Morale is an enjoyable new feature with the exception of bringing up prospects. One would logical assume a prospect would be absolutely thrilled, and it would be the greatest moment of their life being called up to the show. But due to the morale system, they are immediately upset about their salary and lose 4 OVR. This needs to be addressed, otherwise i'm thoroughly enjoying the new morale system.

This would be a pretty big oversight, imo. You'd have to think they would have thought about this/caught it doing quality control...right?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan Wolverines -

That's what I'm starting to realize. Between ongoing server issues/online play being a mess, no decent roster updates still, and (apparently) not fully fleshed-out new features, unfortunate visuals (colors, skin tones, and really hard to read fonts and meters) this launch is a bit unbecoming of SCEA/SDS. I think we've been spoiled by how on top of things this dev studio has been in the past, but this year's roll-out has been pretty rocky, and frankly a bit sloppy so far.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: New Morale System Ruining Prospect Call-ups
If its any consolation, it seems the next season for those prospect callups is a lot more realistic with their expectations and morale because of that.
So, it would seem the issue is in the year they are called up. And then the following year if they stick doesnt seem to have as much of an unrealistic expectation. Especially if you change their role when re-signing them in the offseason.Comment

I just simmd the rest of the season and that following season most of my prospects that had bad morale because of "Star" expectation or contract are now in better spirits.Comment

I find no consolation in the fact that if I sim an entire season and the player starts in the majors with the proper salary that should have been awarded to them mid-season when they were called up to begin with, they are no longer angry. If its any consolation, it seems the next season for those prospect callups is a lot more realistic with their expectations and morale because of that.

I'm not simming Orlando Arcia's entire rookie year because he has lost 4 OVR due to an oversight with the morale feature in my Brewer's franchise. I dont want to seem too harsh about this, because it is far from a game-breaker and i'm sure it will get patched at some point. I'm just bringing to attention now in hopes SCEA sees this and it gets taken care of by the time OSFM drops.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee BrewersComment

Re: New Morale System Ruining Prospect Call-ups
Definitely fair to say. There should be at no point a player has bad morale because of his contract when hes first called up. I have never heard that hapoen in baseball ever. It is the consummate sport that you have to put your service time in before you earn any real money. Even if a team buys some of your arbitration years it usually doesnt happen until at least Year 3.
I just wanted to at least let anyone know that hasnt got through a season that it does somewhat correct itself eventually.Comment

That's weak, but could you edit at least the players on your team and bump them back up? Would he tedious to do it for every team though.

Is this a franchise you started on '16 or a carryover?Morale is an enjoyable new feature with the exception of bringing up prospects. Re: New Morale System Ruining Prospect Call-ups
It happens on new franchises - I just checked for myself. I don't have a carryover save to check on that.
The actual "drop" is going to vary though depending on the other factors. It's not going to be a flat 4 points.
I have my own way of looking at this (until patched, because it definitely needs to be), but it'll be unpopular here, so...

I agree that this is the worst MLB has EVER been at launch. The gameplay is solid but the bugs are just ridiculous.PSN: Maserati_Bryan17Comment

Re: New Morale System Ruining Prospect Call-ups
I know this is not an ideal soution and doesn't absolve the developers from patching this issue...but as bcruise may be suggesting here (if I can read between the lines) is that you could take a screen cap of a potential call-up's ratings, then call him up. See what's taken a hit due to morale (I think the attribute negatives are clearly itemized on the player card) and artificially boost any attribute(s) to counteract the morale effect. Again, not ideal and downright painful if you are promoting several guys, but in theory this is so crazy it just might work...Great Scott!I find no consolation in the fact that if I sim an entire season and the player starts in the majors with the proper salary that should have been awarded to them mid-season when they were called up to begin with, they are no longer angry.
