Re: guessing pitches
I guess location only and for me it adds a bit of fun to the game. I use it to tailor when I swing to suit the hitter/pitcher and situation. I find I draw more walks and get into good hitters counts as I tend to wait for the pitch in my location. I started using it last year by guessing up and using directional up to help stay out of the dreaded double play. -

Re: guessing pitches
I use it a lot. Especially with sluggers, i wait for a certain pitch - usually a fastball. Against some pitchers, guessing is very useful. If they had sinkers, changeups, forkballs, then there's a good chance they'll pitch down in the strikezone. Also, the IA logic for pitching is realistic, so guessing location can be very useful. For example, if they pitch two high fastballs, then i'll guess down in the strikezone waiting for a breaking ball.Last edited by WhiteBunny; 04-21-2016, 06:18 AM.Comment

Re: guessing pitches
As long as a pitcher has a fastball, I guess high fastball on every pitch. My whole gameplan at the plate is to wait a pitcher out, try and take a walk if possible, and get into a good count where he gives me something good to hit.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

If he throws the same pitch two pitches in a row or I know he has limited pitches (always choose X in That case)
Reading through this thread though has give me some ideas.

Re: guessing pitches
Always choose inside fastball if that's one of his top 2 pitches. If I'm right I'll try to crush a home run. If I'm wrong, I wait back and try to hit the ball to right field. If it's offspeed inside I have time adjust and still pull the ball. If the pitcher doesn't have a good fastball I'll go with the strikeout pitch. Sinker low, slider outside, curveball low so I don't get fooled and swing at strike 3 outside the zone.Comment

Re: guessing pitches
I go high because I'm more comfortable with them and feel that I have a better chance of hitting a homerun. I would say that somewhere between 50-75% of all the HRs I hit come when I power swing knowing its going to be a high fastball. I get many other doubles, line drives, ect as well. Of course, there are times its TOO high and I swing out of my shoes, or hit a high pop up as well.
If they have multiple fastballs, I try to figure out which one the guy is more likely to throw and go with that. I'm much more comfortable with a 4 seam than a 2 seam, but if the 2 is his primary pitch, then thats what I go with.
If a starting pitcher doesn't have a fastball in his arsenal, then I generally switch from using the X button to the O button, and basically just hope I get lucky. If a reliever doesn't have one, especially if he's left handed, I'm up a creek. I swing at anything thats not clearly low or outside, but I basically just hope they pull him for a pinch hitter.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment
