Has anyone noticed that with the AA and AAA players 90% throw absolute gas? I've seen at least 10 guys with a 93, yes 93 MPH change up. The guys seem to hit 97 consistently. Maybe in 5 years with base rosters the MLB will be filled with triple digits lol.

Re: Gas Throwing Prospects?
I'm new to the series but from what I understand they changed prospects and progression this season so that pitching velocity doesn't really go up through regular progression. So those guys throwing 93 MPH are going to be throwing 93 MPH when they make the show, with nowhere to go but down as they get older. Hopefully I've got that right, but I believe it is accurate. I believe they said the same thing about speed, maybe some other attributes. -

Yes, pitch velocity and runner speed are two attributes that start high now. For the reason you state, very few players in real life actually gain velocity or get faster on the bases as they age. These days when pitchers are drafted they already throw upper 90's, like Strasburg, for example. Or Billy Hamilton was already super fast as a minor leaguer.I'm new to the series but from what I understand they changed prospects and progression this season so that pitching velocity doesn't really go up through regular progression. Not sure about a 93 mph change up, though theoretically that should be easier to hit if it is only 4 mph slower than the guy's fastball.Comment

Some pitchers game a couple MPH on their fastball in their early-mid 20s but it isn't particularly common. Most seem to cap out in their early 20s, maintain for X years, then of course decline. A nice change to the development curve by the devs.Comment
