I guess I'm just lucky or something, I dunno. I see more pulled or slapped hits this year and when I do see shots up the middle they are to either side or over the head of the pitcher.

Now that I say this, when I play tonight, every hit will bounce off the pitcher...

Re: Pitchers constantly getting hit with line drives

There's definitely a better variety of hits this year, no doubt about that. It's just that comebacker that now I can almost predict will careen off the pitcher's leg and to the third base side. And it's with a variety of batters, I've had it happen with Altuve as well as Beltre. The PCI suggestion may be the ticket here, I'll have to try that tonight.

The only reason I'm even mentioning this is that "pitchers avoiding hits" was sort of an advertised feature in this year's game (based on the first trailer), so I'm wondering if it's actually being implemented. Like many things Show-related, some people are seeing it and some aren't, guess that's just the way it goes.

Re: Pitchers constantly getting hit with line drives

I had a stretch where pitchers on both sides were getting nailed. It's like that was the "rule" for the series "let's see how often we can hit the other guys' pitchers".

Fortunately, that hasn't happened again (one guy went out for 3 months with a broken arm).

I see guys get out of the way much more and seem to try to do so a lot. Sometimes they get hurt (hobbling around the mound, etc), but not often.

Re: Pitchers constantly getting hit with line drives

There may be different factors that go in to whether or not you see a pitcher getting hit with line drives. That does not take away from the fact that, when a pitches does get hit hard, they are not being taken out of the game. I don't care if it's once every forty games or ten times in one game, if a pitcher is nailed in the head, they should be taken out of the game. I do realize that pitchers are not taken out every time, but they are taken out more often than what is portrayed in the game. Now is it game breaking? Not in my opinion, The Show Team has done a good job of putting together another great game, but it would be nice to see these little details that are reoccurring addressed.

Count me in as seeing this happen 2-3 times a game

And, to the one guy who who attacked the op, my question is, why?

Let people express what they experience without getting so offended. It's pretty clear that it's an ongoing element of the game. And, it doesn't happen that often in the bigs.

I agree with Gagnon, that it must be really hard to code for. The SCEA team is spot on and they're aware of the problem. If it could be fixed, I'm guessing they'd have fixed it.

There's no doubt that the number of times it happens is reduced this year. I've already seen a ton of animations of the pitcher getting out of the way that I've never seen before.

Re: Pitchers constantly getting hit with line drives

I have been going through a great stretch of this not happening. A lot of the balls are getting through for clean base hits.

I did have a couple of games it was bad. But this has been improved drastically thus far (at least in my time with the game) from previous years.

It's happening a helluva lot for me now. Just happened in the ninth during a rally and cost me two outs. I was NOT happy. I don't know what the team can do about this, but it's extremely annoying when it costs you a game.

Well...in 150+ conquest games I have seen it maybe 5-6 times. Seems much improved to me.

I think people get frustrated when others use anecdotal evidence and small sample sizes as proof that there is a problem.

Well, to be fair I never said "this is problem and it needs to be fixed." I'm only stating what my experience has been so far and was asking if others had experienced it as well. Seemed like a fairly harmless question at the time.

I don't think it's a problem overall per se. I didn't hit the pitcher once in all my conquest games last night. It's just that when it does happen it's all or nothing. You rarely see a pitcher get hit by a batted ball. And when you do, the ball doesn't always stop somewhere near the pitcher. You should see the ball taking more slight deflections than dead hits.

Just hit the pitcher 3 times in one game.

3rd one was the most infuriating.

Runners on 1st and 2nd Matt Holliday up. Nails the pitcher in the leg and bounces right to the 3rd baseman standing next to the bag. All of a sudden what looked like an RBI single off the bat is a 1-5-3 double play.

I haven't hit the pitcher too much (gotta make contact to do that) but it happens around twice a game to me in my RTTS where I am the pitcher.
