    Hitting Tips

Wow...I have been a long time show player(ever since 2006 or whatever it first came out), but to say I cannot hit this year(or in previous years) is completely an understatement....

Can somebody give a breakdown of the various hitting choices(zone, directional, analog) and what each offers as well as tips for how to be successful using that method.

    What does everybody use?

I have found myself in years past struggling mightily to hit home runs. This year I am struggling even more to get even base hits. It's not my patience, as I routinely find myself in 2-0, 3-1 counts.

    Re: Hitting Tips

I've had good success with Pure Analog, but I settled on a version of Directional using a slider set that I've posted both here in the forums and in the Vault: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2048096547

I think the answer to what works best for you is going to take some trial and error, but this is what I use.

      Re: Hitting Tips

I use the Zone interface and I play on HoF

I use the braves so I have a tough lineup to use but I can still manage to hit depending on the pitcher.
These are my tips for zone hitting.
      1. Like you said. Be patient. Your hit circle gets bigger and bigger with every pitch you go ahead in the count etc. (1-0 , 2-0 )
      2. On 3-0 counts don't always take depending on the batter. If you have say Bryce Harper go ahead and have a rip. If you have a weaker hitting guy than take the pitch.
      3. Use pinch hitters throughout the end of the game. 90% of the time a team will bring on the bullpen and when they do, make sure you have the right guys swinging.
      4. Some games you'll be on FIRE , others not so much.
      5. It's baseball. Ball bounces your way and other times it doesn't.
      6. When a flamethrower is up their ( Chapman, Strasburg etc.) start your PCI slightly inside. It's easier to go out for a pitch than to come in. This year fastballs seem, well fast. To compensate move the stick over to the inside part of the plate and adjust.
      7. Take advantage of power swings. In the past the power swing was meh. Only hit a few hrs using it in 15. This year it is lively if used effectively. 2-0 and 3-0 counts are great times to use it because A. You'll most likely get a fastball in the zone. And B. You won't lose that much of your PCI in a hitters count.
      8. Contact swings are key. 2 strike Hrs are rare. At this point your only focus should be to get on base. Not hit a HR.
      9. In hitters counts take advantage of the Hit n Run and bunting with guys on with 0 outs.
      10. Repetitive but true, baseball is hard. Very hard. This game simulated it pretty well. You win some you lose home.
      11. When down by a few going into the end of the game, take a strike. Try to draw walks. After all, you can't hit a 6 Run HR and win it in one swing.

      Hope this helps!

          Re: Hitting Tips

I would recommend to get the best out of hitting is to use zone and one of the closer cameras like zoom or strikezone.. much like Cardinalbird recommends on his channel... that's where I started for tips actually and his advice works but I did try out all hitting interfaces and most cameras

go to batting practice... bat control and practice using different hitting interfaces and cameras and track which one works best for you and gives you the most success. I mean spend at the very least 2 - 3 hours in the hitting cages doing this... this will give you a starting point..

Wow I did actually realize that the pci got bigger in more hitter friendly counts...also will try to start inside on pitches and move outward..I find myself more often than not "out of habit" always pulling down on the pci when I swing lol.

Haha sometimes I do the same. My only weakness are pitches right down the middle. LOL. I always pull the pci one way or another.
