I have probably just done something monumentally stupid, but after playing the first 50 games with the Atlanta Braves I've decided to ditch that save and start again with the Rays. I just have no feelings at all towards the Braves or any of their players, the only players on my team that I like are players I've traded for. It just seemed like if I was going to commit the amount of time it would take to carry on I may as well go with a team I actually like. A lot of hours wasted or a lot of hours saved? Time will tell.

I've always been fond of the Rays as they were always terrible but with some exciting kids when I was growing up, so they are much more interesting to me, the only wrinkle being my dislike of the American League, but I've turned off the DH rule so that's that fixed. It looks like we have all the tools in place for a full rebuild, so wish me luck on my stupid adventure

Good luck on the fresh start. I have often times thought about restarting my franchise and using another team instead of my beloved Indians. Sometimes I feel I make bad decisions and over expectate because I am to attached to the players. Which is bad as a GM/Manager lol.

Cheers, I should never have picked the Braves, I don't like them at all, I just wanted a challenge and they are the worst team in baseball by a mile, but with the latest OSFM rosters it's not even particularly challenging to rebuild them as they have so much young talent.

I would use the Mets, who I support, but they are just a bit too good to start with, it wouldn't need me to do much, especially with that rotation. The Rays have always been my preferred AL team and they look like a proper challenge, so hopefully I'll enjoy that more. I'm already falling into the trap you have though as I'm refusing to trade Longoria, despite him being on a terrible contract that will surely cripple me moving forwards, but I've always liked him, so he's untradeable!

In May of my Braves dynasty, I traded for Trayce Thompson as part of the rebuild. I'm a couple of weeks away from the deadline and, having won six straight and eight of nine, I'm back on the fringes of playoff contention (at 44-48).

In light of recent real-life events, I'm tempted to try to flip Thompson for Matt Kemp and make a playoff push.

I'm 117 games into my season having played every pitch of every game to date. I'm basically counting down the games until the playoffs as thanks to my 86-31 record I've pretty much run away with the division as I currently hold a 20.0 game lead over Colorado in second and 22.5 over San Francisco in third. I haven't made many trades, acquired Matt Shoemaker from LAA, Derek Norris and James Loney from San Diego and Danny Valencia from Oakland. Ive had some injuries, Carl Crawford cant stay healthy, Alex Wood is out for the season and has been for awhile, Justin Turner and Yasiel Puig are both sitting on the DL and both were set to miss 1-2 months when they were injured and then lesser injuries to a couple other starters at various times of the season. I called up Charlie Culberson mainly to provide better contact vs LHP as my lineup can be extremey LHB heavy and he's been unbelievable. His rating of 78 is going up, his B potential is set to go up, his contact has risen by +5 and +7 respectively and he's pretty much made Justin Turner an after thought. The biggest surprise is free swinging, strikeout prone Joc Pederson isnt just hitting the long ball but is actually hitting for average which is a positive as Id love to build the team around him, Seager and Culberson long term on offense with Kershaw as the obvious cornerstone of the staff.

The Marlins maintain their commanding lead despite hitting a 2-5 stretch leading up to the Break. Their lead stands at 16 games over the Phillies at a 65-25 record. Perhaps that stretch before the Break was just a blip on the radar...or a sign of mean reversion. Only time will tell. The Marlins have gone on second half swoons in the past.

Damian Boeve recently vouched for Luis Heredia's ability to be his partner atop the rotation.

"Man, Luis and I, we're like two dragons at the top of this staff, burning down every hitter, " Boeve commented during a media event at the All-Star Break, "You know what? I'm calling us 'Double Dragon'."

The "Double Dragon" combo is 25-6 and both have very low ERA's, with Boeve's potentially being the 5th consecutive year he's lowered his season ERA. His rookie ERA is the highest in his career...at 2.76. Since then? 2.33, 1.98, 1.82, 1.76 and now 1.72.

There are rumblings around the Marlins HQ about Chris Taylor and once again his batting just not coming up to what is expected of him. Of course, the Marlins probably should be used to it. He's a career .276 hitter, but the squad may have thought his 2019 and 2020 seasons, where he looked like a .300 hitter, would continue. That said, batting in the .250-ish range is not going to help.

Some have mentioned perhaps trying to shop him to contenders who need infield help. Jose Campos could become the starter again and recently acquired Martin Ybarra could then become the utility man on the bench.

Clay Huff haters around Miami are probably miserable because he continues to show why he's beloved by Mattingly and the front office. His personality can be...quirky...at times but the junk his arm throws is nasty when he's healthy and focused.

Robinson Mota is impressing in his time at the majors. He was shifted to long relief when Huff returned from the DL and continued to pitch well. Moses Bartlett and Andres Ordonez might be in jeopardy of losing their rotation slots. Bartlett in particular is having a harder than usual time with his knuckler. He throws it old-school, which means slow, arcing, and dancing, and perhaps it's getting too slow, sometimes barely hitting 60 MPH. His ERA is a career worse 4.20, and that's after a couple good outings.

The RF battle between Josh Hart and Arturo Gonzalez is going poorly. Hart was batting .380 and that collapsed to .270 and sinking fast while .270 is about as high as Gonzalez can get. Next man up? Perhaps Freddie Santiago, a seemingly blocked draftee from a few years back. RF is also one of the six positions Campos can play, which might save Taylor's hide at SS.

Javier Baez might be winning some friends in the front office. After a very slow start, he's picked up. The home runs aren't very high, just 11, but he's raked in the doubles and triples and that's helped his slugging to get over .500.

Tyler Kolek's transition to reliever is going pretty well. His ERA is 2.50 at New Orleans, hinting that he might be one his way up to the big leagues at least...just as a reliever...and perhaps closer despite rookie Kevin Jaeger's success at the role. Kolek's 101 MPH fastball as a closer might be too "Chapman-esque" to pass up.

Player Development:

The "second dragon", i.e. Luis Heredia, is gaining endorsement from scouts as well. "He's really improving his mentality up there, learning how to pitch and work hitters over, " one scout spoke. Heredia's biggest improvement has been in contact management. He's starting to grasp the power if his two-seamer/slider combo especially.

Chris Davis might not be ageless after all. While he's still got high-end power, it might not be "80" anymore. Scouts are thinking that his production will start to fade, and the fade might come rapidly. The Marlins, though, might be slow to work someone else in at 1B, especially since Davis is still hitting pretty well, especially for a 35-year-old, and probably has another year of solid production left.

Stan Brito. The name still causes debate to rage. His average has slid back to .230's, but scouts continue to preach patience. "He's finally starting to master hitting against RHP. His breakout is a matter of time now, " Marlins head scout commented. Brito better come around...or the kid could get some people fired.

Meanwhile, he continues to assassinate southpaws. No lefty pitcher should be left within 60 feet, 6 inches of the guy.

Loren Rasmussen, a starting pitcher that has drawn comparison to Jaime Moyer, is making progress. He's recently been elevated to AAA New Orleans. His first few starts there haven't been good, but scouts aren't worried. Yet.

"You always wonder about a guy who throws 82-84...tops. I think AAA might be the test for him, both in terms of stuff and mentality. So far, he's continued to work hard and do his best. I think he'll be given every chance. I mean, if they like [Clay] Huff, they'll LOVE this guy, " one analyst commented.

Then there's the exact opposite of Rasmussen...Jared Richard. He, too, is having his struggles in New Orleans. Scouts are optimistic on him, but are more concerned about his horrible go of it. Jared's posted a 6.70 ERA and the walks are doing him in. That's scarily similar to what happened to Tyler Kolek early on...

After looking at a few options i have decided to take over as GM of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Over the last 5 years they are 399-412. Made the Wild Card game in 2020 but lost to the Cubs 6-0. It was their first postseason appearance since winning the NL West in 2011. They followed that up with a very disappointing 2021 going 68-94 tied with the Phillies for the worst record in the Majors.

Jose Fernandez is far and away the best player on the team. 29 and under contract for the next 4 years. He has put up a 2.95 ERA in his 3 years with the team. A lot of AVG talent other than him. Jose Iglesias is the next highest paid player. Just had his worst season ever at the plate hitting .235/.298/.328. Still good in the field though. David Peralta is 34 and on the back end of his career. But still producing very well. He hit .282/.341/.485 with a career high 28 HR last season. Jake Lamb at 31 had his best season hittign .289/.384/.497 with 22 HR. Jake Barrett leads a very bad bull pen. He put up a 3.29 ERA in 63 IP with 37 saves. As for prospects there isnt a whole lot of help their either. Our best prospect is probably SP Orlando Alonzo. And he is already 27. Following him is 26 year old IF Jamie Westbrook and 20 year old SP Michael Suzuki who is a long way away. Wont be easy to win that for sure. But it should be fun getting to a point where we can.

Cubs and Marlins Strike Deal
Taylor and Carlyle to Become Starting Duo

The Cubs, in the midst of what's essentially a 3-way tie for the NL Central, decided to go get themselves a new starting middle infield.

The Cubs acquire SS Chris Taylor and young 2B Les Carlyle in return for a trio of prospects, SS Mark Morrow, RF Fred Rodriguez, and CP Carlos Guerra.

Taylor and Carlyle become instant starters at their positions. Carlyle's downfall with the Marlins was the lack of developing a shortstop's arm. That left him at 2B and with Baez arriving, he got blocked. He should be a solid hitter for the position, capable of hitting for a high average and being generally annoying at the plate.

Of the prospects, Mark Morrow has the best projection. Marrow's main concern is the same as Carlyle's was, can he develop the arm to stay at SS. Carlyle was eventually moved. Morrow will try to stick.

Rodriguez is another contact type of hitter with perhaps consistent gap power, but his defense is rather raw, so that's his issue, especially since he only has average speed.

Guerra was an interesting pick up, given the team has Kevin Yaeger, but perhaps the Marlins are looking at moving Guerra somewhere in the bullpen in the near future. There are a few aging relievers (33-year-old rookie Boone Hall and mid-30's veterans Ken DiMaggio and Everett Hessman), so Guerra might be earmarked for one of those slots.

Replacing Taylor for now will be Martin Ybarra. The team's most develop young SS, Patrick Brandt, is out for the season. Campos? He will head to RF as Arturo Gonzalez was optioned to AAA to make room on the roster. Ybarra and Kirk Jefferies will split time at SS.

Pirates Land SP Manaea from Royals

The Marlins may have the self-styled "Double Dragon" thing going on, but the Pirates might have the best on-paper rotation in the NL. That rotation just got stronger as Sean Manaea joins the mix. Manaea grades out as a borderline ace pitcher...and he will be third starter. He and his 2.96 ERA.

The Pirates are in 4th place, but just 7 games out of the division trio of leaders. The next problem the Pirates need to address is their offense, namely the OBP portion of their offense. They are hitting .220 as a team with a paltry .278 OBP.

Finished the season winning the Central division over the rival Cubs by 1 game. We struggled big time at the end of the season, but hung on to win. Other division winners:

AL East - Rays
AL Central - Indians
AL West - Astros

AL Wildcard - Blue Jays
AL Wildcard - Angels

NL East - Mets
NL Central - Cardinals
NL West - Dodgers

NL Wildcard - Cubs
NL Wildcard - Nationals

I take on the Mets in the NLDS.

In the midst of an 8 game winning streak that has been very interesting. The Houston Astros have arrived early.

I just played an insane game coming in on a 7 game wins streak I had to spot start Feldman due to Feliz still being tired. Feldman had a ERA over 6 coming In. He actually had a solid game going 5 innings and givig up 3. Bullpen collapsed a bit and the Angels had an 8-2 lead going into the bottom of the 8th.

We rally to make it 8-6 and Harris gets us to the bottom of the 9th. Rookie Alex Bregman comes in to pinch hit he gets on with a line drive right back up the middle.

Marwin Gonzalez who has struggled works out a walk springer strikes out then Altuve either gets a walk or a hit I want to say a hit though.

So Carlos Correa comes up to bat bases loaded 1 out down by 2. He is the team leader in RBIs and second in home runs.

The 3-2 to Correa is driven to right the right fielder attempts to make a play on it but fails and it's a walkoff grand slam final score is 10-8 and the streak grows to 8 games now.

I have had multiple walk off hits and walks (:/) and have never seen or had one this amazing. I literally jumped out of my seat and was screaming.

I should have an update within the next few days as well as I am entering the final week of June

Won Game 1 of the NLDS against the Mets behind a stellar performance of Adam Wainwright. Wainwright went 8 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday were the catalyst of the offense each going 3 for 4. Carpenter had a double and homerun with 3 RBI. Holliday had 2 homeruns and 5 RBI.

Next up is Game 2 and we have CY Young runner up Michael Wacha on the mound.

So I need a bit of advice from my fellow franchise players. I am at the end of June in my franchise but I am considering scrapping it. I just feel like I win too many games. Its not that they are too easy I have plenty of close game plenty of blowouts (For me and against me) but my record is just unbelievable. It is currently 50-24. Granted i am on a 9 game winning streak and for the most part all of the games in this streak have been very close. Prior to June in the game I was 33-20, which while a good record was at least realistic but I just haven't lost many games (Obviously) in June. Granted I have only played 1 team that is over .500 all month.

My player stats are all pretty realistic. I have 2 guys hitting over .300 Altuve and Correa, everyone else is near their real life numbers (Other than rookies). Pitching at times is too easy but then I will have a game where my starter gives up 8 runs in 2 innings so I hesitate to change that. So I guess where I am going with this, in your guys opinion should I keep playing every game as I am now and just go with it or play 1 and sim 5.

I enjoy playing every game but at the same time I enjoy having a realistic franchise as well. Thanks in advance.

Personally I would keep playing every game and then look at the possibility of upping the difficulty level for either hitting, pitching, or both.

Also, there is no guarantee that the 2nd half of the season goes as well as the first. You could fall flat, start losing games, etc.... That is what happened in my franchise. I was up by 7 games on the Cubs at the All-Star break, and ended up only winning the division by 1 game because we struggled mightily in the 2nd half of the season.

Keep playing it and if you finish with an amazing record, well then you finish with an amazing record.

Sounds like my fantasy Red Sox season this year. Up by nearly the same margin, go 10-17 in August after a medicore finish to July, now in a dogfight in late September for the division (and maybe the playoffs, depending on what other clubs do if I fall to the Wild Card race).

The baseball season is a grind for sure.

My bad if you've already addressed your difficulty level and I missed it, but have you considered using dynamic difficulty?
