    Hitting Advice

So I am very excited to finally be playing The Show 16 especially since I took a break from 15 before this game came out. Now played an exhibition game a bit of RTTS and now I have a test franchise going.

Well I have the same problems that frusturated me so much in 15. In 15 I would often swing at terrible pitches luckily with the Fisheye Camera this is not a problem at all anymore and I can actually draw walks in the few games I have played.

Now my big problem is my timing is absolutely terrible. I hate timing in games. I can hit the ball but the only time i make contact is when I get a runner on I very rarely hit a ball and get thrown out or its a flyout. Its either the timing is great or very very very far off.

So I have started messing with the timing slider and will be giving that shot and hopefully will be able to figure out the perfect setting before OSFM comes out in my test franchise.

Anyways does anyone have advice to get better at timing when to hit the ball. Or advice regarding the timing slider. Thanks.

    Re: Hitting Advice

Hey! I wont be getting 16 until tonight but its y understanding they have 2 slider for pitchspeed this year. One for fastballs and one for breaking balls. If your issue with timing is the fact that you cant distinguish between these two than I would adjust these until they have the least differential between the two (I would guess all the way down for fastball speed and all the way up for breaking ball speed). As you get use to this I would start normalizing it a bit more but there is definately no shame in doing this! The way I finally learnt to hit in the game was back in MLB 12 when I lowered the pitch speed all the way down to 0 and slowly brought it back up. Allowed me to see pitches a lot better! Hope this helps! Let me know!

Thanks for the replies. I have the timing slider adjusted currently and its working well I get realistic numbers. Season opener I had only 3 hits (It was a pitching battle). I have played spring training game with lots of hits as well.

I assume as I play more I will get more used to the game and I will mess with these sliders then.

      Once again thanks!

Another thing you can try (although some might see this as a tad devious) is to switch your hitting view camera to the pitcher perspective. That is, you will be watching from behind the pitcher, like a regular game on TV. In that case, you can usually see the pitcher's grip on the ball at some point (either while they hold the ball in their glove or as they begin their delivery), which will obviously tell you what pitch you are going to get.

The pitch speed slider will be your best friend. At least it is for me. Combine that with the timing slider and you'll find your sweet spot after some trial and error.

The 'bat control' mode of batting practice can be useful. It shows you location of the pitch as far as right-center-left, but not the height. I usually go through that a couple times before each game. It can help you work on your timing a bit if you at least have a clue where the pitch is going.
