    looking for some hitting pointers

I am currently playing on all star with the default sliders, have not changed any of them. I am fairly good at pitching. Hitting is a totally different story. 5 games into my franchise with the Pirates, I have scored a total of 4 runs and probably 4-5 hits a game. I am using pure analog batting. I started off using the default fish eye camera but I changed to a customer camera that is lower as I like to be able to look at a spot in the outfield and try to determine the pitch as it comes out of the pitchers hand. I am not striking out a whole lot, just a lot of easy grounders and flyouts. Appreciate any pointers any seasoned players can offer me.

I found this on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlYpbgOq4hc
I haven't tried it yet as I am still at work. I am planning on trying to later on this evening.

I don't use analog. In the past I used zone, this year I'm going to go with directional. I haven't played this years game, I'm waiting on the OSFM 40 man. So this advice is regarding past years, I'm not sure how applicable it will be.

#1: Dont use guess pitch. Ever. The penalties for using it outweigh the boost you get for guessing right. And it handicaps you into relying on it. Learn to bat without it, and you'll improve immensely.

#2: Turn the strike zone off. It distracts the eye from watching the ball.

#3: Don't look at the entire screen when batting, or your player, or the strike zone. Focus on the ball as it leaves the pitchers hand. That should be your focal point.

#4: Go into batting practice, and don't swing. Watch a variety of pitches directly from the pitchers hand using your camera of choice. Anticipate where it will end up. See how accurate you are. When you aren't focused on actually swinging, you'll be able to train yourself to read location easier that way.

#5: Don't swing at every strike. Take pitches on the edges of the strike zone. You'll also notice you take more balls with this approach, since you won't be tempted to swing on every pitch and alot of close pitches are very hard to tell apart ball vs strike. Wait for your pitch until you have two strikes. If in a hitters count, don't swing unless the pitcher grooves a pitch down the middle, then crush it. Wait for the fastball down the middle, or even better, the hanging curve ball up in the zone, and just crush it.

I use pure analog and it definitely helps me to pull back on R stick earlier than I have in previous years. Stride timing doesn't exist from what I understand so if you are power swinging, try going back a bit earlier.

I find it helps me already being in the cocked position just before the ball is released so I can focus on pushing forward with correct timing.
