First Month is over for the Redsox. Currently sitting 18-8 with a 3.5 game lead over the Rays in the AL East.
Injury's to Andrew Heaney and Henry Owens meant that Julio Urais and Chris Young spent some time in the Majors with Jake Peavy getting a few starts.

    3B Adrian Beltre .313/.375/.515
Doing good work with 5 home runs in April
    C Yan Gomes .195/.213/.338

    2B Chase Utley .264/.339/415
    Solid start
    CF Billy Hamilton .211/.272/274
Needs to get on base more to take advantage of his speed. Unsurprisingly leads the club with 8 stolen bases.

    Bench
    WB Jurickson Profar .213/.260/.234
Hasn't earned any more starting time over Utley yet
    LF Brandon Durry .317/.388/483
Great start off the bench. Will be pushing Hamilton for playing time if he keeps it up
    C Austin Hedges .222/.250/.222
Hard to judge with only 22 ABs
    2B Ramiro Pena .250/.283/.341
    Doing his job well

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

      Opening Day 2018

Here's how the Sox will line up to start the 2018 season.

      Typical Lineup:
      1B Stephen Piscotty
      2B Addison Russell
      3B Joey Gallo
      LF Miguel Sano
      DH Kyle Schwarber
      CF Byron Buxton
      RF Mallex Smith
      C Audry Perez
      SS Jorge Mateo

      Bench:
      1B Josh Bell (R)
      C Derrick Chung
      IF/OF Kike Hernandez
      OF Mark Trumbo

      Starting Rotation:
      1. Yu Darvish
      2. Kenta Maeda
      3. Taijuan Walker
      4. Julio Urias
      5. Ozzie Rodriguez (R)

      Bullpen:
      LR
      Dylan Bundy

      MR
      Corey Knebel
      Carter Capps
      Josh Kalita (R)

      SU
      Aroldis Chapman
      Junichi Tazawa

      CL
      Kelvin Herrera

The Red Sox will open at home against the rival Yankees to kick off the season. Yu Darvish vs. Tyson Ross is the expected match-up on the mound.

      Spring Notes:

Josh Bell earned his way on to the team with a strong spring session. He showed good power and awareness at the plate. He'll be on the major league bench.

Alex Reyes and Carson Fulmer both looked solid and they might push for a spot if fellow "big three" pitching prospect Julio Urias has a season more like 2016 than 2017.

Jesse Winker had another disappointing spring. That doesn't change a lot with what he's expected to become, but it did keep him from making a challenge for the roster. Eventually, the team will have to decide what to do with him or risk losing him to optional waivers for nothing.

Josh Kalita will debut in the Red Sox bullpen. It's not certain how much use the 19-year-old will receive with Knebel arriving via trade, and he might end up being shuttled back and forth if his roster spot becomes needed elsewhere. Still, though, he looked impressive. At this rate, he'll be a fixture sooner than later.

Ozzie Rodriguez had some good successes, but also some struggles, in his spring debut. Ozzie has a wide assortment of pitches, and when he's able to mix them at will, he's tough. His command wanes at times, though, and he doesn't have the velocity to get away with that very often.

Tyler Stephenson might be making his way up from Pawtucket sooner than later. He showed better-than-expected ability at the plate and he was sound behind it as well. The Sox will season him some more at Pawtucket for the time being.

      Top Prospects Ranking:

      1. SS Andres Baez - The versatile Baez starts the year on top of the list according to most, though it was hardly a slam-dunk mention. Baez is more promise than substance at this point, but those that support him think the sky is the limit on him. His main weapon right now is his speed, the rest of his game needs to grow.

      2. SP Alex Reyes - Hard to think he was in the dog house not too long ago, and now he's in the conversation for being the Red Sox most ready prospect with a lot of upside still remaining. Reyes did turn things around in 2017 and he's become a strikeout threat. Further growth could really have him knocking on the door again.

      3. OF Bryon Buxton - Byron hopes to shed the "potential" portion of his "potential everyday player or higher" label. He will get full time action for the first time in his young career. Time for him to show what he can do now that the team has installed him as "the man" in center field.

      4. OF Mallex Smith - pretty much a "see: Byron Buxton" case. It all applies here as well. Mallex might have more to prove as he doesn't profile as a right fielder, but the Red Sox will probably be pleased with his range in spacious right field at Fenway. Anything with the arm, and maybe the bat, will be considered a bonus.

      5. SP Ozzie Rodriguez - The front office really likes this kid and thinks the scouts are selling him a bit short. The scouts say he's got a lot of potential and is by no means a bad major league pitcher now, but he's not as good as Alex Reyes, who they think should have gotten the call.

      6. SP Carson Fulmer - One of the original "big four" pitching prospects that became "big three" when Berrios was traded. Fulmer has lagged behind Urias, who's at the majors, and Reyes, who many think should be at the majors, and he might be falling out of the "big three" if he can't catch up.

      7. SP Pedro Morales - This fireballing right-hander does enough things right to be projectable, especially being just 18 years old. For a high school pitcher, he's more advanced than many and isn't completely "if and maybe" when it comes to projecting him for the top of a future rotation. He still does have warts, though, so a dose of caution is warranted.

      8. C Tyler Stephenson - The big thing with Tyler is simply taking things up to the next level. Right now, he's a fringy, AAAA type player that could be much more. The door to the position is wide open and he's standing within reach of it. Just a matter of him bursting through and claiming the starting job as his own. If he does, he'll jump up to the majors for sure. If he doesn't, the team will try to find someone else and Tyler will miss an opportunity.

      9. 3B Kevin Diaz - Unlike fellow infield prospect Hitoki Nomura, Kevin has the arm to handle any infield position. The question for his defense is the opposite of Nomura's...can he develop the quickness and footwork to field successfully? Scouts think it's more likely for Diaz to make the improvements needed to move up to the majors, and Diaz has the better bat.

      10. CF Clint Fraizer - if anyone is going to break the Sano/Buxton/Smith/Hernandez outfield, it might be Clint Fraizer. He has solid defense and enough raw speed to move around the outfield. He may not look as solid or consistent in Fenway's outfield, but he should hold his own. His offense is coming around gradually, and the team will be hoping for a leap forward there. If it comes, this ranking might not stay this low for long.

Turns out my hunch was correct, Joey Votto's bat is absolutely perfect for Yankee stadium. Frazier & Duvall should benefit as well. The prospect hoarding should allow the Yank's to swing a big time deal near the trade deadline if need be. Although, there are no major areas of weakness on the big league club.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Welcome to the Show, Josh Bell!
First Hit of the Season is a Walk Off 2-Run HR

The story of this game can be summed up in four sentences.

-Yankees work Darvish hard, but can't break the game open.

-Boston's new bullpen showed what it can do while bats flounder.

            -Boston squanders chances to win.

-Josh Bell wins it in 2 pitches with a walk off homer in the 12th.

Farrell was running out of guys. His team played a terrible game, really. Three errors, sixteen men stranded, several of those from the 8th to 11th innings that could have won the game, and bats with nothing in them for the first six innings.

The "no offense but Gallo" thing showed up again. He reached base four times (2 doubles, 2 walks) but no one could bring him around to score even once. Buxton did well, but he hits at the other end of the order...and no one helped him either, even when he hit a triple with just one out in the 11th.

Trumbo actually played a couple innings at catcher to try to save Chung for later and keep his bat in the lineup with a LHP still on the mound. Ironically, the game ended with Bell technically catcher. Chung would have come in if the game would have gone to the 13th.

Bell was called on to hit now with a right-handed reliever going for the Yankees. He came through in the biggest way possible.

"I still can't believe it. They might have thought I was showboating but I couldn't believe I actually did it. I don't even remember starting to round the bases. My first hit of the year was a home run that won a game in deep extra innings. Wow!" Bell commented postgame.

Darvish threw a ton of pitches, refusing to give up the ball before 7 innings. He fought his way through those innings, showing the competitiveness that might be one of his biggest strengths.

Chapman handled the 8th, Knebel did strong work, going four innings and racking up 8 quick strike outs to keep the Yankees from making a push of their own.

What a game! Sloppy defense (3 errors) lead to 8 runs by the Astros. The yanks came into the ninth down 8-5. Josh Rutledge brought the yanks within 1 with a two run double before being thrown out trying to stretch out a triple. Brett Gardner quickly grounded out. Trea Turner hit one up the middle to bring up Joey Votto. Votto was 0-4 at this point, and facing the steps left handed closer Glenn Perkins. First pitch...BAM home run into the upper deck in right field for the win. The Yankees are now 3-0 on the season.

Playing game 4 of the World Series tonight.

Now that I have a dummy Twitter account I can throw up screen shots of box scores and full season stats etc.

Time constraints keep me from getting detailed other than game capsules I have been posting.

Look forward to ending year one and moving to my first off-season.

This will be carried over to MLB 17 for sure!!!!! Amazing franchise for me so far. Love my team. Very invested in these kids I drafted.

Cardinals 1 Victory Away From World Series Party As They Down Royals 6-5 Behind Enciarte's 3 RBI Triple

Inciarte has delivered the goods in the Fall Classic And Makes a Case for a new contract with The Cardinals

The Cardinals are just one more win from realizing their World Series dreams in Year 1 of "The Matheny Manifesto". Ender Inciarte who has been the subject of various rumors from being allowed to walk away, to being asked to expect a platoon role if the club offers a contract, has responded with some amazing timely hitting in the World Series coupled with some web gem moments in CF. Inciarte had a rough 2016 campaign with 2 trips to the DL and inconsistency at the dish. He lost his opening day lead off spot in the order in June as Starling Marte made a push for that role and never looked back. Inciarte then found himself in a platoon role with veteran Ichiro Suzuki as the venerable OF pursued his chase for 3000 hits. But after Ichiro hit his 3000th Inciarte was inserted back into the lineup full time and has not looked back. In the post season Ender is hitting .347 with a 2-2B, 3B, HR 3 SB's and 5 RBI's. He has been one of the big stars in this Cardinals line up along with Greg Bird and Maikel Franco (who also drove in 2 runs last night). Star RF Bryce Harper also launched his 4th HR of the post season to help with the cause.

Pitcher Carlos Rodon had to leave the game with a sore shoulder. He had been hit hard prior to exiting and pitched just 2.1 innings yielding 2R 1 ER on 4 very hard hit balls (3 doubles). Chi Chi Rodriguez came in and did an admirable job in long relief going 3.1 giving up 2ER and fanning 3 batters. Fast rising star in the making JT Chargois pitched a scoreless 8th and "The Undertaker" Dellin Betances slammed the door once again pitching a scoreless 9th with 2 K's for his 7th save in the post season.

It was a 2-1 Royals lead heading into the 6th as Josh Tomlin (who was announced as game 4's scheduled starter an hour before the game in place of Taiwan Walker who had an undisclosed illness) was keeping the Red Birds off balance with his filthy change up. However in the 6th the Cards loaded the bases with just one out. Ender Inciarte then came to the plate and smoked a fastball into LC where CF Billy Burns (who has been incredible this post season with his bat and glove) could not get to. The ball went to the wall and Ender cleared the bases for a monster 3R triple. The Cards would seize the lead to go up 4-2 heading to the bottom of the 6th. But the Royals fought back and tied it up 4-4. In the 7th the Cards would score another 2 runs as Maikel Franco doubled home 2 runs, the Royals would again answer with another run to make the game 6-5 and that is when the Cards bullpen slammed the door in the 8th and 9th.

Francisco Lindor who before the WS was on an absolute tear finally broke out in the fall classic. After going 0 for his first 16 AB's he hit a double to get off the shnide.

Today is game 5 and the Cardinals are sending Daniel Norris to the bump to face off against Taiwan Walker. If the Royals can pull of a win they will have to go back to St Louis to face the Red Birds Ace's in Danny Salazar and Yordano Ventura who finished 2nd and 3rd in the Cy Young voting (to Clayton Kershaw) respectively.

Mike Matheny feels Norris has what it takes to close this out and win it in KC.

Showing Walker hurt with a puled leg muscle.....but going back to Tomlin again...this will feel cheap. Disappointed. Ok....will go in and edit the injury..problem solved.

Desperation. They are trotting out Price on 3 days rest in an elimination game. Here we go.

Saw the replay of the stream. Tough, tough loss.

You can do it - don't let it slip away!

Will the Yankees ever lose?!? 12-0 now - facing the A's who are in first in the AL West at 8-5.

                                15 in a row....

This team just keeps coming back! Down 4-2 against yordano Ventura, two two run homers would put us up 8-4 for the win.

Seth Smith hit a 2 run hr in the 8th to pad the lead. This was Smiths 3rd home run on the season & 100th for his career.
