Question on auto base running.

I can take over for any or all runners whenever I want correct? If that is the case...then I can just turn that on but still just do what I do all the time and not worry about this sliding bug showing up.

Yep that's new this year.

When you don't, you'll see "Autobaserunning On".

If you want manual control for the rest of that play, issue a command to a runner (or even just move the L-stick like you're selecting a runner), and you'll go into manual baserunning.

I don't know what interface it is (classic, default, etc) but yeah you can take command even when defaulting to autobaserunning.

Yep default is using the stick to point at the runner you want to give a command to.

Going to try this out. As I also extend leads etc so any touch of a button it will go right to manual.

Sometimes, yes, the runners will go on their own. They'll also take the long lead (one press of L1 from the standard lead) on their own as well.

So if you like to adjust leads and call for steals/hit-and-runs on your own as well, watch that the runner isn't taking the long lead already. Otherwise you might cue him to take that 2-step lead and sometimes the CPU is..."uncanny"...about timing that pickoff to freeze the runner.

It was nerve wracking for me for a while, but I've come to terms with it (though a lot of times I'm like, "you BETTER make it", instead of "NO don't run!" lol). It's like runners that just have a green light, and it's only been with guys that have a decent shot at stealing. Players like 60 speed, 70 stealing...75 speed, 50 stealing, etc. I've never seen it actually send slower guys at all. I think 65 is about the lowest I've seen "go on their own" in my franchises (think of my power 3B with 65 speed and 70-something stealing).

I try to either watch the jump or listen for when the crowd reaction starts relative to the pitcher's motion. If I think he got a bad jump, I'll try to turn it into a hit-and-run. I'll also step out if the pitcher is holding the ball. Make me think something is up. It's like another mini-game for me now

start an online ranked game. first at bat, Jose Altuve gapper. I tell him to go to 3rd, he proceeds to round third. I see his icon saying home in between second and 3rd but there is nothing you can do about it, if you hit R1 he goes back to second. out either way.

how is this still an issue after several patches? im really struggling to understand. is it really THAT hard to let people stop at the base they want to? am I expecting too much? please help me wrap my head around this because i'm just not getting it.

Although I've never had the runner sliding back to the bag issue. This is such a strange 'bug', but over the past week I've had a new one. My BR just stops(as if I hit R2) on hits. It's only happened 3 times I believe, but all 3 times I KNOW I didn't press R2. 2 out of 3 times what should have been a base hit with runners on 1st and 2nd turned into force outs at 2nd. The other time I was able to get the runner to 2nd. Anyone else experience this one? I'll throw up some video later tonight.

Hopefully it can be disected and diagnosed.

Although I've never had the runner sliding back to the bag issue. This is such a strange 'bug', but over the past week I've had a new one. My BR just stops(as if I hit R2) on hits. _ now these I can easily explain....you must send that guy home on contact....your waiting far too long to give the home command and by then the assisted sliding kicks in....that's on you Kodi.


So obviously there are some issues with base-running. I have not seen them yet in my own games amazingly....but obviously they are evident. Video evidence is needed so the team can be aware of what players are experiencing.

Hope they see this and figure it out.

But why would a guy slide into 3rd on a clean single? I could see him getting a late break home because of the late command, but slide? Why is the sliding AI kicking in?

Even with the late command, if the runner doesn't slide, he doesn't spend time getting back up and he could keep going. Play might be close or even an out but at least that's a more like a baseball reaction.

I mean a runner should take the turn on a play like that, even if he doesn't go (and on auto baserunning, they DO take the turn and then end up going back - they don't slide into third and obviously don't go home - sliding AI doesn't kick in then, why does it for manual baserunning).

Assisted sliding if you don't choose a slide it will.....and that is flawed logic with that runner just sliding in.

But clearly the command to go home was far too late. You have to give it a lot earlier than that. But clearly there are issues abound.

What's FUBAR about it is 70 plus offline franchise games for me and counting.....I have not had a single issue with base-running. So I am at a loss for those having it. It's there. But some of us have not had them.

On this one I was so pissed off about it happening again that I decided since Carlton Fisk played before the Buster Posey rule was implemented, he was just going to bash the catcher to smitherenes. I tried to channel my rage, but things don't always work out like I want them to in my mind. He was out, easily...

On balls (Ground balls) that are not known right away.. you aren't going to send runner home.
Once we see the ball IS going through to the OF then we say to go home. Assisted sliding or not there should be no slide what so ever Depending on where the ball is should dictate a round base or stay on base..
The game has a flaw in that aspect.

Besides that.. I've gave the go home command in plenty of time also and the slide still happens.
Game needs fixed.

Runners on 1st and 3rd. Wild pitch gets away from the catcher and runner from 3rd advances home. But the catcher throws to 3rd, which I thought was odd. Well my runner on 1st decided he wasn't happy with advancing just one base as he was about half way to 3rd when the ball arrived, and on top of that didn't slide but attempted to round the base and continue on home. Awesome.

Using auto I have yet to see any runners stop or slide prematurely. My issue is guys getting thrown out by a mile if I don't stop them manually.

EDIT: Just had another similarly stupid play. With a runner on first I drop a bunt down the third base line. Once again, I'm initially confused about the throw the CPU makes as the third baseman turns and throws to third. Well my runner from first decided to round second and head for third and couldn't have been more than halfway there when the ball arrived at the base.

Both of the above situations happened with 2 outs so there could be something wrong with the 2 out baserunning logic, but 2 situations is hardly a large enough sample size to draw any conclusions.
