I don't keep my fingers on the L2/R2 buttons.

But to answer your first question, there isn't a way to change the mapping of the controls.

Actually....there is a way to remap button assignments at the console level. It's in the Acessibility section of the settings menu (from the PS4 home screen).

The catch is that it'll remap everything else L2 does in the game too - like pickoffs, slide step, and fielder change.

L2 is very sensitive when it comes to activating it for base running/stealing except when you want to bring up the pickoff camera. You basically can make a sandwich in the time it takes for the camera to switch.

Discovered the other day that you have to move the R stick towards 1st base while holding L2 to get pickoff camera to show 1st base on pickoff atempts.

I have had a few issues early on with this but stopped keep my fingers near either trigger. Only happened once since I changed my grip

Does that change the mapping for all games or can you make it specific to the show?

Good question, I just checked up on that. There are not seperate profiles for individual games, but there is an option that acts as an on-off switch for the custom button assignments themselves. So, you wouldn't have to change each assignment back and forth if you go to play a different game - you'd just need to un-check the custom assignments box. Whatever changes you made to the custom settings will come back as soon as you enable the option again.

Might have to try this. Earlier today I accidentally sent Kris Bryant to steal home plate when I had to scratch an itch. Third out of the inning.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Sorry but this made me literally laugh out loud for some reason.

                        Re: Accidentally sending runners

Yeah the accessibility settings are really useful. I'm someone who prefers L1/R1 to aim and shoot in shooter games, and most of them don't offer the option to change the controls.

As far as the show, I'd like to be able to invert (vertically) the right stick for showtime fielding. I play shooters inverted, so its pretty difficult to try to do this not inverted (I turned off showtime fielding for the time being).

I don't understand why all games don't offer full button remapping.

Isn't this to allow time to use the slide step? I didn't like it at first, but once I started using the slide step semi-regularly, I got used to it.

Most likely but it could be a little quicker and still get the job done.

I had to change the way I grip the controller for this reason, except it was R2 not L2 for me. Ended up with pesky force outs since runers wouldn't advance.

Now, I let my index finger lay straight and paralel to the right side of the controller, instead of letting it rest on the R2 button.
