MLB THE SHOW 16 - Player Model Graphics Talk

I am not sure if I am the only one that notices this or I am the only one it bugs this much but I see nobody talking about them models taking a hit this year on MLB 16. I have gone back form 15 to 16 quiet a few times referring back to each one. I thought this with my first game played on 16 this year that something just didn't look right. The player models I know need to be upgraded as many of us have already stated but its not that really that im referring to the player models on 15 have more skin tone or flesh color I guess u can say compared to the ones on MLB 16.

The players looked washed out or faded or something not as shiny or how you might want to put it. The lighting on the skin on arms, face etc look dull and faded to me. On MLB 15 theres more flesh color to the players. I know some of you will say then go play MLB 15 and I am honestly considering it but I love the things they added to MLB 16 sounds of the show is back, open stadiums, the newer commentary etc, but its hard to get passed these players now, I could deal with them from 13-15 and knew we were not going to get eye catching player models for 16 but I am wondering with the frame rate drops, the player models looking faded out if they sacrificed graphics in this area to give PBR for stadiums and things. Something just does not look right with the player models skin this year.

Not to knock SCEA at all I watch every stream every year since they started doing it and they brought back some great features, but with all the little text and smaller menus makes this game hard to deal with, player model graphics took a major hit. To many changes this year that took us 3 steps back. I am not even going to begin with online franchise the only mode I use to play and reason to buy this game every year, so i was forced to try to play more offline due to no changes to online franchise and the year before that got surprised after buying the game that online was FAST PLAY only. I love baseball and really want to enjoy and play this game, I do think SCEA has done some great things so im not trying to bash them in anyway but just hoping they get back to the basics with less streaming and work on the game how they did before we seen them live on twitch sorry guys but seem the game was less buggy and more complete before these live streams began.

And.......I don't want to hear about how the PS4 memory is about MAXED OUT. I thought the PBR was going to be something new and introduced to us but never was mentioned once that they would half to take from other areas of the game to bring this to us. Classic Stadiums, open roofs, sounds of the show and PBR are all great things we all wanted and needed but if its taken away from other areas of the game is it really worth it? This game had so much hype and potential and I watched every stream, all 3 hrs most of them and was so excited and looking forward to this years game to get surprised with the graphics and really small text menus.

Sorry guys I hope you guys enjoy the game. I bought it off PS store so I am stuck with it no trading it in and its the only game I buy year to year only reason I bought a PS4. So please try to understand my frustrations. I went thru this for about 5 years with 2K Baseball just disappointed right now.

I will preface my response by saying that MLB the show is the game that I look forward to most every year. While I feel that there are some very good things as far as gameplay feeling tighter etc. , this game is buggy as hell this year in comparison with previous years. It does feel like there are many things that slipped through the cracks that really shouldn't have. I also have many gripes with the game this year in comparison with years pasts. Player models, generic faces or lack of face scans for major players are prevalent and it seems more time could have been spent on improving those instead of streams. With all this being said MLB the Show is still a very good game.

Bleacher Report review is very fair and addresses these things in their review.
The MLB The Show series has been as consistent as any sports video game franchise in existence for the past five years. In 2014, we saw the first version of the series on the PlayStation 4 and through two iterations on the newer console, The Show has maintained its excellence.

fairplayleagues - I'm only saying this to help in the future but try to make your paragraphs smaller to help reading. On a computer you need a lot of white space to help the eyes digest words. NOT complaining - just trying to help.

        As for your post.

Yea - I know what you are talking about. I don't have a problem but long hair is really poorly done and it looks like rendering was not completed sometimes as it's flat like you took a crayon and just painted it in.

I also agree I think they pushed this out without really looking at the final product. The stats are all messed up and baseball is all about stats. Fonts are too small and some graphic were not looked at by outside sources.

AWESOME game play but some details were never looked at.

WITH THAT SAID - it's only day 2 so I hope some things will be fixed down the road.

Maybe it's just my tv but the colors, player models, the texture is absolutely breathtaking.

Mlb 16 colors seem to be faded compared to 15 almost like everything has a film or haze over it.

I'm using a Samsung 65" JU 7500 and the player model textures looks good to me. However, my one complaint is the skin tone looks off for some. Some caucasian players look too red and in some cases, even darker than the latin players.

As someone who primarily plays game on PC (Means I am used to high resolution games and high end graphics), The Show is on par with most PC games. I'm with you, it looks absolutely great.

My only with the models has and will always be the hair on the created players and long hair like DrGrom for example. Maybe it's because they're still tailoring to PS3 but it's gotta get revamped asap.

Honestly if I had to guess, it doesn't look like the game is running @ a native 1080p anymore. Almost like the hit from PBR was too great, and they had to lower the resolution and upscale it to 1080. Similar to what you see in a lot of XBOX One titles.

At first it looked like an Anti-Aliasing issue, but there is so many oddities with how certain elements of the UI look. A lot of them look overly big, and ugly, like a cut and paste job. I'm seeing lots of artifact-like flickering (especially on closed roofs) and weird graphical anomalies.

Hasn't the game always ran at 780p?

Here is a comparison of player models, hard to really see the detail in pics but I am posting anyways. If you see it for yourself on the game is the only way to see it but maybe the pics will show you a little of what I said on first post.
