Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Headley has no value. In fact he has a very negative value.
You could essentially pay for someone to take him (take back a contract that's just as bad), but at that point it's really just counterproductive.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
I am thinking about starting a Cincinatti Reds re-build franchise. I would like to trade Joey Votto. What do you think would be a realistic haul for Votto? Thinking of potential destinations such as Texas, Toronto, or Boston.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
TEX: Brinson + Tate/Ortiz + a lesser piece like Jurado/Beras/Matuella
TOR: Alford + Greene/Reid-Foley + Tellez + a lottery ticket type
BOS: Benintendi + Kopech + Travis + a lottery guy like Chavis maybe?
That's just a start. Obviously there are different combinations to toy with but I think some of those guys are realistic.
The huge contract is the kicker here (and the NTC if you're going for realism). I still think Votto is very valuable. Any team looking to acquire Votto will be giving up a lot to get him.
You could have the Reds take back a bad contract to emulate them paying some of the money on his mega-deal, but that would cost more prospects.. It's all user preference.
I'd be very interested to see what everyone else thinks about Votto's value so we can refer to that discussion every time it pops up (it will again, I'm sure). I'm not really set on the deals above, but like I said, it's a decent start. Could be more/less..Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for the very detailed response. I will likely start my franchise and let the first couple of months play out and then determine who is in position to make a run. I will try to piece something together around the All Star Break based on your recommendations. I likely will have to take money back just to get the trade to work with the budgets in the game so will try to take back a bad contract on an expiring deal.TEX: Brinson + Tate/Ortiz + a lesser piece like Jurado/Beras/Matuella

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
What's the value of Colby Rasmus ? I'm wanna add Jake Marisnick to my everyday line-up, to take advantage of his speed and defense, and although I could probably use Rasmus as a DH, I wouldn't mind trading him if I could get some value.
Pieces I could be looking for: pitching (mainly bullpen), someone to platoon 3B with Luis Valbuena, depth in the outfield to replace Rasmus in my 25-man roster, or a decent prospect I could spend some time developping.
Any suggestion of teams that would be interested in Rasmus ?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Considering they are really cheap to get, a low C Prospect or even a couple D Prospects....
I like to get a good utility guy that can play nearly everywhere. I also look to target good role players, guys that can do one thing Particularly well.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
In my Yankee franchise (first time using having budgets on) so I'm not sure how I feel about paying Chapman after the season so I am looking to trade him at the all star break. Earlier I had traded Jorge Mateo in a package to acquire Nolan Arenado so behind Didi I am very weak at shortstop.
If the Twins are in contention near the all star break is Nick Gordon for Chapman a fair deal? Should I be giving up more? Should they be giving up more?
If not, any ideas on a shortstop prospect I can acquire for Chapman?Comment

But value wise the deal is fairComment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Top of my head is Brock Holt (BOS), Alexi Amirista (SD), Andy Burns (TOR), Bonifacio (??), Sean Rodriguez (PIT), Mike Aviles (DET), Kelly Johnson (ATL), Ryan Rua (TEX), Elliot Johnson (FA). Don't know if this helps or not. Is this the kind of player you are looking for?Considering they are really cheap to get, a low C Prospect or even a couple D Prospects....

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
What would a deal look like for Freeman to the Jays in the off season? I just let Jose and Edwin walk and have some cash and would love Freeman batting somewhere between Donaldson & Tulo. He seems like a solid fit, just depends on the cost prospect wise if I can fill it.Comment

I may be biased, but a whole lot. The Jays only have 1 top 100 prospect in Alford, so I don't know that they have enough to make it happen. If they did it would probably start with Alford, Pentecost, and probably someone like Reid-Foley.
If he was going to Boston for example it would probably be something like Benintendi plus Espinoza which is more valuable than any two Toronto could put together.
I would like to hear what others have to say about this, but it would definitely take a lot, and the Braves need impact bats.Comment

With Hanley Hustle playing pretty good first base I hope any Freeman to Boston rumors are quelled, plus they've got Sam Travis down in AAA and many people within organization like him a lotI may be biased, but a whole lot. Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
The point was A: to show his value by using another team as an example, I could have used Pittsburgh or Houston and B: that every AL team could find room for a player like Freeman. Even if they have a solid 1B they still have a DH.
Plus Hanley has been worth -.2 WAR so far this season and 6.4 WAR since 2013. Freeman has been worth 0 WAR so far this season and 12.6 WAR since 2012. Hanley is 32 years old and Freddie is 26. One is on the back end of their "prime" while the other is just hitting theirs.Last edited by GamecocksLaw17; 05-03-2016, 04:23 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
I think you're over valuing Freeman. He's a good player, pretty solid offensively and good with the glove, but to expect 2 that high level of prospects for him is over doing it.....
