How many games per season does this wind up being, roughly? Interesting method. I like the idea of playing more games against division rivals. I'm currently playing 1 game each series, but I'm intrigued by your system.

Only just found this way of playing. But into the start of May I've played probably around 12 or 15 games or so. Had home games against the Angels, Marriners and Rangers plus a few 4 games series. Also a few tie breakers. I'm liking it so far as the season progresses nicely but you also you play enough games that you feel you are influencing the season also

About to get 2018 started with the Twins. I have simmed the large amount of the first two seasons as the team just didn't have a serious chance to compete for the division. The first season we finished with 72 and in the second season we upped the bar...to 73.

The big story for me is the #15 pick from the first draft (SP William Connors). I drafted him blind and he was 75 OVR with 88 POT. As an 18 year old in AA he dominated with an ERA around 1.20 over the first half of the season. I had to move him up to AAA the second half and he continued to dominate. He had an ERA of 2.00 and was healthy all year. His K/9 was 10+ and his rating went from 75 -> 84...yep that's right.

Well he's now 19 and I have to put him in the rotation. He's hands down the top rated pitcher on my roster. I guess I'll chalk him up to being a phenom...because coming in at 19 is just ridiculous. However I might just keep him in AAA for a month or two to make sure he continues to dominate. Then give him the call up...I don't know...

Right now here's my rotation/lineup off the top of my head:

3B Javier Baez (Sent Phil Hughes to CHC for the struggling Baez, career sub .200 hitter but we're giving him a shot)
SS Eduardo Escobar
LF Eddie Rosario
CF Byron Buxton
RF Miguel Sano
DH Adam Walker

SS Jorge Polanco, C John Ryan Murphy, IF/OF Danny Santana are the key bench guys.

The lineup has progressed pretty well. Dozier is a legit All-Star contender and Sano is a 40 HR guy possibly.

The rotation is alright. Holland posted a great 2017 season with an AL Best 2.51 ERA. Berrios improved but he's not rated that well yet. Santana is old and regressing quickly. Connors is the wild card. If he pitches like he did in his first pro season it'll be amazing.

Need my rotation to be healthy and me pen to do well. Closer Glen Perkins retired so J.R. Graham takes over the closer role. The bullpen is a definite area of concern.

Anyways I'm excited to get things underway tonight!

Oh man what a fun month and a half that was. We are now 14 games above .500 after going 28-17 to bring us to 74-60 on the season. We 2, 6 game win streaks and sweeps over Tampa Bay, Detroit, Miami and Boston. Unfortunately every run we went on Cleveland went on one just as good. 3 games behind them for the division lead but we have a 5 game lead in the Wild Card.

Offense has improved quite a bit. We have scored 183 runs over the last 45 games. Good for 4 runs per game. Biggest improvement seems to be coming from doubles and triples. We have hit 98 doubles and 12 triples in the last 45 games compared to 132 and 17 in the 89 games prior.

Jarrod Dyson has come on very strong as of late. Currently hitting .263/.327/.417. In his last 10 starts he is hitting .386/.425/.477 with 7 SB. In in his last 15 starts he is hitting .375/.411/.500. Gonna be getting a lot moreplay time as long as he keeps that up. Primarily been splitting time with Fuentes who has also been doing pretty well. He has his line up to .261/.332/.352. Hosmer and Morales have already surpassed their 2015 HR totals at 22 and 23 respectively. For Hosmer thats a new career high.

The best part about this last month+ has to be the pitching. Started with the 8 man rotation to see who the main guys we wanted to go with. that got kicked down to 7 men after the first week or so moving Chris Young to the pen. And we stuck with 7 for about 3 weeks before we kicked Volquez to the pen. And then ran with 6 for the last week or so. That may be 5 now with moving Medlen to the pen. Havent decided for sure on that though. So it could still be 6.

Some stats from the starters during this stretch. Volquez had a 3.62 ERA in 37.1 IP (8 games, 6 Starts). Danny Duffy with a 3.25 ERA in 36 IP (7 games, 6 starts). Mike Minor with a 3.12 ERA in 43.1 IP (7 starts). Dillon Gee with a 3.09 ERA in 35 IP (7 games, 6 starts). Ian Kennedy with a 3.05 ERA in 44.1 IP (10 games 6 Starts). Chris young has been terrible with a 6.27 ERA in 18.2 IP (14 games, 1 Start). Medlen had a 5.26 ERA in 37.2 IP (7 games, 6 starts). Why im on the fence with him idk. But Yordano Ventura. My god has he been amazing. 1.95 ERA in 50.2 IP (10 games, 7 Starts). In 5 of his 7 starts he has given up 1 run or less. Gone 7+ innings 4 time and threw a CGSO. Has an 8.17 K/9, 2.6 BB/9 and a 3.07 K/BB Ration. You take away his worst start those stats drop to a 1.13 ERA in 47.66 IP. 8.11 K/9, 2.07 BB/9 and a 3.91 K/BB ratio. He is finally looking like the pitcher everyone hoped he could be. And it couldn't have happened at a better time.

Ill have prospect updates once their seasons end. September baseball wont get much better than this.

Chalk him because that's what he is. Already in the 80's in overall grade and got the performance to back it up.

Call him up and make him 5th starter or maybe LR and give him a lot of innings in relief to get a look at him. Then move into the rotation if he does decent?

Either way, congrats on him living up to the billing so far! Take the phenom and enjoy the ride. Phenoms ARE realistic after all. They do happen.

After starting off 5-23, my Braves now sit at 13-27 with a 4 game winning streak mixed in at one point. Our bats have begun to wake up a little bit after being abysmal for the first 28 games. I brought up Mallex Smith before the real life Braves actually did and he has taken over my LF position moving Drew Stubbs to the bench. However, Stubbs had a great road trip as a DH against KC in a 4 game set. Unfortunately, he ended up getting injured and breaking his finger sliding into second head first and is out for 2-3 months. My pitching staff is soooo inconsistant outside of Julio Teheran. Ive sent a couple of pitchers down and brought a couple up trying to find the right mix. My closer Arodys Vizcaino has been terrible including blowing his last 3 save attempts...last one being last game where he gave up a 3 run walk off homerun to Andrew McCutcheon. That prompted me to put Jim Johnson (one of my setup men) in the closing roll and see how he does. All in all im feel7ng better about our play as of late. Its a long season and i know we cant get it all back at once. The goal right now is to take every series and chip away. Still in last place 11 games out.

That's a great story line. It's cool to see what is probably a generational player come through your system. And with the way regression can take players down so fast, it's nice to see that the reverse is possible.

I'd keep a notebook on this kid's career stats if he came up through my organization!

Man, Boeve looks like a mouse compared to this kid. My guy took the usual years to get there. This kid might be an ace by September. Wow.

Quick little update on some prospect now that their season is pretty much over (AA is in the playoffs)

Kyle Zimmer finishes the minor league year 11-6 with a 3.04 ERA in 171.1 IP between AA and AAA. He had a 1.33 WHIP and a 10.1 K/9. He will be called up to join the big league team now.

Jose Martinez hit .350/.425/.570 in 377 at bats between AA and AAA (only 3 in AA). He had 17 HR with 66 RBI and 10 SB. We called him up a few days before the end of the season. Got a hit in his first career at bat at the age of 27.

Ryan O'Hearn hit .272/.361/.477 in 430 at bats between AA and AAA. He lead all of our minor leaguers with 25 HR to go along with 72 RBI and surprisingly 14 stolen bases.

Eric Skoglund was 6-7 with a 2.51 ERA in 107.1 IP between AA and AAA.

Kevin McCarthy was 9-1 with a 2.27 ERA in 87 IP between AA and AAA.

Andy Ferguson was 5-0 with a 1.26 ERA in 50 innings in AA. Didnt fair as well in AAA going 2-5 with a 4.89 ERA in 73.2 IP.

Matt Murray was 1-2 with a 2.35 ERA between AA and AAA.

Ramon Torres hit .308/.382/.405 in AA.

Mondesi got hurt again not to long after coming back from his first injury. He finished the year at .280/.357/.433 in 44.

Balbino Fuenmayor hit .285/.345/.482 with 17 HR and 57 RBI in AAA

And last a young guy that really surprised. 18 year old Marten Gasparini hit .280/.351/.418 with 5 HR and 10 SB in AA replacing Mondesi.

What a disaster of a season for the Texas Rangers. Sitting 60-68 at the end of August 17 1/2 games out of first and in last place. Ptching staff is beyond embarrasing.

Hamels 9-9 3.5 era not bad
Darvish- 4-10 4.00 era Disgusting never pitches well in the show for any version since MLB the Show 10
Perez 8-9 4 era
Holland 9-9 5.65 era
Lewis 9-8 6 era

Bullpen Tolleson 10 blown saves.

I love thegame but its like this every season of every year I play. Its not my stick play because I play MOM so stats only are going into these games. I use Nomo's sliders. I play a MOM and then start a MOM game and sim to the end for the next 3. I adjust my bullpens so guys are not overused and I call guys up if I get notfications and send guys down that are struggling. Nothing works, I have never, ever fiished a season over 500.

Maybe its MOM anyone else seeing this. Guys have done great job implementing things into this mode, However pitching is terrible, no way every season my team should be dead last in era, This isevery season of every vesion of the Show

Anyone know how gold glove is determined at least for pitcher? I have Dallas Keuchel with comparable stats to the guy in first place yet he isnt even in the top 3 (When I say comparable I mean within 1-2). His stats are easily better then the other 2.

Well I closed down the season with a BANG. Also Lance McCullers is now I think my favorite pitcher in the game. In a 7-0 game he allowed 1 hit ONE. Got a phone call and I threw a dumb pitch in a rush so I could get the phone and that was the hit in the 7th inning. Made it through the rest of the game perfect but I will get it eventually. At least I held Trout without a hit.

LMC racked up 10 K's in the game and I let him go the distance even though it was the last game of the season and I want him fresh for the playoffs. Now for the end of season wrap up.


The Houston Astros have the BEST season in franchise history racking up 104 wins with a 104-58 record. Also the best record in the league.

Coming up to the trade deadline in my franchise with the Astros and we sit in first place by 7 games. Only problem I'm having is injuries. I've lost McHugh and Devenski for the season, Fister has stuggled so I'm only set with Keuchel, Fiers and McCullers. I don't know if I should go out and get a back end of the rotation starter or an ace.

I don't think I would give up what it would cost to get an Ace. I would get a back end of the rotation player myself. I would look for someone older, with an expiring contract who is having a decent season and roll with them. That way, you're not giving up much.

That's what I was leaning more towards anyone that can bring some velocity would be much needed.
