Bunting third-base home, what am I doing wrong?

OK I have screwed this up more than a few times. Couple times my runner hasn't moved when I've laid the bunt down, couple times my runner has taken off before the pitch has been thrown and he's been tagged out in a rundown.

When you're trying to bunt a guy on third home what exactly do you do?

Do you hit L1 once to give him a lead? Do you click L2 once to indicate he should steal on the bunt? Do you have to hit the bunt first and then hit L1 repeatedly to get him to move?

It's a dangerous play bc you have to steal home and lay the bunt down the line. Hence the term "suicide squeeze" if the pitch is missed your likely to get tagged out.

Leading off a step seems to work for me.

This is where the poor baserunning AI really lets us down. My solution is to just remember to press L1/L2 AS SOON as that bunt makes contact. It doesn't always work 100% because sometimes the baserunner is sliding back to the base or just not moving in the right direction, but it's better than nothing.

Ideally the baserunners should be breaking on contact on their own.

Just have to click L2 (not hold) before the pitch and the suicide squeeze will work as intended.

My deal is I take the first pitch (no lead) 2nd pitch, tap l2 once before he sets and right before you know he's gonna go in the windup tap l2 rapidly. It's usually effective, because when you start the steal the 3rdbaseman covers the bag, than has to sprint down the line to get the ball and more often than not will miss the bare hand or make no throw. Best results I've had was bases loaded, 2 outs with James jones. Got a single out of it, and a throwing error that cleared the bases and put jones on 3rd.

Take a 1-2 step lead off 3rd, press L2 before the pitch to steal home, lay down that bunt and hope for the best..it usually works unless you miss the bunt

                  Safety squeeze is better.

With less than 2 outs and a runner on 3rd, hold UP on the left stick and lay down a drag style bunt. The ball will head in the direction of the second baseman and will be an automatic out at first. However, it's pretty much a gimmie run at home because the man on 3rd will take off on contact. Much better play than the suicide squeeze.
