    MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

After winning the 2018 WS, the first month of 2019 did not start as well as the fans had hoped. The Athletics finished the month of April with a record of 11-10.

    2B Dominic Costa
    .321/ 5hr/ 11rbi
After a breakout 2018 (.296/39/93), Costa continues to dominate out of the leadoff spot and looks to be a superstar for years to come.

    CF Wil Myers
    .262/ 4hr/ 13rbi
Wil looks to continue what he did in 2018 (.299/30/80) and his off-ish year in 2017 seems to have been just that.

    RF Bryce Harper
    .256/ 4hr/ 14rbi
Oakland's prized offseason signing has started slow and is looking to find his footing in the Junior Circuit.

    1B Freddie Freeman
    .290/ 2hr/ 6rbi
After finishing last season with 61XBH's, Freeman finished April with 8. Though the average is up the A's are counting on his ability to drive runs in and get himself into scoring position to increase as the season moves along.

    LF Matt Olson
    .269/ 6hr/ 9rbi
After a feast or famine season, a .223 avg with 27hrs, the A's are pretty happy to see their 6'5" 230lb left fielder increase his average by 43 points through the first month.

    C Kyle Schwarber
    .200/ 4hr/ 8rbi
Kyle continues to platoon with right handed hitter Andrew Susac. Together the catching tandem has provided Oakland with a .235/ 5hr/ 12rbi line

    DH Gil Cardenas
    .194/ 0hr/ 3rbi
Cardenas has really struggled though the month and the coaches are start to wonder if the 21yo needs to head to Nashville to help him get his confidence back.

    3B Matt Chapman
    .228/ 3hr/ 8rbi
The rookie third baseman is still trying to find his way at the plate, but it's his work with the glove that really has coaches impressed.

    SS Addison Russell
    .258/ 3hr/ 9rbi
Russell is looking to bounce back from an injury plagued season that saw him play in only 88 games.

    SP Sonny Gray
    1-3, 4.26era, 1.34whip
After winning the CY Young last season, Sonny is having a little bit of a struggle to start 2019. Fans are hoping that it's not a repeat of 2016-2017, where Gray won the CY and then limped to a 13-12 record with a 3.69 era the following year.

    SP Jesse Hahn
    3-0, 2.43era, 1.15whip
Jesse started strong and looks to add to his streak 4 consecutive seasons of at least 12 wins.

    SP Kyle Finnegan
    2-0, 2.63era, 1.10whip
The RH fireballer looks to build off last season where he averaged 8.20 K/9, he currently averages 9.22 K/9 through 4 starts.

    SP Michael Santos
    2-2, 6.56era, 1.54whip
All was going well for Santos until his final two starts in April, where he was roughed up for 13 runs in 11 innings. Management is really hoping this isn't becoming a trend.

    SP Dillon Overton
    1-2, 3.71era, 1.39whip
Lack of run support during his starts has made Overton's season look worse than it is. Outside of a 14 run outburst, Overton is getting an average of 2 runs of support per game.

    CP Akeel Morris
    5SV, 0BS, 5.68era
Odd stat line aside, Morris is getting it done when needed, though at the expense of giving his manager a few grey hairs.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

      Go for it, Boeve.
      1-Hitter, 2-Hitter, Perfect Game

At first it looked like the story of this game would be Bo Winter. The "best outfielder in the game" destroyed a pitch from Yordano Ventura 480 feet to spark a 7-run attack (on just 4 hits).

I mean, Boeve with a 7-run lead is pretty much...GG. Then the Marlins made it 9-0. Yeah.

Winter admires his grand slam, which was also his
NL-leading 17th HR on the season.

But Boeve just kept mowing down guys like it was a 1-0 game. At one point he struck out 7 in a row. He then struck out 10 out of the first 12 batters, using mostly a fastball-slider combination (including his cutter).

"The splitter didn't show up today, but we didn't need it. He showed it, got a few swings and such, but when he has that slider - it's fastball and slider time. That's usually when he's able to do stuff like this, " Cruz commented.

What might be even more impressive is the pitch count. He struck out 18 batters...finished a perfect game...and it took just over 100 pitches. That's brutal efficiency.

Boeve mobbed by his teammates as they celebrate the perfect game.

"I hope he doesn't get depressed...you can't do better than a perfect game, " Cruz joked.

The outing lowered Boeve's ERA to 0.88. He also broke the 100 Ks mark with the performance.
"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18

Going to start a random Twins Franchise. Will follow the Cubs method. Go heavy on college bats, pitching in free agency. Will take at least 3 years to turn this team around, hopefully ownership is patient with me.

          Chicago Cubs Franchise

          2016 NLCS

The Chicago Cubs drew the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NLCS and it would be a hard fought series that went all the way.

Game 1: It was the pitching duel that everyone expected in game 1 as Jon Lester took on Clayton Kershaw. Both pitchers only gave up 1 run before turning it over to the bullpen, Lester going 7 strong and Kershaw going 6. The difference in this game wound up being a Kike Hernandez solo shot to left field as the Dodgers won this game 2 to 1.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

Game 2: The Cubs' bats did absolutely nothing in this game as Scott Kazmir stymied them. Only 1 hit was given up in 8 innings for Kazmir and the Dodgers, behind two Adrian Gonzalez solo home runs, won this game 4 to 0.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

Game 3: A must win game for the Cubs going to LA and they came through. The big blow came from young Willson Contreras as he hit a 3 run home run that would ultimately pull the Cubs away from the Dodgers. The youngsters Contreras and Javier Baez were the stars in this game offensively and they provided a big spark to bring the Cubs a victory in a 7 to 2 final.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

Game 4: The Cubs got a dominant pitching performance from Jake Arrieta and a late 2 run home run from Jason Heyward off the bench against Kenley Jansen would prove useful as the Cubs were able to scratch out a 4 to 0 victory in game 4, thus evening the series at 2 apiece.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

Game 5: The Cubs were on a mission to sweep the 3 games in LA with Jon Lester on the mound in a rematch against Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw was very good early as the Dodgers were able to spot him an early 4 to 1 lead. However, the Cubs battled back, tying the game on a Willson Contreras 2 run homer. Anthony Rizzo gave the Cubs the lead in the top of the 8th on a solo shot to center off Chris Hatcher. Hector Rondon gave up a pair of base runners however and that brought in Aroldis Chapman to attempt the 4 out save. Corey Seager, who had been silent for much of this series, got a 2 out, 2 run double to give the Dodgers the lead and the victory at 6 to 5. The Dodgers go back to Wrigley with a 3 to 2 lead.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

Game 6: The series shifted back to Wrigley and the home crowd gave the Cubs a huge boost. Kyle Hendricks pitched 6 strong innings and the Cubs blew away the Dodgers as they got to Kenta Maeda early thanks to 3 home runs, winning 9 to 1, forcing a game 7.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

Game 7: The big game 7 to decide who would go to the World Series was a matchup between two veterans; Scott Kazmir for the Dodgers and John Lackey for the Cubs. Lackey has a lot of experience in clinchers (he's won a game 7 in the World Series as well) and that proved to be useful. The Cubs jumped out to an early lead thanks to contributions from Addison Russell and Dexter Fowler as well as an error by Kike Hernandez that led to two runs. The Cubs' pitching held up, only allowing 3 hits to the Dodgers and the Cubs were able to advance on to the World Series for the first time since 1945, winning 4 to 1.
          Box Score:
          Spoiler

So, that brings us to the World Series. The Toronto Blue Jays ousted the Houston Astros in 6 games and will be the Cubs' opponents for the series. Here are the pitching probables for the first 3 games.

Game 1: Marcus Stroman (1-1, 3.98 ERA) vs Jake Arrieta (1-0, 1.47 ERA)
Game 2: Marco Estrada (1-1, 4.05 ERA) vs Jon Lester (0-0, 4.20 ERA)
Game 3: Kyle Hendricks (1-1, 3.18 ERA) vs Aaron Sanchez (2-0, 1.13 ERA)
          MLB - Chicago Cubs
          NCAAF - Nebraska Cornhuskers
          NCAAB - Nebraska Cornhuskers

            Marlins May/Draft Report
Marlins Go On 14-2 Run to End May

It's one thing that Boeve keeps lowering his microscopic ERA (now down to 0.75 after giving up 2 unearned runs with 0 earned in 6 innings). It's another when the whole staff is rolling along.

That's what the Marlins are getting right now. Clay Huff leading "the others" with a 1.59 ERA as he quietly silences critics with his junkball style. Even Robinson Mota is starting to get back in the good graces with his recent play.

The bullpen is settling down as well. Tyler Kolek is starting to harness that big fastball in relief and someone finally got a run off Curtis Anders, raising his ERA to 0.39 on the season, ending a streak of 22 scoreless innings. Still, even when a team manages to duel someone like Boeve to a tie, Anders comes in and shuts the door right there, giving the Marlins a chance to win (which they did, 3-2).

The offense? It's pretty much hit the skids. And the team still won 14 of 16. Even Bo Winter is looking completely average (if that), dropping his average from .340 to .299 and with just one home run in the last two weeks. Encouraging, however, is Stan Brito hitting in the .280's, which would be a career high. Like for most of the team, the home runs have not been there, which is indeed causing some concern.

The Marlins have pushed the lead out to double digits as draft arrives.

            Draft Report

The Marlins had the last pick in each round, with the first round being 27 picks and 5 compensation round picks (which the Marlins had none).

1st round - OF Prince Jimenez, 21, Florida
Prince is a very fast player with a first step/instincts that's close to being plus, making for an overall high amount of range in the near future. Defense shouldn't be the issue. What is of far more doubt is the level of development his offense will attain. He's not very raw for his age, but he's not as far along as one might hope. Power potential might be there and he might evolve into a power, speed, and defense player. He could be very close to All-Star level, or be a streaky slugger with good speed, baserunning, and range.
Current Ability: C-, Projected Upside: A-, Risk: Above average

2nd round - RHP David Rodriguez, 19, Wisconsin
David's current skills seem advanced for a 19-year-old. He's showing signs of being able to work both sides of the plate and doesn't back down from hitters. He'd rather issue the free pass than lay a cookie in the zone. This may make his projected control look worse due to higher walk rates. The concern I have as a scout is that he only has three pitches and two of them are different kinds of fastballs (4-seam, sinker). His breaking ball is a curve with inconsistent movement. I think his pitch quality and lack of options will be what hinder him.
Current Ability: D+, Projected Upside: B, Risk: High

3rd round - SS David Choo, 22, South Korea
I think we reached for Choo since we are a bit starved for infield depth in the farm. Choo has the promise of potential that a lot of international players have, and his speed is above average. However, I think he'll have a hard time sticking at SS, and even if he does, he might not be more than adequate. At the plate, he's hard to project. Reports say he has a good fundamental basis, just needs experience and competition. We'll see.
Current Ability: D-, Projected Upside: B, Risk: Very High

4th round - RHP Frank Clemente, 20, West Virginia
This is more like it. A very projectable young college pitcher that's right where you expect at his age. He throws five pitches, two of which are types of fastballs (4-seam, 2-seam), has a change, a curve, and a slider. Movement isn't jaw-dropping but it gets the job done. Velocity figures to be low 90's, again nothing fancy but good enough to not be a flag. Pitch ability is there. Works the count, works the zone and out of the zone, mixes pitches well. Biggest issue might be that he get rattled a bit. That could limit him to #3 or #4, but that's still a solid big leaguer. Fun fact - Frank is a switch hitter.
Current Ability: D+, Projected Upside: B+, Risk: Below Average

5th round - RHP Saul Ramirez, 21, Wisconsin
Saul relies too much on strikeouts. There. I said it. It's not often that wanting the strikeout is a downside, but Saul just tries too hard. He overuses trying to get hitters to chase, while at other times he's just trying to throw three pitches past guys, ignoring location or changing speeds. If he can fix this, he'll not only get more strikeouts, he'll be a better pitcher all around. That's the big question.
Current Ability: D-, Projected Upside: B+, Risk: Very High

6th round - RHP Robert Hashimoto, 18, Japan
Robert is a true "grab bag" pick. We didn't know much about him, but figured an 18-year-old reliever was worth a shot with our last pick of the draft. As it turns out, he's not game-breaking, but he could turn into a useful reliever. Like a lot of Japanese import pitchers, he uses finesse to get hitters out. Robert could turn into a miniature version of Curtis Anders, a pitcher who can breeze through outings because he induces bad contact. I think the front office would be happy with that outcome for the 185th pick in the draft.
Current Ability: D-, Projected Upside: C, Risk: Average

Strange for me to say this but I feel like I am losing interest in my franchise season right now. I am in the beginning of August having played every game. Problem is I have maybe played like 3-4 full games in the last month. I think part of it is the fact that I have a pretty big lead in the division and playoffs are inevitable. Other part is that there are so many other games I have been playing and want to play lately.

I'm torn on whether or not I want to finish out the last 2 months playing every game or just sim ahead to the postseason and play all of those games and be done with it. I love The Show but right now I feel like I am being pulled in different directions gaming wise.

I was pulled away awhile back. I got to August, and well same situation. Big lead, nothing truly different in gameplay (same commentary, cut scenes, ect...).

I think they need to add something so it is worth playing every game. Like a MLB Network mini show, pre-game breakdown, post-game, anything new. The gameplay has changed, but the presentation is getting stale to me.

Baseball is my favorite sport, and I am not bored playing the games because that is silly. I could watch/play baseball all day. I just want to be greedy and need more next year so that Red Dead Redemption 2 and WWE don't make me put it on the shelf like games had me do this year.
Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

I haven't been pulled away from The Show just yet. Granted, I'm mostly into RTS, Strategy games (like the old Koei games), and RPGs if they do something different (like the NIS or Atlus games usually do).

So that doesn't leave a lot of games to distract me from The Show.

I mostly take breaks (then play a lot) or play a few games spread through the day on most days which leaves "natural breaks" so I don't get burned out too much while still finishing a season in about 8 weeks or so playing all the games.

                    Boeve Pushed But Still Perfect
Marlins Rally to Help Their Ace

"He's carried us a lot, I think it's only right we help him once in a while, " Davis commented after the game.

Not that Boeve had a "bad" game. It's "bad" by his standards, though. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings of work. He did strike out 12. Most pitchers will take that 20 times a year. Boeve? He crushed his sunflower seeds, smacked the cooler with his glove, and flopped down on the bench in disgust.

It looked like the first "L" would be next to his name in this one.

The Marlins hitters could do nothing against the Brewers starter Vincent Velasquez. The team found themselves down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 9th.

With the Brew Crew sending their closer Bedrosian out, it looked bleak.

However, Arturo Gonzalez picked up a hit to give the Marlins a leadoff baserunner. Jay Craft followed with a single. Then Ybarra battled Bedrosian for 12 pitches and managed to work out a walk to load the bases.

Chet Doyle then came in to pinch hit. His reputation for clutch hits showed through as he stroked a double into the gap to tie the game. Yelich was then hit by pitch to load the bases...but the Marlins would somehow find a way to not score the winning run.

Curtis Anders came in for the 10th and, once again, was untouchable. He lowered his ERA to 0.26 with a perfect inning.

The Marlins got another rally starter in the 10th. And again it was from the bottom half of the order. Brito got a hit, then Gonzalez followed with his 3rd hit. Brito went to third on the play.

Then Leverton, the Brewers reliever, hurt himself throwing a pitch out in anticipation of a squeeze attempt. No play was on and now a new reliever had to come in, this time Novak, a flamethrower.

Jay Craft was not intimidated. The second fastball he saw was deposited into the gap to win the game.

"Any wonder why the Marlins are so hard to beat? Even when you slow down their ace, they just keep fighting and it's hard to not give them a crack for nine innings. That Ybarra at-bat was just beautiful. Twelve pitches? Get a walk? Against the closer?" one analyst commented.

The Marlins will look for the split with Heredia on the mound. Meanwhile, someone can tell Boeve his ERA is still of epic proportions. 1.17 is not bad.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

After being swept in four games by the MLB best Giants, I was down 6-3 entering the top of the ninth against the Royals. After two uninspired at bats by Mike Napoli and James Loney, leaving me with 2 outs and no one on, Asdrubal Cabrera roped a double off the right field wall. Next up, Wilmer Flores hits a single up the middle to bring home Cabrera. 6-4. I pinch hit Brandon Nimmo for Coco Crisp, hoping that he can tie this game up, but he walks on four pitches. David Wright comes to the plate with 2 on 2 out, and sitting on an 0-4 day. He takes a 3-1 fastball over the left field wall to take the 7-6 lead! Familia closes it out.

It was one of my favorite wins I've had, given the four game losing streak and since my team has been spiraling out of control with injuries to Syndergaard, Cespedes, Reyes, and deGrom.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm finally getting started in my franchise. I had a couple before but this one will likely be my carryover. I am using Houston's MLB on Fox rosters and will carry this save over unless he makes them for 2017 early next year. Currently I am playing 1 out of every 10 games, this adds up to about 16 games a year.

I play with quick counts and am considering going back down to 1 then sim 5 but for now I am doing this. I'll probably restart again at some point knowing me but this is what I'm rolling with right now. The other alternative is I may go back to Play 1-Sim 5 when next year's game comes out. Right now though I just dont have time to play 162 games.

Currently I am a little bit over midway through May and the Astros are 23-21.

In April we had a pretty good start going 15-9 but we started struggling near the end of the month. So far in May we are 8-12 so struggling quite a bit.

                        Pitching Stats:
                        Dallas Keuchel - 2.98 ERA - 1.20 WHIP (4-2)
                        Lance McCullers - 4.05 ERA - 1.50 WHIP (0-1)
                        Collin McHugh - 5.59 ERA - 1.59 WHIP (1-5)
                        Doug Fister - 3.53 ERA - 1.24 WHIP (7-2)
                        Scott Feldman - 3.42 ERA - 1.08 WHIP (5-2)

                        Mike Fiers - 6.16 ERA - 1.55 WHIP (2-3)
                        Josh Fields - 2.60 ERA - 1.56 WHIP (2-0)
                        Will Harris - 1.69 ERA - 1.13 WHIP
                        Tony Sipp - 4.00 ERA - 1.06 WHIP (0-1)
                        Pat Neshek - 2.79 ERA - 1.14 WHIP (0-1)
                        Luke Gregerson - 7.36 ERA - 1.64 WHIP (0-1)
                        Ken Giles - 2.65 ERA - 1.35 WHIP (15/17 Saves)

                        Batting Stats:
                        Jose Altuve - .289/.376/.543 - 9 HR - 23 RBI - 11 SB
                        Carlos Correa - .284/.364/.497 - 6 HR - 24 RBI - 3 SB
                        Carlos Gomez - .289/.338/.483 - 7 HR - 16 RBI - 6 SB
                        Evan Gattis - .227/.262/.532 - 13 HR - 26 RBI
                        Marwin Gonzalez - .292/.331/.453 - 5 HR - 18 RBI - 2 SB
                        Colby Rasmus - .242/.306/.462 - 6 HR - 16 RBI
                        Luis Valbuena - .278/.370/.508 - 7 HR - 19 RBI
                        Jason Castro - .248/.295/.442 - 5 HR - 14 RBI
                        George Springer - .263/.371/.354 - 2 HR - 12 RBI
                        Jake Marisnick - .250/.293/.329 - 5 RBI - 10 SB
                        Tyler White - .260/.302/.480 - 2 HR - 5 RBI
                        Preston Tucker - .159/.178/.159 (lol)
                        A.J. Reed - .350/.395/.475 - 1 HR - 3 RBI

A.J. Reed was called up recently I was very careful about calling him up too early but he was ready, obviously. He is having a great start as those stats are only in 11 games and 40 AB's. I would like to see more dingers but it will due as he is still fairly raw.

Alex Bregman was very close to a callup after starting the season on fire in AA he was batting over .300 for about 80 AB's I put him in AAA he slumped for a bit but he is starting to bust out of it. I project he will be in MLB by the end of June.

                        Other prospect recaps:
                        Spoiler

In other news I have signed Yuli and Lourdes Gurriel to minor league contracts (Big contracts in the off season). Yuli is currently in AAA (A bit earlier than real life but I believe he was eligible to be signed whenever this year).

Lourdes will likely sit in A all season to be realistic.

                        Finally standings:

                        AL West:

Another Update as I just passed the trade deadline, the Astros have turned things around and are dominating the AL West with a 72-48 record and a 10 game lead in the division.

                          Batting Stats:
                          Jose Altuve - .297/.379/.563 - 25 HR - 63 RBI - 29 SB

                          Colby Rasmus - .277/.332/.465 - 14 HR - 51 RBI
                          A.J. Reed - .287/.340/.446 - 11 HR - 48 RBI
                          Evan Gattis - .245/.281/.493 - 20 HR - 51 RBI
                          Jason Castro - .275/.337/.436 - 12 HR - 39 RBI
                          Yulieski Gurriel - .281/.337/.455 - 7 HR - 31 RBI - 5 SB
                          Jake Marisnick - .278/.316/.364 - 1 HR - 18 RBI - 20 SB
                          Alex Bregman - .229/.253/.395 - 6 HR - 15 RBI - 3 SB
                          George Springer - .309/.403/.477 - 6 HR -26 RBI - 5 SB (DL)
                          Tyler White - .281/.336/.481 - 4 HR - 19 RBI

George Springer was hurt very soon after the last post and would (will) end up missing the rest of the season.

Yulieski and Bregman were called up soon after as well. Yuli has been up and down but he is finally finding his groove and has settled in. Bregman will have a week or 2 where he is batting .270 then a week or 2 of batting below .230 . He has shown more power than we before thought but is incredibly inconsistent. He is unhappy about his role though so that could be part of the reason.

We made 2 trades at the deadline:
Miguelangel Sierra & Andrew Toles for Danny Duffy (Sipp wasnt cutting it as our lefty specialist)

Doug Fister for Rob Refsnyder, Chad Green & Ben Gamel (Needed to free up a roster slot, Fister was starting to struggle so I dumped him)

Gattis, Altuve, Correa, and Gonzalez all made the All-Star game, Gattis, Altuve and Correa started.

                          Prospect Updates:
                          Spoiler

We have a ridiculous amount of prospects so I decided it would be a good idea to get an idea on what my ideal Rotation/Lineup is going to be for next year:

                          C - Gattis
                          1B - Reed/White
                          2B - Altuve
                          3B - Bregman
                          SS - Correa
                          LF - Gonzalez
                          CF - Hernandez
                          RF - Springer
                          DH - Gurriel

Bubble: Singleton, Gurriel (Could play Left field), Cameron, Kemp (LF), Moran

                          1- Keuchel
                          2- McCullers
                          3- McHugh
                          4- Devenski
                          5- Musgrove/Martes

                          Bubble: Rodgers, Peacock, Fiers

The 5 slot is heavily up for date we could also retain Feldman, unlikely but it is an option.

Quick question regarding offseason MiLB contracts & new deals for arbitration players:

When do you issue new contracts for players? Is that the first thing you do? Or do you wait until the deadline dates to issue those contracts?

I had a big write up for my end of season report but the game didnt save and Im not doing it again :P

                              Award Winners (AL):
                              MVP - Khris Davis
                              Cy Young - Corey Kluber
                              Batting Title - Xander Bogaerts
Reliever of the Year - Zach Britton
Rookie of the Year - Nomar Mazara
                              Hank Aaron - Mike Trout

                              Astros Winners:
Silver Slugger - Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa
Correa was runner up for MVP and Hank Aaron award. Also 3rd in Gold Glove race. He is who we thought he is.

                              Award Winners (NL):
                              MVP - Clyaton Kershaw
                              Cy Young - Clayton Kershaw
                              Batting Title - Paul Goldschmidt
Reliever of the Year - Kenley Jansen
Rookie of the Year - Kenta Maeda
                              Hank Aaron - Joey Votto

The Astros had an extremely exciting postseason run and ended up coming up just short. They finished the season 96-66 locking up Home Field advantage for all of the post season.

They would sweep the Wild Card winning Texas Rangers after an amazing 8 run inning to come back in Game 2.

I cant actually remember who we faced in the ALCS but it was a solid series we were tied 2-2 then the Astros went on to win 2 straight and take the series in 6.

The World Series and the Astros have repeated history. They got swept by the Washington Nationals only one game was truly close. But this is a young team with a ton of potential that will be back even better next year.

                              Notable Trades:
                              Khris Davis to Red Sox
                              Wil Myers to Indians

                              Notable Signings:
Wade Davis to San Francisco (6yr/44M)
                              Stephen Strasburg to LAA (7yr/204M)

The Astros had an amazing off season, well really it was only 2 signings but these make Astros the clear favorite to win it all this year along with the upcoming prospects.

The Astros would sign Wilson Ramos (Yes from the Nationals who beat us in the World Series) to a 4yr/48M contract. He chased the money in a bidding war that was tight but the Astros won out.

The Astros also signed veteran reliever Yusmeiro Petit to a 2yr/6.4M contract bolstering our bullpen even more. We had a very strong bullpen but this is meant to be the Pat Neshek replacement who we let walk.

I considered making a trade for a starting center fielder as we let Gomez walk but I felt like that would be too forward of a move for a very young team with a still great farm. So we will stick with what we've got for now.

Our lineup for Season 2 (2017):

                              C: Ramos/Gattis
                              1B: Reed/White
                              2B: Altuve
                              3B: Bregman
                              SS: Correa
                              LF: Gonzalez/Tucker
                              CF: Marisnick
                              RF: Springer
                              Utility: Kemp

                              Starting 5:
                              1: Keuchel
                              2: McCullers
                              3: McHugh
                              4: Devenski
                              5: Martes

                              Bullpen:
                              Hoyt
                              Harris
                              Duffy
                              Gregerson
                              Fields
                              Petit
                              Giles

Martes barely won out the #5 slot over Musgrove but he won the slot nonetheless.

I also did not realize Duffy was entering an arbitration year otherwise I would have given up more but oh well.

                              Top Prospects & ETA:
                              SP- Musgrove (2017)
                              SS- Gurriel (2017)
                              CF- Hernandez (2017)
                              CP - Gustave (2017)
                              3B- Moran (2018)
                              RF- Tucker (2019)
                              SP- Rodgers (2018)
                              RP- Paulino (2018)
                              SP- Stephenson (2019)
                              Cameron (2019)

Hernandez will be called up in about 2 weeks to be our starting Center Fielder, he struggled in training camp but he is our best outfield prospect.

Gurriel will be called up to either play Center Field (its a stretch but he can manage) or Left Field.

I plan to trade probably McHugh this season when Musgrove is ready or make someone a long reliever.

I could easily see the Astros winning 100 games this year.

I'm having trouble with pitchers in Franchise. I sim some and play some, every sixth game.

I cannot figure out what ratings to look at for the best pitching results. What do you guys look for?
