    Foul Ball Frequency

    I am seeing a huge frequency of foul balls. I play only RTTS (though I can't see why this would be mode specific) and I use pure analog hitting. I've even fouled off a lot of fastballs down the middle where my timing is deemed good. I have the foul ball slider all the way to the left. I was thinking that it might have been related to my plate vision but now I have that in the high 80s but I'm still getting an exorbitant number of foul balls. In a way it's good, because it results in high-pitch count at bats. But some balls that should wind up over the left field fence are just getting fouled back.

    Anybody else seeing this?

    Put the AI foul frequency to 0 and 1 for human. Should be seeing about 15% of total pitches per game end up as foul balls.

      Just an FYI it actually is mode specific, because your PCI and other offensive marks are adjusted depending on the level (AA, AAA, MLB) that you are batting on. Batting on a lower level is akin to lowering the difficulty level.

      Of course, theoretically that should cause fewer foul balls, not more, so that would mean you can expect to see a small increase in foul balls when you get to the Majors. I guess none of this is really relevant, I just wanted to make that correction.

      But yeah, do what Mike said. Lowering the Foul slider should do the trick.

        I'll give that a try, although I don't see why the AI foul slider should have an impact on the foul frequency of my human controlled RTTS player. But I'll see how it goes. Can't hurt.

          No it would be the Human Foul Frequency slider... I think Mike was just suggesting you lower both.

            I can't lower human foul frequency. It's already all the way to the left (i.e. 0).

                This... increasing the Contact slider would work also.

                What sliders are you using? What difficulty level?

                  I'm playing on Hall of Fame. The human contact and timing sliders are both one away from maxed out. The thing is that I am using the same sliders and the same difficulty level as I used for 15 and I'm getting a three or four times as many foul balls as I got in 15. Ultimately, my overall numbers (e.g. batting average, home runs, walk rates, strike out rates) are all pretty realistic. So this is a minor complaint. It's a little annoying.

                    I'm stumped then. I assume you tried playing with the Contact slider at default and only the Timing slider maxed out? I mean based on how the sliders worked last year, raising Contact should definitely reduce foul balls... but there's no guarantee sliders work the same way they did last year... So I would definitely try putting Contact back to default if you haven't already.

                    About how many foul balls are you seeing? In an average game, 50% of the balls you make contact on should be foul.
