for 3 games. Jaime Garcia will get the ball on Tuesday.

With a commanding 8 game lead in mid-September, the Dodgers made some September call ups to get a look at some players who may be able to help the team next year.

On the pitching end, Alex Wood has looked excellent in spot starts and spot relief appearances and should be ready to be a big-league long man next season. Zach Lee has shown some potential but clearly needs time to develop his secondary pitches. Frankie Montas flashed an electric fastball but has struggled to locate off-speed pitches. He's looking like a potential future setup man or closer on the basis of his fastball.

On the hitting end, both Trayce Thompson and Micah Johnson have struggled at the plate. Both flash plus speed and passable defense, but look like they may need another year in the minors to be ready for full-time major league duty. I've gotten great production out of two young catchers: Austin Barnes and Kyle Farmer. Barnes has great contact for a young catcher but plays iffy defense; he's likely a backup catcher next year or a MILB catcher until his defense is better. Farmer has positional versatility and is hitting above his attributes already. He's looked at home at 2B (his OSFM 2nd position), and has looked okay at C as well.

All in all, it's really exciting to see how some of the young talent looks and to get a taste of how my organization will develop in the coming years.

I have high hopes for Thompson and Johnson, and I'm hoping they can end the September audition hitting .230 or better.

Is there anyway to edit contracts in Franchise mode? I'm a few years in and Carlos Correa has dropped 2 points bc he's not happy with his contract. He still has 2 or 3 years left so he's going to be unhappy until the contract is up which sucks, but if I can edit it I will bump his salary up a little.
