Though I touch the L2 and R2 buttons all the time as far as batting goes, I'd say that I'm 99.99% certain that I'm not hitting L1/R1 when this is happening. And the last game I played, I had several times where it clearly happened when the only button I hit was X or circle.
Basically, it happens on any ball hit in play where I have a man on second or third, and on any hit where I have a man on first that's not a deep, gapper double. It never happens with no one on base. I honestly don't know how people think and react quickly enough to move multiple runners manually this way. Its ended up turning a lot of could be doubles into singles, and a lot of runners stranded on base.
However, I will say that this is the only baserunning problem that I'm having, and not the weird ones that other people describe. Well, aside from guys making it to second before the ball does on a stolen base and still being called out. That seems to be a total crapshoot as far as what the call will be.
