    CPU baserunners?

Has anyone else noticed cpu runners are a little aggressive at times?

They had a runner at 1st and sent him home on a double, my catcher had the ball just after he was rounding 3rd. This is on all-star with default sliders. Maybe it was a bug of some sort being out by that much.

Yea - I have had a number of CPU players thrown out for sillyness. I wish there was a slider for that!

Did any of the situations call for such aggressive running?
Did you happen to notice if the 3rd base coach was sending him or asking him to hold up?

Unfortunately the CPU is running themselves out of innings again. It has been happening for a quite some time. We used to have a slider to combat this which was CPU base running aggressiveness. I focused on this at CD but it appears to be an issue again.

I used to feel this way about my games (I play cpu-v-cpu) until i tried this for a week: I kept a count of "What the hell is he doing?" moments on the basepaths of my franchise and did the same for games I watched during the same week on TV. I kept these tallys in different places, and when I brought the two together, the numbers were amost even! If remember correctly, real life MLB had two more of these incidents during this week. Granted, it is a small sample size and the cpu might be more daring against a human opponent, but i realized that I was used to the almost robotic perfection in video games, so when I see a very human-like blunder on the bases or errors on routine plays in my Show franchise, it seems buggy, but it's just the game emulating a game played by humans. Why, in my last spring training game, the Cubs lost to the Dbacks when C Ross threw a ball into right field trying to complete a strikeout when Pollock swung at a Rondon slider in the dirt. Pollock got all the way to third. Rondon then toughened up and got Ahmed to foul out and then struck Goldschmidt out. When Peralta skys one to left, we are headed to extra innings--but Schwarber drops the ball! Pollock has scored on the 4th Cub error of the game, 2 by Schwarber (his first 2 of the spring!). That is one of the best aspects of the Show. In baseball, s*** happens. The Show does well in representing that.

I've only played on all-star is it possible the cpu runners are "smarter" on higher levels?

As far as that "baserunner aggressiveness" slider I was looking for it for quite some time thinking I was just not seeing but guess I'll stop looking now.

This is indeed an issue with the game, hopefully something that might be patchable?

PS: Just got to thinking, is there by any chance a player attribute to do with base running aggression that could be lowered?

I hear you on the cpu being robotic in its play and no I for sure wouldn't want that, mistakes are nice to see.

Guess I just hope it isn't overdone on the base paths. What I saw was beyond daring/ take a chance kind of thing.

                Re: CPU baserunners?

This has been a problem for years now. I do three things to combat this:

                1. Lower BR speed. This makes them get to 3rd on a double a tad slower, and therefore don't try for extra base as often. I had it at 3 but that was too low. 4 is best you can do.

                2. Lower fielder speed, reaction, and arm strength. Allows the runner a tad bit more time to reach the bases. I have fielder speed and reaction at 3. And arm strength at 4.

                3. I use auto baserunning myself. It makes it fair and even playing field. When I have a guy thrown out at home when he had no business trying I'm upset but okay with it because the cpu will do it eventually at some point.

The first two things do help a lot first and foremost.

Thanks i'll give this a try. Do you have arm strength at 4 for both infield and outfield?

IMO, with limited playing time, baserunnning is close to being a joke. I hope this great game's designers can figure this out and quit worrying about things not related to gameplay. If it doesn't play a great game of baseball, I don't care how pretty it is.

I don't remember if it was last year or if it was 14 but I found on either 14 or 15 that the CPU was way to aggressive on the bases and only that year have I ever had that issue before.

What exactly does a players baserunning aggression attribute do, would adjusting it help with this problem?

I am playing in Veteran Mode, and not seeing much Base stealing. I have upped the Base Stealing Frequency to 7 (2 clicks above standard) Do you think this would be high enough to get them stealing?

I'm using all-star with default sliders and the cpu tries to steal fairly often. Veteran could be different though I guess.
