I actually think the opposite. I feel like hitting is much better this year.

2 things: the bat on ball sound does not sound good! I've been saying it for years, but it sounded so much better back on mlb 08 for ps3, if you listen to that, you'll notice it sounds very "solid," not, "cracked bat," on every pitch. One more thing this year, hitting feels like "under water," even with timing and pitch speeds maxed, it's so slow this year, (the time between pitch coming in and bat on ball,) seems so drawn out.
1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!

I think hitting feels buttery smooth this year

I am only on my second game but I am striking out far less that the games I had played on 15 since I fired it back up in January. It seems I am always able to make contact at some point in an at bat. Way too early though.

I have to say I'm very impressed that so many people can come into this thread and reply without actually reading it.

Anyway... it's a bit early for me to be sure but I think I agree with you OP. The actual hitting mechanics are superb but as far as sound and feel... I'm not really feeling a wide enough gap between a laser home run and a pop-fly.

Re: Hitting Just Feels Weird This Year

I can tell when it's a no doubter, but fence scrapers and even some first row shots are hard to tell. I've started watching the fielder in order to tell what is going on.

Which is funny because that's what I do when at a game in real life.

Don't watch the ball watch the fielder, and you will have a better gauge on how you hit that ball.

Edit: I should probably mention that I play Franchise with the medium camera. Not sure what to do for RttS. Sorry didn't think about that until after I posted.

Like I said, I've not been able to quantify exactly what's different. I don't know if controller feedback was more involved last year or if it's the lack of the sound of the ball hitting the bat as compared to last year. But it's something that just feels very off.
                  i feel the same way,

I feel the same way, I think mlb 13 had the best feel to hitting as far as knowing if I made solid contact or if the ball got in on my hands or off the end of the bat. This years game I just hit it an then wait to see the outcome, not expecting anything. MLb 13's sound of the bat was by far the best of the series as well.

New bat sound is weak, no question. I said this in another thread, but in '15 when you really tagged one you could almost feel it. With '16 I get nothing. A weak chopper and a hard line drive "feel" the same - weak.

                        1) Lower the volume of all the commentators about 1/3 of the way (set around 60-70% of the bar)

                        2) make sure sound effects, crowd, etc. are all maxed

                        3) Raise the volume of your TV or audio system

It's much better than the default audio....you can lower the commentators more if necessary to offset it and raise the volume of your TV or audio system even more

I don't think bat contact sounds weak but just not as loud, like they turned down the volume on the bat contact, JMHO.

Big improvement, thanks. Bat sounds really good for sure, just needed more meat. Now I just need to get used to the home plate umpire screaming in my ear.

I haven't had the commentators volume level above zero since probably '08.

it might depend what interface the user is using.. zone hitting is really good and responsive to input and feel great to me

but I felt directional hitting is not...

maybe some of the people who saying hitting feels weird is not using zone.. just a guess.
