My guess is they have it to where some fans will wear the primary team color, secondary team color, and third team color. The Blue Jays third team color would be red so that's why the fans wear red

Similar with the Tigers -- tons of fans wearing orange, which while being one of the team colors isn't what you see at a live game. Majority will be in blue and white. It doesn't bother me too much, but I can see how red would be particularly jarring for the Jays, especially with so much blue in the stadium itself.Comment
