Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
I have done a draft as the Giants. i was playing last night and the diamondbacks brought billy hamilton in to pinch hit. the following half inning i saw that he had been double switched and was now catching. i looked at their roster and saw they had 9 RP and only 1 man on the bench. After the game i checked out some other teams and found this to be a bit of a theme. does anyone else see this, or does it not bother them? im debating whether i can go on like this because the other teams are at a disadvantageComment

Rays fall to Orioles in Road Debut, 3-1
Tampa Bay took on the Baltimore Orioles on the Road tonight, falling 3-1. The Orioles jumped on Bartolo Colon early when Eduardo Escobar took him deep in the very first inning. Tampa evened it up with an Alexi Amarista solo shot in the 3rd inning (filling in for an injured Kris Bryant). The difference came in the Bottom of the 4th when Evan Gattis Doubled to right center, driving in Bryce Harper and Eduardo Escobar pushing the Orioles to a 3-1 lead. The score wouldn't budge after that as the Rays couldn't manage to make a dent. Bartolo Colon pitched well in his first outing of the year, going 7 full innings allowing only 4 hits and striking out 4.
The Rays fall to 3-2 on the season as they will attempt to rebound tomorrow in game #2 of the road series against the Orioles at 7:05PM tomorrow night.
Probable Pitchers:
Tampa Bay: Danny Salazar (0-1, 8.31 ERA)
Baltimore: Ubaldo Jimenez (0-0, 0.00 ERA)NCAAM: Wichita State Shockers

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Rays shut out Orioles in Game 2 as pitching dominates
Tampa Bay Rays: 3
Baltimore Orioles: 0
WP: Danny Salazar (1-1)
LP: Ubaldo Jimenez (0-1)
S: Joe Nathan (1)
The Tampa Bay Rays returned to the Win column with a very quality win at Camden Yards tonight, winning 3-0 over a tough Orioles team that bested them last time out. The series has proved to be a very defensive one as the first 2 games there has only been 7 runs scored between the two teams.
The game was deadlocked at 0 through the first 7 innings of play with Danny Salazar and Ubaldo Jimenez matching each other pitch for pitch. It wasn't until the 8th when Joc Pederson lined to right for a single followed up by an Alexi Amarista bunt single got the Rays going and Jimenez out of the ballgame. The Rays scored their first run of the game on an Ichiro Suzuki fielder's choice. Jonathan Schoop would single home another run to bring the Rays lead to 2-0 as the 8th came to an end. Jorge Soler went on to homer in the 9th for an extra insurance run. Joe Nathan came on in the 9th and despite a walk, cruised through the inning nicely for his first save of the season.
Danny Salazar pitched well to earn his first victory of the season on 7 innings pitched, only 3 hits allowed, and 5 strikeouts. The Rays were caught stealing twice tonight (Suzuki and Puig), continuing their streak of 6 games to start the season where they are yet to steal a base.
Join us again tomorrow as the Rays will attempt to take the Rubber Match of the series against the Orioles. First Pitch is at 1:35PM
Probable Pitchers:
Tampa Bay Rays:
Aaron Nola (1-0, 6.43 ERA)
Baltimore Orioles:
Jordan Zimmerman (0-1, 8.44 ERA)NCAAM: Wichita State Shockers

BOSTON RED @ CLEVELAND INDIANS - GAME 1
April 4th, 2016 | The Indians hosted the Boston Red Sox on Opening Day, hoping to begin the season the right way. And they did just that. Both starting pitchers were on top of their game, only six hits combined before Boston's manager John Farrell made a somewhat questionable call in the 8th, taking A.J. Griffin out of the game, eventhough the 6'5 starter had been virtually untouchable up to that point.
This is where things started to unraveled for the Boston Red Sox. Used as pinch runner for Gary Sanchez, second baseman Delino DeShields Jr. quickly took 2nd base. Danny Santana lined to left, pushing DeShields to the plate, to tie-up the score, 1 to 1.
Ender Inciarte doubled, and Randal Grichuk received an intentional walk to load the bases for...Carlos Correa. The Indians' first round pick didn't miss his chance to make a bunch of new friends in Cleveland, sending Choate's next pitch over the fence for a grand slam.
With a comfortable 4-points lead, Terry Francona decided to give Chris Archer a chance to finish what he started. Archer didn't disappoint, posting a complete game in which he recorded 12 strikeouts, including 4 against Boston's Matt Carpenter.
---
BOSTON RED @ CLEVELAND INDIANS - GAME 2
April 6th, 2016 | They say pitching is the name of the game. It sure did help in this one. Both starters were remarkable, allowing only five hits in a combined 13 innings. Michael Wacha threw 5 perfect innings before Juan Lagares's single who fell just a few feet in front of Ender Inciarte in left field.
Eric Hosmer produced the only two points of the game in the 6th inning, when he reached 3rd base on a line drive to left, mishandled by Evan Gattis who tried to dive to catch the ball, but ended-up missing it by quite a few steps. Inciarte and Grichuk scored, while Carlos Correa got called out trying to reach the plate on a very precise throw by Troy Tulowitzki.
Keone Kela and Ken Giles finished the game, the later recording his first save of the season.
---
BOSTON RED @ CLEVELAND INDIANS - GAME 3
April 7th, 2016 | If pitching ruled in game 1 and 2 of the series, the long ball defined game 3, as the Indians and Red Sox combined for 5 homeruns throughout the game. Incidentally, Boston's 3 solo homeruns were their only 3 hits of the game.
Trailing by 3 points in the 7th, rookie Nomar Mazara followed Eric Hosmer and Kyle Seager's singles with his first career homerun, trying up the score at 3.
Held in check up until that point, with 3 strikeouts, center-fielder Randal Grichuk allowed the Indians to sweep the Red Sox by hitting his first homerun of the season, to break the tie in the bottom of the 10th.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
The final two games of the home-and-away series with the Braves took place at Fenway Park.
In the first game, the Braves just got flattened. At first, the speed had DeGrom flustered and distracted along with his battery mate Carlos Ruiz, who had 2 passed balls in the second - both leading to runs.
That started a 5-run attack to get the Red Sox off and running. From there, things just fell apart for the Braves. The game ended with the Red Sox on top 15-1.
The second game was much tighter. The Braves jumped on Bundy with the big blow being a Trevor Story 2-run HR in the 4th to put the Braves on top 5-0.
Gallo, however, pulled the Sox back into it with a 3-run HR to make it a 5-3 game.
Once again, the Red Sox bullpen did all they could to keep the team in the game. Urias picked up two more strong innings as he really has blossomed in the bullpen. Herrera took 2 innings and give up just a hit and a walk. Then Robles finished off the 9th.
Former Red Sox Jonathan Papelbon came in for the save. Sano promptly planted one into RF to make it 5-4. However, the Sox could get no closer and fell by that same score."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Red Birds take two out of three and sit in the cat birds seat in the NL Central.

"Inciarte is all smiles with his hot start at the dish for the Red Birds"
April 14-17th 2016 - The Reds came to town a game up in the NL Central and left St Louis a game back. The Cardinals took the first two games of the series in dramatic fashion and then lost a tough one to the Reds in the series finale. Bryce Harper is wrecking havoc hitting 3 HR's in the series. He now leads the NL with 7 dingers early in the season. Rookie SS Jacob Herzberg continues to show amazing defense and contact hitting as well as great base running. The kid has been a huge help filling in for Francisco Lindor. If he keeps this up it will be very hard to keep him off the field. Also rookie Tyler White is still pounding the baseball. He very well may become the DH vs the AL and the starting 1B vs Lefties. Greg "The Birdman" Bird launched a couple of HR's in the series as well. He also got a start vs a lefty and bombed a high and inside fastball into the RF bleachers showing he can be trusted vs Lefties. Brock Holt had a solid series at the dish as well. Ender Ciarte continues to flourish in the lead off role vs RHP and make great plays in CF. Starling Marte is off to a slow start with his power numbers but is looking great hitting lead off vs LHP (he hits 4th vs RHP). Mikael Franco is also showing why he is the starting 3B every game.
The starting pitching as been very solid to start the year and the bullpen has had some great moments as well. Jeff Smoker has quickly established himself as the teams shut down LHP out of the pen and Betantes has been dominant.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Heh - well it's in bullpen work so good for 2-3 innings at a time and mostly low leverage situations - so not sure how he'd be with the game/lead on the line late.
One thing I've noticed is he's one of those "he's fine until things start going against him" sort of pitchers. A couple runners gets on and he starts to falter. That's what seemed to get him as a SP. He'd do fine, then give up 3 runs in an inning. Then be fine after that until another multi-run inning."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
