    Re: Target Field Weather

Sadly, judging from the Little Things stream, the weather bug at Target Field was NOT fixed this year. Target Field was shown in an October game and sadly, players were still wearing short sleeves and not long sleeves.

Hoping there's time for this to still be fixed if any Devs manage to see this, but very disappointing that this has been an ongoing issue for 7 years now.

This is a bigger issue this year since the temperature will actually have an effect on the physics/flight of the ball.

This and the fact with it always being Partly Cloudy, rain won't play a factor in fielding. Almost 100% certain that it's never overcast or raining in the game.

We actually did fix this quite a few weeks back. I just loaded into Target Field once in every month with default settings and got the following temps. Seems to be relatively close to actual averages...definitely is not 80 degrees all the time:

          Apr - 64
          May - 74
          Jun - 81
          Jul - 82
          Aug - 80
          Sep - 74
          Oct - 64

Edit: actually, looking at your screens, that's an improvement. It used to be a steady 77 degrees.

I used to live there...that still seems a bit warm for Apr. I'd be in my trunks at the beach at Lake Calhoun!

That's the one problem I have with this, though. I'd like to be able to see cold weather games with players wearing sleeves like they do in the Northeast states. While those might be averages, we definitely have night games in April and October(when applicable ) that get down into the 30's and 40's.

I realize it's more of a cosmetic thing if anything, but it's one of those little things I've been dying to see in the game.

I would definitely like to see the possibility of games in April in the 30-50 range and games in June-September with the possibility of 85+ for day games.

In the past (last year included) the weather in Toronto was similarly off during open roof games. Too warm early in the year and too cold in the summer.

EDIT: MauerMorneau09 basically posted the same thing I did at the same time, but better expressed my wishes in general terms.

I'll double check, but I believe you'll see something pretty close...

EDIT 2: Yes, Target...thank God for Iowa.

For those states? Yes. I know for sure you see cold games in Chicago, Boston, New York, etc. in The Show. I just 100% know that you don't for Target Field. All I'm asking is for night games in April and later October at Target Field in The Show to have games cold enough that players wear sleeves. Maybe it's fixed now, I wouldn't know.

I'm not trying to create a huge fiasco over the whole thing, it's just been one of those tiny things that's kinda bugged me since MLB 10. I do appreciate SCEA's work though, game looks phenomenal.

How do the weather values in franchise mode work? Like for temperature, is it programmed to randomly pick a temp variable from 30-60 in April for detroit for example? If this was the case, you could set 30 as the min for target field in april to get more colder results.

Though it definitely does bring up a good discussion on weather possibly having an affect on games in the future.

After watching yesterday's stream, I can definitely say that weather does have an impact on games - you just can't see it.

The developers said that more errors are made in rain.

Just as important, the developers have a air density calculation that influences hit type - the factors of that air density equation are altitude and temperature. How do I know this? Well, they had their widgets up, and I got a screenshot of the density equation.

                              Re: Target Field Weather

Probably the last thing I'm gonna try to post on this, but I decided to do a little research and testing.

I compared the temps for Detroit and Minneapolis, since they're somewhat similar climates, in April and they're about the same. Average Low temp for Minneapolis in April is 37 degrees and average low for Detroit is 39. Average High temp for Minneapolis is 58 degrees and Average High for Detroit is 59.
I then ran some tests in MLB 16 for temps and how they vary with the weather(cloudy, rain, etc.) I ran 5 of each in Detroit for 1 PM and 7 PM games and got the following results:

                              Detroit April Night Games: 44 degrees(cloudy), 37 degrees(overcast), 26 degrees(rain), 40 degrees(clear), 38 degrees(clear)

                              Detroit April Day Games: 55 degrees(cloudy), 51 degrees(overcast), 51 degrees(rain), 48 degrees(clear), 52 degrees(clear)

I did Minneapolis and got temps mainly in the 70's for night games.

While Adam's test of 64 degrees in April is definitely lower than it was in previous games, it's still too high regardless of being a day or night game. I'm not saying 64 can't happen in April, but Minneapolis is probably the coldest MLB city and shouldn't have temps higher than Detroit. The 50's definitely is more reasonable for a day game and 30's or 40's for a night game in Minneapolis. I'm hoping this clears up some confusion as to what I'm getting at. If you need any more info, I'd be more than happy to provide it.

It's been said on Streams and Vlogs that with the New Ball Physics, the weather has an impact. So cold/warm, humid, rain, altitude all has an impact on new ball physics.
