    Toronto is finally domed, but...

I know this is just for me (and maybe, possibly, a few others), but I am heartbroken over the new infield in Toronto.

The reason why is that, for me, the Astros should play in a dome with the Tequila Sunrise jerseys. I even played with them for a whole season (162 games, fantasy draft, won the season and World Series) playing in the Metrodome. Well, here is where the problem is; I have been waiting for years to use the Skydome as a mimic for the Astrodome. The dimensions on field are almost identical, and the only reason I never used it before is the sun.

It is the only open-air stadium where you could not choose weather, so the sun always shined. When it FINALLY happens that it becomes domed (optional), THEY TAKE OUT THE ASTROTURF!

I could've used it any other year, but we couldn't choose weather. Now I can close the damned thing, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER (to me, anyway).

Minute Maid Park will never be home to the Astros, not the ones I remember, and I finally could play domed ball with astroturf, and the BLUE JAYS screwed me by changing the infield to grass and dirt. AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

If I remember correctly, that means there are no more "turf" fields
with sliding pits in the MLB.

I wish they would make ONE generic stadium, in the vain of Veteran, Three-Rivers, Riverfront, Jack Murphy or Astrodome, and make it retractable roof. That way we could have a quasi-DOME stadium or multi-purpose stadium, like a lot of us watched growing up.

It is still turf they just changed the infield to dirt this year. I for 1 are glad the old turf with the cutouts looked so dumb 80's style. Having said that I understand what you were saying.

I understand what you mean. Personally, I hated the astro-turf and the "cut-outs" and the white arc indicating where the infield dirt would be had there actually been any. BUT, that is a big part of baseball history.

I'm thrilled that some classic stadiums are back this year, but I really hope that future editions include some of the more recently replaced ballparks, like Bush Stadium 2, The Astrodome, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, Riverfront/Three Rivers/Veterans Stadiums (so similar!), Old Yankee Stadium, Jack Murphy Stadium, Metrodome, Kingdome, Olympic Stadium, Memorial Stadium, and the original Comiskey Park. Replaceable as they may have been, they all have a very significant spot in the history of modern baseball.

Most importantly to me, I hope that Tiger Stadium appears in the future. Along with Fenway Park and Wrigley Feild, I'd say that Tiger Stadium includes an important connection between "historic" baseball and "modern" baseball. Cobb to Kaline to Gibson to whoever those guys were in 1999 (wink) that's a lot of history and it would be awesome to have it represented, along with all the others I've mentioned. Heck, even a terrible place like Exhibition Stadium in Toronto played a significant role right?

Man I completely agree. I use 96 rosters, so I am always using skydome when I use Astros or Mariners. I really hope they can give us one dome. Preferably astrodome.

JUST ONE! With the turf cutouts.

Not complaining, just praying (and I am so glad I am NOT the only one who uses Skydome for the Astros...the field dimensions are almost identical)
