The National League & the DH

Being that I'll be firing up my franchise with an NL team shortly, I'm curious what your thoughts are, regarding the DH. I'm not sure if I should set the DH to on, considering this cannot be changed, once you begin your franchise.

Is it just a matter of time before the NL adopts the DH? Or, will they continue to let the pitcher hit for the next five years or more? Thoughts?

I hope and think that the NL will stay without a DH. I don't like the idea of it and I think it brings a different level or strategy to the game when you have to have your pitcher hit. Plus I would not want to miss MadBum raking HR's against Kershaw!

I really hope the NL never adopts the DH. I just feel the DH takes away a lot of strategy involved in the game. For example, if a team is losing 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th, the SP is throwing great and has a low pitch count. But he is coming to bat with 2 outs and a man on 3rd base. Do you pinch hit for him? Leave him in? This situation would never come up in the AL. I feel like in the AL game, the manager only has to manage his bullpen well and never has to be concerned with bunting or pinch hitting at all. I feel the AL is missing part of the game. Plus I feel players should both hit and field.

I don't see the NL adopting it anytime soon and hope that it never does. I love the strategy it brings to the game. I won't say a DH kills that part of the game, it just brings in its own strategies to the game.

I love each league being slightly different and hope that baseball always stays that way.

Re: The National League & the DH

I'm an avid baseball fan but why was the DH never allowed in the NL in the 1st place? How many years ago has this been?

I'm used to it now after all of these years but is the NL a different sport than the AL? I mean c'mone. This game is the same game no matter which league you play the game.

It would be like having no shot clock for NBA basketball for the Eastern Conference while keeping it for the Western Conference. 2 totally different rules for the same sport. I'm not saying I'm all for baseball changing the rules & giving the NL a DH. I am trying to make a comparison point though.

Rules do change in all sports especially with all of these NFL additional rule changes lately but I don't get why it was ever this way between the AL & NL anyhow. Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks!

FTR, I am not in favor the NL using the DH. I'm just curious whether this is something that is inevitable, being that the AL will never eliminate it.
