Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Well, two games have been played in the ALDS between Toronto and Boston. The Red Sox took game 1 by a score of 3-1. Stroman went 9 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits (2 solo HR to Holt and Ramirez), while Rodriguez went 8 inning of 1 run ball allowing only 4 hits. Toronto's only offence came off of a solo HR by Josh Donaldson. The Jay's bats couldn't string anything together in this one.

Game 2 was very important in this three game series. The Jays couldn't afford to go down 0-2 at home. This game was a tale of trade deadline acquisitions. Firstly, Andrew Cashner went 7.1 shutout innings allowing only 4 hits. Next, Josh Hamilton hit a 3-run HR off of Joe Kelly in the 5th to put Toronto up 3-0. Leading 4-0 in the 9th, Big Papi hit a 2-run HR off of Osuna, but Storen came in and the Jays hung on to tie the series 1-1.

Game 3 will see Aaron Sanchez take on old Blue Jay David Price. Price got the win against Detroit in the Wild Card win and Toronto fans hope he struggles in the playoffs as his track record shows.

Cardinals just got swept by the Rangers in a 3 game weekend series. The first two games we were shutout. In game 3, we fell behind 9-0 before a 7th inning charge made the game 9-6 where it ended. Brandon Moss is really frustrating us right now, as I put in AAA and he hit well, but in the majors he's hitting below .200. Brandon Moss could be finding himself looking for a new home if things don't turn around quickly.

I'm thinking 6 might be the best middle ground, but I just lost 2 MIF for 3 months and 6+ months in the same sim game, to go with the already large number of serious injuries I've had this season.
Go to user settings. Then go to Gameplay Options > General > Advanced (R2/L2) and turn injuries to manual. Then go Mode Specific Options and set injury management to manual in there as well. Then you go to the DL screen, press L1/R1 and you can remove them from there.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Wow. Games 3-4 were madness. Lets start with game three. The Jay's started terrible as Sanchez allowed 3 runs in the 1st inning with a Paredes (acquired at the deadline) bases clearing double, 3-0 Red Sox. Next inning however, the Jay's would rally resulting in a Martin SacFly and a Susac RBI ground-out against David Price, 3-2 Red Sox. In the 4th, Donaldson would hit a solo shot, followed by Martin with a solo shot of his own, 4-3 Jays. In the 5th, Vogelbach would hit his first homer of the playoffs, a solo shot to make it 5-3 Jays. The Jays bullpen has been its strongest asset this year, but they failed this game. In the 6th, Black would allow Bogaerts and Bradley Jr to hit RBI singles. In the bottom of the 8th, a massive rally against Cecil and Osuna would Result in 2 RBI's by Holt and 2 by Swihart to make it 9-5 Red Sox. Donaldson would hit a solo HR in the 9th to make it 9-6 Sox but that would be it. The Red Sox took the 2-1 series lead and push Toronto to eliminaton.

Game 2...Not much to report her. Porcello and Estrada were both very solid in this one. Estrada would allow a solo HR to Mookie Betts to lead off the game with the very first pitch and it would stay that way until the 9th. Top of the 9th, 0 out and Walters would single to center. Bourn stole 2nd after pinch running for Walters. Blackmon pop out, so it was up to Kevin Pillar. Pillar was hitting in the 2-spot due to Bautista experience concussion like symptoms after diving for a ball in the 7th. Pillar against McGee (1.32 ERA on the season), and Pillar doubled. Man on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Encarnacion would ground out, but that scored Bourn, 1-1 now. Man on 1st and 2nd with 2 out and Andrew Susac comes to the plate. Craig Kimbrel comes in for McGee and BOOM. 3-run shot over the monster for Susac against the dominate right hander. Storen would save the game, 4-1 Jays.

Now back to Toronto for game 5! Stay Tuned!

BLUE JAYS MOVE ON TO ALCS!

The Blue Jays have done it. After falling behind twice in this series and coming back both times (especially the last win in the 9th inning in Boston), the Jays had momentum on their side. They decided to roll with Marcus Stroman, who was on a pitch limit rather than with Hutchinson or Chi Chi Gonzalez. Stroman pitched game 1 allowing 3 runs in 9 innings and Toronto hoped for 5 strong innings or so out of him.

He delivered 4.2 innings, allowing 2 runs. Blackmon delivered in this game as well. He led off the first with a triple and scored on a wild pitch by Joe Kelly. In the 2nd inning, Josh Hamilton struck again. He struggled all season long and was even demoted to AAA for a month. He has really been the main factor in this series with the bat. He smacked a 2-run HR to make it 3-0 Toronto. The Red Sox would chip away in the 4th and 5th with Holt homering and Swihart delivering with an RBI single to score Jackie Bradley Jr. 3-2 Jays.

In the 6th, Charlie Blackmon would strike again to add an insurance run with a solo HR. Bautista would smack a 2-Run HR in the 8th to extend the lead 6-2. When Stroman left after 4.2, Chi Chi Gonzalez came in. He won a spot over Bo Schultz with a strong September and delivered in the clutch here. He pitched 3.1 innings of 1 hit ball. Cecil would come in and close the door in the 9th and the Jays will move on to the ALCS to face the Texas Rangers.

Texas defeated Cleveland 3-1 and both teams are looking forward to last years ALDS matchup where Jose Bautista's bat-flip was the hot topic ever since. During the season, the Jays won 4-2 in 6 games (2 series wins) against Texas and will look to reach the World Series for the first time since 1993. Lets have a look at the hot and cold for both teams leading up to the matchup!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

The 2016 season got off to an ominous start for the reigning NL Champion Mets. Presumed ace Matt Harvey went down with a shoulder tear in Spring Training. He'll miss 1-2 months. Starting catcher Travis d'Arnaud will also miss 1-2 months with a broken hand.

The Mets still enjoyed a strong opening day against the reigning World Series champion Royals, though. Jacob DeGrom went 8 innings, striking out 8 while giving up only two hits. He held the Royals scoreless. Familia came in and shut the Royals down in the ninth. Duda hit a solo shot in the 2nd and Cespedes hit a two run bomb off Hochevar in the 8th.

Five games later and the Mets are 5-1, first in the division, with their only loss against the Phillies. Next up, the Mets host the 2-4 Marlins, as Thor takes on Wei-Yin Chen.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

The Houston Astros have shut out the Texas Rangers 10-0 in a dominating performance by Drew Smyly. Smyly who only allowed 2 hits through the first 8 innings (First hit of the ball game for the Rangers was in the 7th). Smyly racked up 12 strike outs with zero walks in what is likely his best game of his career. Smyly is now 14-4 on the season.

Not only Smyly was dominant though as Carlos Gomez racks up 2 home runs and 5 RBI's. Carlos Correa also went yard for a solo shot. Tyler White also racked up 3 RBI's in a 2 for 3 performance.

The Rangers just could not get anything going what so ever on offense or defense. Altuve and White both got hit by a pitch, White was hit with the bases loaded and the Rangers walked home a run.

The Astros sit at 94-56 with a commanding 11 game advantage over the Mariners. The Astros are the early favorites to take home the championship as they are currently holding the best record in MLB.

Lance McCullers is leading voting for the Cy Young award and Dallas Keuchel is second. McCullers is 15-5 on the year with a 2.35 ERA and 1.07 WHIP, he also has 225 strike outs.

Keuchel is 17-9 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.89 WHIP he has struck out 195 batters.

Evan Gattis is in the running for both DH Silver Slugger and Gold Glove for LF. But it is very unlikely he brings home either.

Jose Altuve is leading votes for the Silver Slugger award at 2B as he looks to pull off the 3Peat. Altuve is batting .292 while slugging .476

Carlos Correa is leading votes for the Silver Slugger at SS, Correa is batting .277 while slugging .531 he is currently sitting at 36 home runs on the year.

I will only be playing 2 more games this regular season and then it is time for October baseball. Barring a complete collapse of the Astros we should have the division locked down.

EDIT: Also it is worth noting that Keuchel, McCullers and Smyly are all top 5 in the league for ERA.

Also Mike Trout is slugging .706 so there is that lol.

                    <table><td bgcolor=#004684>All Star Break - 2016</td></table>

A few things have changed over the last 37 games. First we are finally back over .500 sitting at 46-43. Cleveland is now in 1st place thanks to a 15-2 run to end the 1st half. And the Twins going 16-19 since the 1st of June. We had a nice 9-2 run to end June to get us back into the thick of things. Thanks to no one else the AL really running away with things we are also half a game out of the 2nd wild card behind the Rangers.

                    Standings
                    Spoiler

Offense still not scoring many runs. back down to 3.5 per game. Homeruns continue to improve a bit. 34 in 37 games. Still 26th int he league. Morales and Hosmer are doing their best to power the team. Hosmer is hitting .290/.337/.468 with 15 HR and 54 RBI. He also leads the team in runs with 50. Morales is hitting .297/.353/.480 with 14 HR and 54 RBI. Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain are hitting .275/.342/.414. And the rest of the team is hitting .216/.284/.308. So not good. Gonna change the lineup a bit. Trying to decide what to go with out of a couple options. We may be looking around at trades as well. A guy that can play multiple infield positions. Possibly a right fielder.

                    Hitting Stats

                    Spoiler

But the pitching. The pitching is looking alright. 11th in the majors and 4th in the AL with a 3.65 ERA. The rotation has been very experimental as of late. Sort of a 6 man rotation that consists of 8 guys. Main rotation has consisted of Kennedy, Volquez, Medlen, Ventura and Young. And then we have been rotating in Duffy, Gee and Mike Minor as the 6th guy. So it goes 1 through 5 then Duffy starts. Then 1 through 5 and Gee starts. And so on. Its worked out pretty well. Kris Medlen is 6-2 with a 3.15 ERA in 91 1/3 IP. Ventura has been damn good since the beginning of June. 4-1 with a 2.23 ERA in 44 1/3 IP with a 2:1 K/BB ration 1.17:1 the previous 2 months. If you take out his last start he was 4-0 with a 1.58 ERA Clearly the most improved player since the last update. Volquez's stats are a little misleading. There were 2 starts where the other pitchers just needed some rest so he had to stay out there when he clearly didnt have it. May 2nd against the Indians he gave up 13 runs in 6 innings. And July 2nd against the Phillies he gave up 9 runs in 6 innings. Take those 2 games out and he has an ERA of 3.23. Starting after the break we will be going with an 8 man rotation the first time through. Based on the performances in those games we will pick out main 5 guys. Probably wont be trading for any starters. I feel good that we can get a good enough rotation from those 8 guys. And if not. Kyle Zimmer. He is waiting.

                    Pitching Stats
                    Spoiler

In AAA. About that Kyle Zimmer guy. Its been 4 years. But its close. Really close. Since June 3rd he is 3-2 with a 2.70 ERA, a 12 K/9 and a 4.14:1 K/BB ratio. In 3 starts from June 9th to 19th he went 24 innings. Complete games in 2. Gave up 3 runs. Walked 8. Struck out 11 each game. Oh and threw a no hitter. Im ready to bring him up now. We will see how these next 8 starts go and decide from there. And I already know he will be on the post season roster if we are lucky enough to make it. On to some other prospects. Eric Skoglund is 4-4 with a 2.05 ERA. Jose Martinez is hitting .312/.397/.530 in 234 At bats. If Fuentes starts to struggle more we may swap them out. Which is why we probably wont trade for a right fielder. Balbino Fuenmayor is hitting .288/.356/.489 with 12 HR.

In AA Raul Mondesi is back from his injury and doing well hitting .288/.368/.458 with 10 RBI in the 7 games since his return. Ramon Torres is hitting .309/.397/.424 in 165 at bats. Hunter Dozier playing very AVG hitting .259/.342/.377. And lastly Bubba Starling tore his calf and will be out for a couple months. He was starting to hear up hitting .259/.328/.456 with 9 HR.

In the All Star Game the NL beat the AL 6-5.

                    Spoiler

The next few weeks should be really interesting. 3 game series with the division leading Indians coming up so we will have our chance to get back into first here really soon.

                      Hey guys.

Just noticed one of my top prospects was designated for assignment and it said something about i have 10 days to trade him or place him on waivers. I really don't want to lose him but I'm not entirely sure what designated for assignment means. I'm pretty good with most terms but still learning some lol. Any help on what i need to do would be appreciated.

Thinking about giving up some prospect to search for a power hitting 1B. Not liking the production I'm getting out of that position right now.

                          2016 April Recap

First time doing a MLB The Show franchise and I decided to pick my favorite team the Washington Nationals. After starting off slow, the team has bounced back and finished the month with a 15-9 record behind the strong rotation spearheaded by Max Scherzer and Stephan Strasburg. The hitting has been average. The biggest story of offense has been reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper. Harper has a high average, but didn't hit his 1st home run and bat in his 1st RBI until the middle of the month. Now he recovering on the 15-day DL with a sprained knee ligament that he suffered on April 20. Hopefully he can bounce back when he returns. All in all, the team has been performing well and is only 1 game back from the Mets in the NL East. With players like Bryce Harper and Ben Revere coming back, May is looking very promising.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

After taking 2 of 3 from the Indians at home to close out April, the Phillies moved on to St. Louis for a 4 game series with the Cardinals. Needless to say it did not go well. The Cardinals took 3 of 4 and knocked the Phillies into 2nd place in the NL East with a 16-13 record. 1 game back of the Washington Nationals.

The only win in the series was a 2-0 win in game 3. Jeremy Hellickson pitched 7 shutout innings only giving up 3 hits. Hector Neris and Jeanmar Gomez closed it out for the win. The Phillies bullpen continues to pitch well minus a few hiccups in this Cardinals series. David Hernandez has yet to be scored upon on the season and closer Jeanmar Gomez has an era under 2.

I desperately need Odubel Herrera and Maikel Franco to get going. Franco is hitting in the low .200's with only 4 home runs and 8 RBI through the first 29 games. Terrible. Odubel Herrera had a small hot stretch in the Cardinals series but is still only batting about .200. I am pressing at the plate so much with them because I expect better from them. I am losing patience with second baseman Cesar Hernandez. He is a speed threat for sure when he gets on base but those opportunities are few and far between. He has 9 stolen bases in 13 attempts. A change could be coming whether it be Andres Blanco starting every day or a minor trade. Another possibility is a call-up of top prospect J.P Crawford from Triple-A to play shortstop and move Freddy Galvis to second base. I would prefer to keep Andres Blanco as my super utility guy. He has been amazing off the bench for me.

Next up is a 3 game set in Miami against the Marlins followed by a 3 game set in Atlanta against the Braves to close out the road trip.

How many games per season does this wind up being, roughly? Interesting method. I like the idea of playing more games against division rivals. I'm currently playing 1 game each series, but I'm intrigued by your system.

Just a question: Is there a max number of years a franchise lasts? Or does it last forever? (For example after 30 years do you have to start a new franchise)
