    Good thread. I only play franchise and read all the posts. I have 2 questions if someone can help.

    1. The 1st career HR glitch also appears if you play Spring Training? Or you can play ST and then do the workaround for the 1st game of the season.

    2. My biggest disappointment in franchise mode is the offseason, especially the way the CPU handles the free agents.

    a) I get teams signing players they don´t need, like Arizona getting a first baseman when they already have a superstar over there.

    So I use 30 team control and look at what each team needs are, and make the usual offers, but after 1 day, the team removes the offer, even if they have the budget.
    My question is, how do you guys handle the offseason? Any tips are welcomed.

      What i do for the whole 30 team offers thing is change the handling of contracts to manual, and get all MLB impact free agents signed with a team where they have a job. Once they have all signed I put contracts back to auto, let them fill their minor league teams up.

        I really don't know where to post this, so here it goes.

        I was just wondering, for those doing 30-team, what's the consensus about handling some stuff for the CPU like handling lineups/rotations, injuries, free agency, etc.

        I'm doing a franchise now and I leave lineups/rotations, and free agency on manual for the other 29 teams. Sometimes I just don't feel like editing the lineups when let's say somebody gets injured, or when somebody comes off the DL, so I was thinking maybe I should just leave everything at AUTO.

        But I know the CPU produces unrealistic lineups (Wright and Cain leading off) and RP's on the rotation. I've been playing The Show since from the start and had everything at AUTO before. So I was just wondering for this year's version, how screwed up is it? Is it worth it to manage the lineups for 162 games? And how does the AI go about roster call-ups and send-downs this year? Was planning to call-up top prospects sometime during my franchise who have a great chance of being called up in real life.

        Will appreciate any thoughts on this.

          I guess I'm the only one hoping the budgets do skyrocket...maybe the aces (like elite level Kershaw-tier or I guess Arrieta-tier aces) in my carryover will get jobs.

          No one (literally) can afford their salary demands. Cy Young caliber pitchers in their prime sitting without jobs.

          I'll knock wood on the RP in the rotation thing. If anything, I have SP in the bullpen going on because all the relievers look bad compared to them.

              I have not seen it in my 87 carryover. And get this.... "Trade Delays" carried over!!

              I went through pending transactions just last night and a trade was pending approval and I turned it down on behalf of the Rangers.

              So trade delay is in on carry over 30 team franchises.

                Thanks Armor, good news indeed! Give us hope that trade delays can be patched in. Loving the 87 so far and will keep playing this one while the devs and roster makers sort themselves out.

                  I'm sure this has been noted somewhere already but what's the word on SCEA possibly fixing the Opening Day presentation for every single game and having home runs show up as "first career," for non-rookies?

                  It's not a game killer but it's really, really getting on my nerves at this point.

                    I leave it all on Auto and just go through every couple of weeks to check out rotations. I don't mess with lineups because it's just too much work, like you said. For the most part, I think the CPU does an okay job of setting a lineup. It gets changed around in sims anyway, so there's no point in trying to set a good lineup for the CPU because it won't be reflected in simmed games anyway.

                    But you can fix the RP in the rotation issues if you find it and it doesn't take too long to find/fix any problems.

                    As for call ups, they're supposed to be more dynamic based on performance this year. I have seen a few in my franchise so far (at the ASB), but I'll go through after the ASG and make any call-ups/send downs that I think should happen.

                    Considering it's been in the last 3 iterations of the game, I'm guessing they don't know what causes it and cannot fix it.

                    For the off-season, I handle all signings myself. So I'll go through each team, evaluate needs, and make offers for Free Agents that I think fit. If there are multiple teams where a player would fit well, I give them identical offers from each team and the game ends up deciding where they sign (as long as the interest is full for all offers, the order doesn't dictate where the player signs which is awesome). I also turn budgets off in franchise to make it easier to put rosters together for all 30 teams.

                      I've never noticed the Opening Day problem or the "first career home run," issue before. I really can't believe it is not a bigger deal that it is. Does everyone have this problem?

                        My first run in with it was this year in my carryover file from '15. But I know it's been around for at least 3 cycles now. Not sure how widespread it is, though.

                          Ugh. I looked up the work-around. I have to say I think it is worth it for me to sacrifice my 9-2 start to have this eliminated. I'm sure by the time I get a new franchise 11 games in SCEA will release a fix. Ha.

                          I really didn't think it would bother me too much but the Opening Day presentation and the commentary and overlays for everyone's "first homerun" is just beyond ridiculous at this point.

                            The main issue I am having with my 87 carryover franchise (I am in 1988 now) is that even on 30 team manual control, when I sim a few games ahead, the CPU takes back all control of rosters and sends guys down and calls guys up. And the rosters the CPU does this to make no sense at all...10 hitters only and 13 pitchers on a team with 2 open spots?? Have tried everything, nothing will fix this. Anyone else noticing this on their '87 franchise carryover from last year's game?

                                I'm not getting the logic in replacing two starters with 2 bullpen guys.



                                Edit: Tested a few things. I think the problem is teams don't carry a "long man" starter anymore. In other versions of the game the 6th starter was the long man. The cpu doesn't seem to carry a long man and instead puts the highest rated reliever in the starting rotation for short term injuries. Even when a dl move is required they seem to sometimes bring up a rp instead of a starter.
